  1. Hmm, I'm actually now wondering if Hearthstone arc isn't over. Go some Voidbringer scouting, then return for a brief visit to offer any to go to Kholinar or Urithiru?
  2. On Diagram: Graves thought if they manouvered Dalinar into the throne he would become an ally (as Diagram said he could be enemy or ally). He was genuine, BUT at the end orders came to keep Kaladin away from Szeth (which meant away from Dalinar) at all costs. Graves focused on that, but miscalculated and accidentally helped him progress, which he hadn't counted on although the Diagram warned to not "put pressure" on them or they would invest. Perks of just having finished WoK and WoR reread . Also, I believe there is a WoB that says no-one saw Adolin commit the murder. Unfortunately I suck at WoB finding as I can't enter theoryland.
  3. Welcome to the 17th Shard .
  4. Much more meaningful upon reread. First time I took it as an expression, but its so literal. Fist=punch. Sword=authority he used to take control.
  5. Did anyone else think the Kaladin-Syl ship went up a few points? With saying she was a woman, and shouldn't use her to hit things ^^. I'm generally not a fan of ships, but Syl-Kaladin I can get behind.
  6. He didn't kill anyone either for the shards he earned from Adolin. But that was considered a nearly mythical event for a brightlord to give shards to a darkeyes.
  7. Adolin didn't lie to Shallan at all. I've been looking at all his interactions with a magnifying glass. He said he knew nothing about the second murder.
  8. By the way, just finished rereading WoR today. Shallan was uncomfortable with Renarin even then.
  9. My impression after reading the 6 pages: @robardin theory Ghostbloods did the copycat murder to save Adolin and continue blackmailing Shallan is my favorite. Sons of Honor seem to have far too little knowledge/eyes around to do anything of this scale I suspect. They just got an early start from Gavilar's visions, but have been stagnating since, is my impression. As for Ialai doing it, maybe but its a dangerous game. Kill to catch a muderer, can easily have the tables turned on you, and even if you bring down the person you are aiming for (Adolin) very easy you go down too. On people thinking Adolin did both murders...ehhhh, NO. Everyone in the warcamps and their axehounds likely knew that Adolin hated Sadeas with a passion. Threats flying in winehouses, in feasts, duel, etc. The second murder if anything makes things easier for Adolin, as he'd be the last suspect. Unfortunately also means it needs to be very carefully handled, and don't think he has the skill to do so. Unless Shallan or Renarin decide to help him. Mara, don't think she is that relevant. Champion talk always rubs me wrong. I think because its too obvious. I can't help feeling that idea is either misunderstood or a red herring. I'm a bit surprised Kaladin left so quickly Hearthstone. And sad he didn't introduce Sylphrena to his parents. "Mom, Dad, I want to introduce you to someone very special to me"
  10. . Should have seen that coming. But still laughed so much. Finding that second murder was so shocking. And once we saw the details it was beyond disturbing. So, Renarin knows what Adolin did... What is up with Shallan? Urithiru creeps her out, Renarin creeps her out. Separately they might make sense, but together in 1 chapter? About hearing she claims to be an Elsecaller...groan. The rules to follow when keeping a secret: 1. If anyone other than you knows it, acknowledge that it will eventually be found 2. No secret ever stays buried, question is when, not if. Accept it and don't fool yourself. 3. On account of 2, only keep a secret if the blowback of been found out is 10x less than the rewards you get during the time you keep the secret. In this case all 3 are amazingly violated. Too many people know she is a Lightweaver, it will eventually be discovered. She seems to be fooling herself that she can keep it?? Finally, the blowback when the truth is found out will be MONUMENTAL. The knights radiant are seen as horrible, lying, traitors. So lets be paragons of virtuosity, honor and truth Lets start off the refounding by lying to people so when the truth comes out all their preconceptions are reinforced. Also, lets give the Ghostbloods yet another blackmail tool. All of that for the hazy, unclear benefits of having illusions more capable of fooling people. Sorry, but the reward is 10x lower than the price to be paid for it. Flabbergasted by the logic . Now off to reread all the pages before commenting again.
  11. Just read chapter 7, and not seen any comments. That was awesome. We should have expected coming home to be bittersweet. Ch 6 was sweet, ch 7 bitter. How much like Lirin to not give a crem worth about the slave brands, only to reject him for the Shardblade. I knew Syl wouldn't care about the punch! Huh, wasn't expecting him to be embarrased about it. Come on a KR doesn't mean to stop been human, was just a tiny punch ^^. He pulled Shardblade as predicted, not ashamed of who he is. Although I'm shocked he didn't burst a gut at been called Brightlord. Laral...surprised she was happy, but the rest was as expected. So! Little brother! I half thought it would be a sister, as sisters are safe from recruitment, would have given more peace to his parents if it were a girl most likely. Back to reading!
  12. Unlikely. We have a WoB stating once you get too many powers those synergies don't work. So far we haven't seen those secondary abilities in anyone with more than 2 powers, as such 3 may be too many to get the special pairs. So eager for next chapters! If we don't continue in Hearthstone 1 chapter at least I'm going to burst ^^. So...chapter 1-3 thread was 15 pages long, 4-6 was 23 pages, bets on how many 7-9 will be?
  13. Yes, I really doubt stormlight can dissappear from Roshar. Worst case scenario is storm patterns may be changed and delayed.
  14. Agh, I always have this problem, overlaping my own time with GMT. So Flash, are you still going to be around to post the link tmrw?
  15. 15.01 GMT +1
  16. I think I'm going to get behind the Redin Dustbringer train. Its been obvious for a while the bastard was going to be relevant. He was written..in an eye drawing way. Then again sometimes Brandon just does that on accident .
