  1. That depends on the GM and on player preference. I take the last vote in red; some GMs are more particular.
  2. This thread just keeps getting better and better.
  3. I think someone might have believed you and updated the Coppermind... https://coppermind.net/wiki/Sovereign
  4. I don't think he'd have a problem with that one, even with direct action, because he'd be Preserving himself while bringing Ruin to someone else.
  5. Slate is actually a low-grade metamorphic rock (source); you might be thinking of shale when you say sedimentary. However, I think this supports your theory of the continent being made after the world more than a sedimentary rock would. A sedimentary mountain would mean one of two things: 1) high rates of sediment deposition with low erosion, which is the opposite of what happens in most mountain ranges, or 2) the mountain was created that way and is now slowly shrinking due to erosion. A metamorphic rock would imply tectonic activity in the continent's geologic past. So in short, a metamorphic mountain range leaves room for an after-creating land-building event (while not necessarily providing evidence for that), while a sedimentary mountain range would imply that they were created like that.
  6. Posts needing to be shorter than this? Preposterous! This is the kind of thing that this forum lives for. If anything you're more rules-heavy than most here; we usually don't go to the trouble of underlining book titles or citing sources; it takes too much work. *chuckles* Guess I got a bit ahead of myself. I'm Elenion, call me Len. Welcome to the Shard! Watch out for people handing out cookies and other baked goods; they're contaminated with any number of nasty things, including Hemalurgic Spikes. Now let me tell you, you do not want to get one of those stuck in your tongue... As for the meaning of Unite Them, I can't help you. There's a reason I mostly stay down in the role-play section.
  7. Write-up and player list have been edited in. Cycle will end as normal in approximately 18 hours.
  8. So I was running around a more dubious part of the web when I bumped into footage supposedly leaked from the next Star Wars movie. I won't repost it here because the only stuff I could find had viruses in it (yeah, it was that part of the web), but it looked legit enough. If you're interested, ]spoiler]Han gives up force-sensitivity in a trade for Chewie's life[/spoiler] which I thought was really dumb, so I don't plan on seeing the movie when it comes out. [The above post should not be taken seriously. It's April 1, after all.]
  9. I'm leaving in July so I might miss Stormlight 4.
  10. The stormwall hit Kharbranth, sending trash whizzing down alleyways and temporarily cleaning out the stench of death and disease that had begun to hang over Kharbranth. Most of the people were inside; the only ones who weren’t were those too weak to walk. In the large shelter by the town square, Eternum’s absence had been noticed. “Hopefully he’s in another shelter,” someone said, “I’d hate to think what shape he’d be in if he was out in the storm.” The door to the shelter banged open and a wretchedly-dressed boy rushed in, soaked to the skin. “Message from Captain Greer, sirs. Eternum’s body was found just before the Highstorm hit.” It was amazing what the street urchins would do for a couple spheres. This one had apparently run through the city, in a highstorm, dodging from shelter to shelter, just to bring a single sentence. And yet the message had such a great effect on those in the shelter that nobody thought to pay him. “It’s Coop! He lied about the hiccups and now this!” “It’s the crazy pig lady! It’s always the crazy pig lady!” “It’s Droughtbringer! He’s been so quiet lately--it could have been the guilt, right?” More voices joined the shouting match, and soon enough punches were being thrown. A pair of city guardsmen attempted to break up the fight, but it took them 15 minutes to finally round up the instigators and send them to the far corners of the shelter. When the tussle finally cleared, a body could be seen, laying facedown in the center of the shelter. It was Coop, trampled in the melee. Coop was lynched! They were a Scholar allied with the Kharbranth Citizens! Eternum was killed! They were a Private Detective allied with the Kharbranth Citizens! Scholar: Strong Opinions: Your votes cannot be tampered with. Vote count: Coop (3): Eternum, Hero, Devotary Madagascar (2): Steeldancer, Coop Player list:
  11. I'm going to be hanging out with family this evening and I'll likely have to share the computer with my younger cousins, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get on. This cycle will end at the usual time, but I won't be around for it so I would appreciate it if someone on around turnover posted a "cycle is closed" when the clock hits zero. I should be able to get next cycle up and going sometime between 1 and 2 hours after the cycle closes.
