  1. I surmise from this post that you are also annoyed by overuse of the word "like". Am I right?
  2. I'd rather not spoil my image of Brandon as a writing god, so I'm happy to wait for the graphic novel release of White Sand. Also, I hate that "Halp, I'm drowning in this story because I forgot the entire first book!" feeling, which is why I have been putting off reading the final book in the Skulduggery Pleasant series. I need to go back and re-read the previous 8 books or I'll be like, "Wait, who is this again? Why are they doing that? Where did that [insert magical item here] come from?" the whole book. In other news, I finally got around to starting Marie Lu's The Rose Society today (sequel to The Young Elites), which I've had on my Kindle for ages. I'm about 60% through and I have to say, I really like Sergio even though I haven't seen a lot of him yet. Also started reading Rebel of the Sands today (print copy from my library--I like to be reading one book on my Kindle and one in print concurrently). It was obvious from the very first chapter that the heroine is a total badchull, which is especially remarkable because she lives in a completely misogynistic Middle Eastern-type society.
  3. I'm in the same boat, but getting spoilers for Arrow is unavoidable if you're watching The Flash.
  4. I had heard that Claudia Gray wrote a Star Wars tie-in, but I hadn't given it much thought until I read your gushing review, Delightful. I read her Evernight series and liked it. From your recommendation, it sounds like I will have to get my hands on a copy of this book! (Or suck a digital copy into the black hole that is my Kindle.)
  5. Huge gatherings on BYU campus that make it impossible for students to find parking that won't result in a ticket. (Women's Conference looms ominously this week...)
  6. Don't feel bad, Mistrunner... I had like no work experience when I graduated high school.
  7. There's not really a set week of the month during which we meet... We usually get together on a Wednesday (though for April it was a Thursday) and discuss here in the thread which week works for the most people. My best advice is to keep an eye on the thread and put in your two cents about what days will or won't work for you.
  8. Obliteration is definitely one of my top Sanderson villains...Although I don't hate him the way I hate Sadeas and Amaram. Those two are just cremholes, but Obliteration is kind of charismatic in a creepy way.
  9. I seriously cannot stop laughing. Sheep, you are amazing.
  10. Read a really awesome book today: "Got Luck" by Michael Darling. It kind of feels like a mix of the Dresden Files and the Iron Druid Chronicles, but cleaner than either of them. The main character, Goethe Luck, is really funny and uses "curse words" like "Son of a poodle" and "Nuggets!" Here's one of my favorite quotes from his inner monologue: "The Robaccio Restaurant was one of those places that sounded like a nice Italian trattoria--and it was. The funny thing about the place was the name: a blend of two Italian words. The word "robaccia" meant "trash" in Italian and "bacio" was "kiss." Putting the two words together was like naming a British pub the Rubbish Smooch, which someone in London really needs to do."
  11. Only if you promise to label any spoilers under spoiler tags accordingly, since I'm in the US and will have to wait until at least May 6 to see it.
  12. I think different fandoms already get along quite well. I mean, I've never heard of one fan murdering another over fandoms, whereas cross-religion violence is all too common.
  13. Mestiv's sig is pegging me in South Jordan, Utah, USA, which is about a 45-minute drive north of where I really am. I think I'm more curious about how it knows what part of the forum I'm looking at.
  14. Yes, I did. No thanks to the Search function, though. o_O Oooh. Just discovered another one: when a video ad has a mute button, but the sound continues after I press the mute button. Sense, this makes none!
  15. Storm it, I'm out of upvotes!!
  16. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't this. 72% Truthwatcher 41% Lightweaver 35% Elsecaller 35% Bondsmith 22% Stoneward 22% Willshaper 21% Windrunner 6% Edgedancer 6% Skybreaker 6% Dustbringer It seems odd to me that my top match was Truthwatcher but my 2nd runner-up was Lightweaver... They seem to be sort of opposites.
  17. So this just happened on Facebook...
  18. Weird trailer indeed! XD
  19. Annihilation
  20. Now I'm wondering if you live anywhere near my parents. Although I'm in the Orem/Provo area to go to BYU, they're in a suburb about an hour north of Cincinnati. As for party ideas... I personally really enjoy board game nights, but if you don't wanna do that, you could watch one of you and your friends' favorite movies. Or one thing my family likes to do when we have friends over is play Rock Band together, but that only works if you have the game and controllers (and friends who like classic rock). Or maybe you could go bowling? I've done that for birthday parties a few times. I've gotten very used to laughing at my abysmal bowling skills.
  21. When I can't find a forum thread I'm looking for even by using the forum's Search function. =[ The Shakespeare thread seems to have disappeared on me.
  22. "Hooked on a Feeling" from Guardians of the Galaxy
  23. A few of us Sharders who live in the Orem/Provo area get together once a month on BYU campus (specifically, in the JFSB) to eat pizza, drink root beer, and talk about basically whatever. Here's the thread in the Signings and Events forum.
