  1. I always find in stories family dynamics, sibling relationships, and most importantly friendship bonds to be the most interesting to read about. Which is why my favorite ship is Kadolin . Not that I want them to end together, just to have scenes bickering . Although Syl and Kaladin are also fun to read.
  2. Ideally I'd see all the relationships either marry or be dissolved so we get them out of the way. If that can't happen, I don't want two main characters to fall in a relationship because: Unbalanced screentime compared to all the others Force two characters that are doing wildly different things together, meaning one would be limited. Example, mistborn era 1 and 2 Yes, I know these things happen organically, but truth is, if two people come together they spend time together. Their interests end up aligning, and their actions too. There are cases when what they do can compliment each other, but there are other times when they just... don't.
  3. I'm not entirely sure how Kaladin would react to Adolin killing Sadeas. I'm leaning towards "he wouldn't care, or would be ok with it". But I'm not positive. Maybe 75% certain. I've always been 95% sure Renarin would support Adolin. Shallan...hmm, she might swing back and forth but I think she'd end up supporting Adolin. However, I suspect Shallan's reaction will mark the true begining of their relationship or their splitting up. If she forgives him and stands by him I wouldn't be surprised if they don't take too long to marry. Basically she would have seen his darkest self, and accepted him. As well as seen he is more complex than she though, which I suspect will be an appealing point for her. Of course she also needs to divulge a truth or three about herself. If she grows angry over the lie they will fall appart, and I guess Shalladin will happen. *Color me unenthusiastic about last option*
  4. That would be best scene ever. E: "Kaladin! Adolin killed Sadeas, how should I punish him?" K: "..." E: "Well, I don't want to make a mistake here" K: "You are asking. Me. How to punish the man that I grudgingly like despite been a lighteyes for killing a man that treats human life like chattel and that killed a third of my squires." E: "Yes" K: "Is it too late to hand in my resignation? My job is not so great after all."
  5. Radiants had Rhysadium. How soon, that is unknown. Hoid said he had been very surprised to see Ryshadium, and that it was nice to see something could still surprise him.
  6. Nightblood to the rescue . But in all honestly I doubt the living spren would consider than an upgrade . I'm very much curious to see Nightblood talk with a spren. Wonder if the spren would be climbing the walls to get away from him or if they would be okay with Nightblood's existence.
  7. @Calderis, considering how many new people are on the 17th Shard and how many times you are presenting this argument, just copy paste the relevant points into a doc in your pc to pop out each time you have to repeat it . Its not their fault they are new and its a valid point that this "oath ambiguity" is not simple to grasp with what we have read. For the record I don't entirely agree with you, but its true the Oaths and Orders are not as black and white as its assumed.
  8. I haven't read Unfettered either, as of the second flashback there are 6 princedoms. Its possible one yielded after the Rift, and what I meant is they could have reached a diplomatic (marriage) agreement with another. Leaving just 4. As for marriage to Shshsh, I'm not sure. Maybe the Kholins got lands and armies on the other side of Roshar, but if so it hasn't been mentioned. Even if they did get lands, they would not help in the war of unification of Alethkar. (Shshsh, was Iriali or something like that, can't remember exact kingdom)
  9. Of course they wouldn't get Shards that way But gaining Shardbearers sworn to them, is nearly as good. Not to mention it would be good politics with the remaining 4 princedoms and would get a fresh army.
  10. I'm not going to go into the wiki to check, but I think every Alethi princedom had some shardbearers sworn to them (as evidenced by Adolin's dueling spree, where at the end the Kholins "just" had 25% of the Alethi Shards). Besides they were just complaining in that flashback that still 6 princedoms fought against them, well maybe 5 after the Rift.
  11. I'm actually a bit surprised Dalinar was just married to a foreigner for plate. Why not to a highprince's sister or daughter to gain an entire princedom?
  12. On dead place: during the battle of Narak Adolin lost nearly all his plate, but he wasn't worried, just told the bridgemen to find a piece to use as seed to regrow it entirely.
  13. Now I can't get the idea of Stone Shamans, Szeth and Dalinar clashing during the Sanderson Avalanche of OB out of my head .
