Nature certainly is weird and wonderful. I imagine these little guys could be pretty scary if you supersized them.

You now have an unlimited-battery, indestructible phone...until someone finds out you have it, becomes jealous, and knifes you so they can steal it. I wish to have a job that I enjoy and that pays $50 per hour.

I am fortunate enough to have a local classical music station that doesn't run ads because it's supported mostly by donations. Every once in a while one of the hosts will give a brief shout-out to their financial supporters, but that's far less obnoxious than the kind of ads that most radio stations play. A few times a week the hosts will spend an hour in the afternoon talking with a performer or composer, but usually that's broken up by live performances during the hour, so it's not really a talk show. Plus the stuff they talk about is music-related and therefore actually interesting.

Favorite play. Hmm... I really like Othello and Hamlet. Of the comedies, I enjoy The Winter's Tale and The Taming of the Shrew. When I was in like 6th or 7th grade, our entire grade put on a production of Taming of the Shrew. Since there were way more students than actual characters, we split into smaller groups that each did one scene. I ended up saddled with the part of Katherine in the very last scene, the one where she gives this long rant about how wives should be obedient to their husbands. (Apparently no one else wanted to tackle that monologue. XD) Last semester at BYU I was in a Shakespeare class, and our professor told us that our final exam would be two parts: a solo performance of 14-20 lines and a group performance of a scene. For my solo portion I performed part of the Merchant of Venice in which one of Portia's suitors vacillates over which casket to open. I bought some miniature wooden treasure chests from Michaels and painted them gold, silver, and dull gray to use as props for the gold, silver, and lead caskets, and had a great time hamming it up in front of the class. For the collaborative part of the exam, my group acted out a scene from Othello with sock puppets. /off-topic: Lindel, you get an upvote for your hilarious signature.

So I finished Codex Alera #2 yesterday, and now I have a theory about Tavi... Now if you've read the whole series and know how it ends, don't spoil it for me by confirming or refuting my theory! I just had to share it with somebody who would know what I was talking about.

I might be persuaded to get a Tumblr purely so I can join in the #CFSBF fun. XD- 5 comments

I really like this series. I finished reading book #7, Crucible of Gold, recently, and thought it was an improvement over Tongues of Serpents (#7). Started book 2 in Jim Butcher's Codex Alera today and plowed through about 70% of it. Very enjoyable so far.

I like some of Nightwish's songs. I've the albums "Imaginaerum" and "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", but I don't listen to all the songs because some of them have screaming, which I'm not fond of. Currently listening to Pentatonix's self-titled album.

Having one at your beck and call sounds like a good idea in theory, but when put into practice, something inevitably goes wrong. Having a lot of Breaths is like being the President of the USA.

I liked the ending of the books too. (Although Chris Paolini has now announced that he intends to write another Inheritance book, so I suppose it's not really the end anymore...) As for the movie, the writers/director/producer/whoever took "creative license" waaaay too far. I enjoyed the Eragon movie just as something to watch and be entertained by, but as an adaptation of the book it was awful.- 1963 replies

On a somewhat related note, I have never in my life tasted coffee, but I find the smell of it somewhat appealing.

Speaking of pronunciation pet peeves... It drives me nuts when people say "roof" with the same vowel as "book." (As opposed to the same vowel as in "boot.") Same thing with "root." And it seems like everybody in Utah puts a T at the end of "across."

I don't even recall ever seeing the name of the planet written down in the Mistborn books, so this might be moot point. For me, at least, the first time I was ever aware that the Mistborn world was named Scadrial was when I went to one of Brandon's signings and he was answering questions from fans.

Really! That's handy... I wonder if mentioning that you're a member of the Shard will get you a discount with purchases at conventions too...