  17. This is possibly one of the most important and disturbing parts I'm thinking about now that OB is here. I will reserve judgement till the end, as it is possible once the 5 ideals are said there is a balance struck so the Radiant doesn't topple under inhuman expectations. A slight theory which I have, is that Windrunners may have the toughest time of all orders upholding their ideals, since they are the ones closest to Honor. The other 9 have a dash more of Cultivation (or so it seems even if not confirmed), as such personal growth is often included as a prerequisite into the ideals, while Windrunners may be the most rigid of all orders. Unfortunately we won't be able to find that out for a while yet.
  18. Szeth may end up having unique surges, and a unique relationship with his spren (obviously Nightblood is never going to be normal). But he may also be sort of "adopted" into the skybreakers, an idea strengthened by been Nale's protegee. Even if Nale is nuttier than a fruit cake, the skybreakers obviously seem to respect him. I'm not certain if Szeth would need to swear oaths, I wouldn't be surprised if rather he has to "guide" Nightblood into changing ang growing. Normal spren change when their Knights say the Oaths, Szeth may just need to grow with Nightblood the hard way, through experience and familiarity. We did get a WoB that Nigthblood is changing, and Vasher had a bit of a blindspot when it came to the sword.
  19. I doubt they were looking for Nighblood specifically. You have to be a special level of knowledgeable, powerful and a dash of either crazy or stupid to want to be in the possesion of Nightblood. Kriss and Nazh seem far too smart for that . But objects a bit less invested than that...maybe?
  20. I still think that if Kaladin had truly believed that killing Elhokar was for the best, it would have worked. Problem is he didn't really believe that, just wanted vengeance. He usually has problems with his powers when been pushed forward by negative emotions. When his reasons are propulsed by positive emotions, like joy, protectiveness, etc, he is fine. Good point. I know I am in the minority that doesn't really see how Kaladin did something reprehensible by asking to duel Amaram then.Yes, it was stupid, but it wasn't wrong. If his eyes were light blue there he would have been acclaimed and beloved then and there. Because his eyes are dark brown he is thrown into prison. I'm never going to see what one person does as wrong because of racism (eyecism?), when by another it would be perfect. Dalinar went some points down there for me with his speech to Kaladin. And Syl really annoyed me by completely dissappearing during the jail time. Kaladin needed her more than ever, and she dissappeared. (Just reread that yesterday). Overall I like Syl, I think she complements Kaladin well, and I think she just wants Kaladin to follow his own code, but truly believe in it. However, you raise a good point.
  21. Good idea. But I think their biggest problems for escaping were taking the injured and no supplies once they left. Mainly the first. That scene was a good reminder that he began with Adhesion.
  22. Absolutely, when the time came they showed they were actually worthy of leadership. Not like the other spoiled children in the playground. For my underrated character I'd say Szeth. He isn't mentioned nowhere near as much as I think he deserves. Specially as the times I see his name its 60% of the time because of Nightblood. He is the most honorable man in Roshar, the height of showing why honor can be very twisted. He hated what he did, but he did it as his honor demanded it. And then it was all for a lie. Will be fascinating to see where he goes in the future, and his conflict with Dalinar will be doubtlessly delicious. I actually think the worst thing he ever did was kill the bridge 4 men, as they were not on his list of targets. Finally, he has a lot of very juicy information. Mr T, Stone Shamans, Honorblades, probably knows more of the KR than even Jasnah (until her Shadesmar trip at least), and finally I think there is somewhere a WoB that he might have trained with the other honorblades too.
  23. Nice theory @maxal A problem that I foresee with the Alethi throne is that none of the people in line for it will make for very good kings. Dalinar, okay, he would be good but we've mentioned many times how to unite Roshar he would have to leave behind some Alethi things, including the titles. Besides, he is 50+ years old, he can't rule forever. Adolin might be a great commander of the armies, but not sure how he would do as king...not too well I suspect. Renarin, also doesn't seem king material. Elhokar's son is a baby. And considering the wonderful things both his parents do I'd be skeptical at how the poor kid would grow up. The biggest issue with the Dustbringer theory for Ehokar is that it fully caps every single Kholin as Radiant. Szeth is quite unusual, and I suspect we will not be able to guess what is going on with him until we see it, as he breaks nearly all the rules. Also...are there any skybreakers still alive?
  24. Humans could just flee en masse to Urithiru, use soulcasters till the land there can be farmed, and last a very long time. It sounded absolutely huge, and had planting areas too. Wouldn't be surpised if it was originally built specifically to be the last bastion of humanity before the Voidbringers. Since its hard to reach without Oathgates can probably defend forever. Of course convincing people that they need to flee before disaster does come will be the tricky part.
  25. Brilliant idea. Or another alternative is a reminder of how absolutely prevalent Odium is in alethi culture. Those who should have been closer to Honor are the ones further from him. Opposite the parshendi, who should have been furthest from Honor, but are the ones to carry him most in their culture and traditions. If I remember right, Tien died, and Kaladin ran himself ragged, until he met Tarah who forced him to rest as he was going to kill himself at that rate. Aw, nice to hear I'm not the only one to sound like a junkie when it comes to books. I need my fix! Most people don't understand or think I'm exagerating . Read my mind. Adolin the Problem Fixer. Who does what everyone else balks at doing, even when it means their dooms. But I don't think he would do that, unless Moash had either killed someone close to him (not necesarily family, his men count too), or if he intended to. I guess if he keeps obsessed with Elhokar that works.