  14. Its an Edgedancer spren, thats all that is known.
  15. This. Dalinar will need to leave behind Alethi lands (seems he is already starting) and titles. But he will also have to leave behind the customs to an extent, and a good chunk of vorinism too. I was always bothered by how Urithiru was an alethi province, but I didn't connect it to how other kingdoms may refuse to work with them so long as that is the case. Urithiru should be a place for KR to be themselves, to not have to hide or fake as they do with the rest of the world. The world is welcome to come, but they should come as guests, and that should be made abundantly clear. On KR chapterhouse of every kingdom appearing. I suspect it won't happen large scale for two reasons. The lesser one is KR are broken, and I suspect at least half of them won't be a good fit with their cultures or countries (imagine an azish that hates paperwork, a thaylen that hates strangers, etc). The main reason is the spren. Shallan was pushed towards Jasnah, and eventually to Dalinar. Syl pressed Kaladin to go to Dalinar. The spren are trying to save humanity, and will likely push their radiants to come together. This reasoning is why I half think T's radiant is legit and not a diagramist. But I wouldn't swear to it, never can be sure with that group . But just because the KR won't scatter doesn't mean Dalinar doesn't need to try much, much harder. Finally, I really believe Dalinar is still misunderstanding the "unite them". First he thought it was unite the highprinces, nope. Now unite roshar, sigh, he never learns does he. Roshar unity is likely a step closer to it, but still I suspect is not entirely what Honor meant. I'm split whether unity means unite the KR and let them pull in their countries (when things get bad they will clutch at survival, which is synonimous with following the KR to Urithiru) or unite the parshendi and humans.
  16. Eshonai's mom seemed to be having a version of Alzheimer, also pointed out she was getting worse.
  17. I loved the Adolin scene. He needs some peace and quiet after the ongoing shocks he has been having. The KR are back. And he is engaged to one, son to another and brother to yet another. Kill Sadeas. Be put in charge of the Alethi armies. Second copycat murder. Be put in charge of investigation for the murder he committed . Sugar feeding time for Gallant and relaxing with his little brother sounds perfect at this point.
  18. Only way I see that happening is if Dalinar gives permission for that to happen/encourages it. Which is possible, he may decide his place is in Urithiru and push Gallant to go with Adolin. Of course that would only work since Adolin and Gallant already like each other. We'll see.
  19. Szeth killed some men from Bridge 4. Kaladin may fight by his side it if is right but he will never forgive Szeth. Also, for Syl's sake I really hope Kaladin doesn't try to fight Szeth, don't want to find out what Nightblood does to spren via Syl.
  20. I'm going with Option 2 out of sheer stupidity. T says it himself in his WoR interlude. So smart, so capable and so stupid at the same time. I know T as a Bondsmith is a very popular theory, but I'm always going to be against that. Save the world and accidentally destroy some parts of it: alright, you can't save the world without making some damage. Save the world by destroying it first: no thanks, we are good. Its the same reason why I really dislike Alethkar as a kingdom, and why it is so weak. You can't forge something strong out of destruction. T has the aggravant of trying to forge something strong through assasination and sabotage. At least the Three Musqueteers (Gavilar, Sadeas, Dalinar) had the decency to look you in the eye as they killed you. If they become allies...well, with allies like these who needs enemies .
  21. I thought the village was playing a con on Kaladin till they said they didn't particularly see red eyes. If they were trying to fool the Radiant for some reason they would have claimed red eyes everywhere. There is no way the Listeners could get to that corner of Alethkar so quickly (alright, maybe they somehow could, but the idea never even crossed my head). As such, the ships elsewhere didn't surprise me. The negotiations got a raised eyebrow, but I half expected something like that. Remember the Amazon blurb. The fight against the Voidbringers/Parshendi/whatever they are is not going to be so black and white, at least not on OB.
  22. He actually asked Adolin to be his liason with Aladar. Basically, as said above politics. Highprince of Information working along with the Kholins and current rulers of both Alethkar and Urithiru.
  23. Its very different to see a nameless guard kill a child than for the protagonist do the same. Point to you. Maybe we will see it later, but if we do it will probably be the worst thing we see a Sanderson good and honorable protagonist do. Mistborn
  24. Yes, thats the main reason why the idea doesn't entirely fit. Brandon just doesn't do those things, even if he briefly mentions them elsewhere. And I just think he didn't write the death of the child because he couldn't. Reading a beloved character, and paragon of honor butchering a 7 year old...yeah, wrong author.
  25. Its funny how perspectives can change so quickly. End of WoR: Szeth and Dalinar will be an interesting relationship, I hope Szeth stays away from him for a while and gives Dalinar a chance to embrace his Bondsmith duties so he won't try to kill Szeth as soon as he appears Last line of chapter 12 OB: Szeth!!! Go to Urithiru pronto! Dalinar needs you to show him the light. On the Rift, I think he just killed the boy. Although the rape idea sounds disturbing but plausible.
