  1. Oops, yes, that does make more sense.
  2. Hoid's being saved for the Cosmere's grand finale, I believe, and is set to be a major character in that particular story. It wouldn't do to kill him off permanently before that point. (An aim aided by Hoid's ridiculous durability, among other powers). EDIT: Dang ninjas!
  3. I believe the Fool attribute was Cabin, who talks about what he does not understand in front of those who do. (Referring to Kaladin's now-shattered prejudices re: Shallan)
  4. Scadrial and Nalthis, although whether or not Aslydin is in fact the Terriswoman nurse is unconfirmed.
  5. That depends entirely on your confidence in your drawing abilities. Not knowing such, I would recommend staring at it (and at fanart of it) and drawing something of your own. (I'm assuming he'll notice a trace-and-color)
  6. We know Elsecalling can go point-to-point within a given Realm (see also: the Oathgates). That's probably where most of its utility comes from. Jumping from the Physical to the Cognitive Realms, on the other hand, is a touch more involved.
  7. If, as I suspect, The Beyond is like the Spiritual Realm, then he'll be doing anything and everything except "basking." Of course, none of those things will matter to the living, but if Kell ever decides to go Beyond, then he no longer cares about the living.
  8. Jasnah doesn't seem the type to panic, but I don't think further nitpicking is productive here.
  9. Jasnah's weird location there is probably partly due to her need to escape pursuers in the Cognitive Realm. She ran away from whatever spren was menacing her at the time, Elsecalled out of the Cognitive Realm, and emerged in whatever random spot she escaped to. Where Hoid just so happened to be, explaining her alarm.
  10. Perhaps, although Shallan and Jasnah were in the same room with each other during their respective jaunts into Shadesmar. Which would make the problem easier, at least.
  11. Granted. However, from hence forward, whenever you read a book, you immediately forget the contents of that book. I wish I had the power to persuade people to do anything.
  12. Well, for starters, I don't think we need a "to be continued" stinger such as Makkal and Agaris reforming. Next up, Alean's disposal is quite problematic, and Leane needs some comeuppance (Also, those names need to be changed to be less confusable for each other). I'd move toward splitting the book in two: One section for the politics, the identity hijinks, and Raeth coming to power. The second section for the metaplot, and perhaps a few targeted mirrors toward the first book, seeing Raeth find himself on the opposite side of choices made about him previously (e.g. I really, really, really want to see how he handles choosing his sons' Places). Obviously there would need to be some plot rejiggering for the first half to work correctly - maybe one of Leane's early bids for power goes off instead of the Pool bubbling up?
  13. The more detailed the Chalkling, the smarter it is? It's been a while since I've brushed up on those particular rules. Judging from general shape, I'm seeing a scorpion/horseshoe crab hybrid. Given that scale is no object, that would mean your fractal chalkling might be best suited for a tank role, something to tie up incoming chalklings while you aim your Lines of Vigor at opposing structures.
  14. Interestingly, it doesn't quite fit the hospital room connection with everything as it is in the diagram - but you can very easily see how his doctors, while trying to make his chambers a suitable operating theater, might make it so. (Remove the plants, for example, and 90% of the room is suddenly devoid of color. Remove the black lacquered furniture, and that 90% suddenly becomes grey and white) I'd love to see this in movie form.
  15. Hoid does not use Feruchemy. The exact words Brandon used to describe Hoid's plot sense were "He uses an unknown application of Feruchemy." Era 2 then told us that Chromium Feruchemy stores Fortune. Dialogue from SH plus other followup WoBs confirmed that Fortune, not Feruchemy, is the mechanic at hand.
  16. Maybe the palace gets remodeled every time a faction rises to power? And Shai's room was overlooked because before it's literally the worst guest room the palace has on offer, so the purple-ish coloring is a remnant of whichever faction was in power 3 or 4 emperors ago?
  17. Absolutely gorgeous! And it captures the feeling of Ashravan's rooms exactly like Shai describes it - the whites and silvers and greys evoke a hospital room, and the positioning of the bed is more practical for displaying a body in state than for sleeping, the design of it more like a shrine than a bed.
  18. I'm not certain that Forgery works that way, exactly - what she did with that particular alteration is retcon the construction of both rooms so her room is larger and is furnished with a hearth. Furthermore, I suspect those two changes are the products of different stamps. In any event, what Forgery cannot do is create Cognitive presences from scratch - and I spy upwards of 9 different objects which don't have counterparts in the before picture, but now exist and therefore have a presence in the Cognitive Realm. Then again, Shai is a Forging master who created a nigh-seamless AI copy of a living human from (basically) scratch within a quarter of a year, as well as a master con artist who was basically one step ahead of her captors for the entirety of her captivity. It's well within the realm of possibility that she simply asked her guards for more things to Forge. For example, that table with the cards on it was undoubtedly brought by the guards to while away yet another boring shift in Shai's room.
  19. I agree with @Ammanas that SoS is perhaps the strongest one of Era 2 to date. However, it was a slog to get through, and very few characters whom I'd liked came through looking pretty. Wayne in particular bore the brunt of this, I found, but both Harmony and TenSoon took severe hits to their respective pedestals as well. (Especially because manipulating someone to kill their wife unawares is stormed up, even more so when circumstances preclude all other alternatives) It's "Waxilium Ladrian and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Weekend."
  20. Sazed is the most powerful Shard. However, he is also the most inexperienced. Which is something that Trell is exploiting the rust out of. Hoid's not from Scadrial, nor does he have the ability to travel back in time (so far as we know). He's from Yolen, and is using Fortune (used in Chromium Feruchemy, but which we haven't seen in-depth yet) to determine where to go and what to do. Which "Voice" are you speaking of?
  21. I noticed that the color scheme changes inside and outside Shai's door (even before she Forges it). What do you suppose is the rationale for that?
  22. RAFO until The Lost Metal. Is the short answer. The long answer is "1. Store Identity in an alummind while storing the relevant power in a nicromind. 2. ??? 3. Profit."
  23. Fortune is a Realmatic concept that is used in Chromium Feruchemy. Other examples of "drawing upon Fortune," as Elrao stated to Alonoe, are sadly unpublished as yet. The Ire's tipple of choice is simply liquid Investiture (note its similarity to the mysterious liquid that Hoid applied to his oar/"boat"). More information on those who "died, but did not" as Preservation so obtusely described them can be found in Elantris.
