It wasn't openly said, but the impression I got is that Dalinar went while Gavilar was negotiating with the Parshendi, which left Elhokar unsupervised to rule the kingdom and the Roshone incident with Moash's grandparents went down.

I've only read the first 4 pgs, but will dive in anyway. Really interesting about Malata, seems our endless speculation from last week wasn't entirely unfounded. Although...there is a weird storm, parshmen are acting oddly, radiants are popping up for the first time in millenia, pff, what proof do we have that there is a Desolation other than these alethi nutjobs over here? None whatsoever . Does anything think maybe the figure Shallan chased from the theater was a person (maybe GB) and the spren just appeared afterwards? Her story was fascinating by the way. I was actually really happy Adolin finally told Shallan the truth of who killed Helaran, and have no clue why people on 17th shard are unhappy about it. Sorry, but lies are not healthy, not to yourself, and not among friends. The sooner the truth comes out, the sooner the wound can be dealt with. Otherwise a lie keeps building up and up, to the point where it explodes and hurts people unecesarily. When if you deal with it early enough it causes some pain, but not crippling pain. Finally, much better the truth came from someone Shallan trusts (Adolin) and that didn't mean any harm than someone out to make trouble and divide (Amaram or T). All in all, the truth was necesary, and better sooner than later. On Amaram becoming highprince, ehhh, there are pages upon pages on the shard predicting it, unfortunately was easy to see coming. Does anyone else think Dalinar's solution would be for Ialai herself to become highprince? Would have been better than Amaram, and Ialai would have liked it. Alas, Ialai is too far into hatred to even listen. My theory that Adolin will become the cleanup squad and remove Amaram at some point went up a few notches. Awwww. The one thing that shines about Adolin is that he is insanely protective of his people. For them he would happily walk into Damnation. Its why he killed Sadeas, because he was a threat to his family. Loved this little comment showing he basically has firmly included Kaladin into that group of people he would do basically anything for. Shallan's story is the most interesting so far, but looks dark and worrisome.

This was a really random and completely baseless thought I had while reading the chapters, and the two lines dedicated to Malata. But for some reason I got the impression that Shallan may be as understimated as a Radiant as she has been her whole life. Yes she was one of the first, and saved many lives, but it was still a feeling. Maybe because anyone looking at Shallan would never dream of the things she has done at her tender age. Specially considering she projects a naive and very innocent facade. When I finished WoR I thought she might shed that image around Radiants, but after reading the sample chapters of OB...I'm more of the impression that she will continue embracing her naivety to continue making her illusions.

A book about the third empire?
WhiteLeeopard replied to AnonymousFan's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
My first thought for possible third empire was persian or arabic culture. But Aztec or Incan would be really cool. -
[OB] What is up with Mraize and Ialai?
WhiteLeeopard replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Shallan has made it abundantely clear she cares nothing if people are murderers. I admit the Helaran part may muddy the waters. Honestly though, the Helaran plot is for me the part I personally dislike the most of SA, so I have little patience for it. Kaladin has proved himself to Dalinar many times, and bluntly, Dalinar needs Kaladin way too much. -
[OB] What is up with Mraize and Ialai?

Thats entirely possible. But I doubt those claims would hold for long, specially with zero evidence. As soon as Kaladin's powers and restrictions become a bit more used it will be obvious accusing a Windrunner of assasination is as dumb as you can go. Kaladin even has trouble lying or twisting the truth because Syl doesn't like it. Granted, he can, but he didn't seem too comfortable doing it. Nice 1st line, I should make a meme of it . -
[OB] What is up with Mraize and Ialai?
WhiteLeeopard replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Those problems are outside of Alethkar. In WoK and WoR the Alethi kept saying they would not follow him because he had lost his touch and wasn't the Blackthorn any more. -
[OB] What is up with Mraize and Ialai?
WhiteLeeopard replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Heh. Knowing the Alethi they would say "Blackthorn 2.0! What a wonderful day, lets follow him." Remember alethi worship strength and little else despite what they say. -
My first thought was that whatever silence is going on with Kholinar was happening accross other large Alethi cities.

OrangeJedi, dang you picked an actually cool chicken. When I read of chickens on Roshar my first thought tends to be

Honestly, the message from Tezim could have been from WoT Masema nearly word for word if you swap the realmatic words. Thats part of why I laughed so much and loved reading the letter. Good old times.

In Warbreaker Nightblood killed a lot of people for trying to steal him. So, guess Nightblood agrees with Nale on the penalty for stealing . Now, I've been meaning to ask for a while. If we take all WoBs and assume Nightblood can grant Surges, which surges do you guys think they would be? For some reason I'm obssesed with the idea that one surge of Nightblood will be akin to a larkin or burning Chromium.