  12. Jackdonkey and Richard are holes that probably need to be corrected. I suggest "cremling" and "Straff Venture", respectively. Illegitimate child probably should stay because there's non-swearing uses for the word, and home of demons definitely does because it's in the full title of Shadows for Silence.
  13. My high school chemistry teacher used to summarize entropy and free energy by saying "everything naturally wants to be lazy and messy". So would that be Laziness and Messiness?
  14. Apologies for the inconvenience, but we have a GM error on the field. Pay no attention as I edit the write-up... at least it didn't change anything major.
  15. Ecthelion slumbered under a tree in one of Kharbranth’s few parks, blissfully unaware that a mob of angry men and women had surrounded him. “He’s been asleep for days.” “When are the street sweepers going to pick him up?” “I’m surprised someone hasn’t killed him off, what with him defenseless like this.” Talk like this continued for some time, until finally someone had the courage to approach him. They reached into his pockets and pulled out a wallet, rifling through it for some identification. “Well here’s our problem,” the brave one said, “he hasn’t been picked up by the street sweepers because he is the street sweeper. Ironic, huh.” “Well he certainly isn’t doing his job,” someone yelled from the center of the mob, “and what do we do to people who aren’t doing their job?” The mob rushed forward as one, grabbing Ecthelion and hauling him to a makeshift gallows erected at the town square. Somehow, he managed to sleep through the carrying, the chanting, and the hanging. Who knew one man could be so far asleep? ***** An assassin crouched on a rooftop, crossbow nestled into their shoulder. At the other end of the scope was a political rally. It was the first of the year for the Federal party, and it had created quite a stir. Nalter (Walin), the party’s youngest and most dynamic politician, was the emcee. As he approached the podium, Walin was mobbed by reporters, and his microphone fabrial picked up some of their questions. “Mr. Nalter, what is your stance about Shardblade control?” “Do you have any statement to make about the recent brutality against Parshendi?” “What are your plans to address the increasing class inequality between lighteyes and darkeyes?” "Do you support or oppose the Bridgeman Lives Matter movement?" Nalter waved them off and stepped up to the podium, checking for the third time that his microphone fabrial was on. He was just about to start when a small group of protestors rounded the street corner and began marching toward him, chanting. “Nalter is corrupt! Nalter is corrupt! Nalter is corrupt!” went the chant, and they carried signs bearing the same message. Not very creative, but it certainly wouldn’t help Nalter’s public image. Nalter was torn. On the one hand, he needed a show of party spirit and solidarity, and a fight would give him just that. On the other hand, it wasn’t good for a politician’s approval ratings if he condoned violence. He sighed and cleared his throat. Thud. A crossbow quarrel embedded itself in his chest. Ecthelion III was lynched! They were The Undertaker allied with the Kharbranth Citizens! Walin was killed! They were a Politician allied with the Kharbranth Citizens! Vote tally: Ecthelion III (5): Herowannabe, Madagascar, Devotary of Spontaneity, Eternum, Coop772 The Undertaker: Sweep the Streets: Each cycle, you may use your action to attack a player that did not post in the thread during the current cycle. Politician: Bribe: You can use your action to cancel a player’s vote.
  16. Player list and countdown have been edited in. It defintely didn't take me until near the end of the cycle to get around to it...
  17. A planet of cinders and ash A leader with whom Kelsier clashed "I am hope", was his cry As he was struck down to die And the hopes of the Skaa were dashed.
  18. @Steeldancer @Shqueeves So it looks like the signs I took to mean one thing actually meant another, so while the situation is still awkward for me it isn't that bad anymore. She's not trying to put a romantic move on me but she wants a close friendship that I really don't. I can deal with that much better than the alternative.
  19. The Sanderson Swearbot comes standard with all 17S accounts