I'm still not certain she even knows the Diagram exists. She may be an oblivious radiant T snatched up to earn Dalinar's trust. Also...considering snapping is coming in the wide Cosmere, keep in mind mistborn I think our ideas of broken are a bit extreme due to Kaladin and Shallan been the ones we've seen the most of, whom I suspect would be considered a bit extreme even by radiant standards.

The woman is likely a Dustbringer. The questions are Is she a trustworthy Radiant? Is she part of the Diagram? Is she just a woman full of herself due to her new position? Is she just reeling with the shock of "coming out"? Does she belong to another secret society? Is she a Herald? (least likely in my opinion, but never know with those guys)

I believe this point is part of why Warbreaker can be downloaded for free in his website.

I'm also hoping to see Shalash soon. But I imagine we would get some bigger clues, if nothing else than to say she is dropdead gorgeous.

No you are not the only one . I don't expect to see such a scene but it would be so funny to read. Good catch, I totally missed that and was focusing on the Unmade. -clicks tongue- tricky tunnel vision. Its totally possible that will happen. But honestly, wouldn't it just seem like finger pointing in retaliation? Amaram was said to be a murderer and to have broken the most sacred law of Alethkar. So now he goes and says one of the men of the darkeyes he wronged is a murderer. Seems like a weak attempt to shift blame. But with alethi anything can happen. They could say the squires now have the power to act, etc. I have very little respect for overall alethi culture as a whole as might be visible in my posts .

Its curious how our expectations are been tumbled so fast. Most of the fandom here expected Adolin to be the one drowning and in desperate need of help. Turns out he is the one most capable so far and Dalinar the one that is in sore need of help (nations issues left right and center, and of course his new bff). On further thought I think that the Diagramists arriving to Urithiru is not such a bad thing. With the Ghostbloods and the Sons of Honor running around, I expect those groups to trip each other up at least as much, if not more, than the trouble they will make for our protagonists. After all, what is the one thing power hungry societies with a long term secret goal fear more than a paragon of honor to face them? Competition. The fear of having another group steal what they want will likely be bigger than Dalinar having it. I'm sure there is much we don't know between the GB and Amaram, but I also suspect part of their issues are simple competitiveness. They are both groups scrambling for power in chaos, as such they are more likely to view their competitors in the same market with more dread than at the Radiants trying to bring in humanity together. Add in the Diagram, and hello super chaos. This would likely serve Odium nicely.

So, contrary to his claims he did not know his curse and boon. Feel free to share with the class when you figure it out . Groan. Couldn't this particular group wait, I don't know some more 100 chapters to come to Urithiru? Oh Dalinar. Isn't Amaram enough proof that you should take a long careful look at Gavilar's friends? My first thought is T was milking his role for all he was worth. But might just have been a stupid day I guess. I had to laugh at that one. After this I think T was just on a dumb day. I imagine that will be fun to see. If its true. I like seeing Dalinar is a bit more paranoid than before. There goes my favorite theory regarding Dalinar's memories. Auch, things are looking bad, and inclining more in the direction of he will start forgetting Navani soon. Hello there crazy Herald. Hihihhi. If nothing else Tezim will be fun to read. Dalinar with a hint of Blackthorn is a delight to read. Just a hint though, too much was...too much.

Now we are talking! Fascinating, seems Kholinar isn't the only city to have gone silent. Or could just be chaos after the parhsmen left maybe. Huh? Is Kaladin prettending to be a lighteyes, or is Corporal the highest darkeyes can go? Hmm, I'm leaning that he popped up the sylblade to lighten his eyes for the authority. I thought the Everstorm was slower than the Highstorm. Or maybe its because of the hijacked time. Nice info that parshmen don't change into new (void)forms with it. Seems voidspren can predict everstorms, (or feel them coming). And radiant spren the highstorms. . You are telling me even Voidspren aren't minions of evil that just want to destroy the world???? I thought parshmen would just be people, but I did expect Voidspren to be hateful, angry, etc. O.o

Wow. Nice job Adolin. He is doing stunningly well. Deny Dalinar did it, everyone will evnetually belive it. And if anyone blames anyone in Kholin Adolin will be the last person if Dalinar is discarded. Ialai just lost some IQ points in my book. Treating the person that brought her entire army to Urithiru like a maid seems smart...not. Aha! As I predicted, Sadeas and Ialai were just too random, too focused on themselves. And that tells us...nothing of the GB motives. But interesting he adds a task that he knows she is doing already. And that he also adds to her claims that there is a darkness on Urithiru. Should have seen that coming. Well, we all expected Amaram to appear soon, only question was how. Mraize, Amaram, Adolin and Shallan in close proximity, what could possibly go wrong.

I'd love to see further Amaram-GB conflict with both sides trying to end up highprince of the Sadeas princedom. Might be funny to see not only our heroes interact with the societies, but also the societies among themselves in front of a large public.
