The Splintercast Reads Edgedancer, Episode 3
Landis963 commented on FeatherWriter's article in Shardcast
He has allomancy, specifically Mistborn allomancy. (You can actually spot him using it in WoR if you know where to look) A known allomantic power (as of Era 2) is the ability to dilate time in an area of effect. The legitimate reason I was referring to connects these two points. I would agree with @Shadow Guardian that greatshells probably don't contain perpendicularities, because there need to be at least two on Roshar (for Honor & Cultivation), we know where one is (The Horneater Peaks, where Hoid was spotted), and the other is probably in the highstorms, given what we know about them and about perpendicularities.- 6 comments

A little theory on Heleran
Landis963 replied to Did Someone Say Kill Evil?'s topic in Cosmere Discussion
Adhesion sticks enemies to floors. Gravitation allows one to fly. Division cuts things BLOWS THINGS UP at range. Abrasion makes you impossible to hold. Progression heals allies, or allows you to change the battlefield to your liking. Illumination can project decoys, or cause the opponent to misstep. Transformation can one-shot opponents. Transportation is basically teleportation. Cohesion allows one to tear things apart with your bare hands. Tension turns all your opponents' weapons into pool noodles. All those sound pretty useful in battle. -
The Splintercast Reads Edgedancer, Episode 3

Yup! "Ol' Whitehair" is our traditional Hoid cameo. Remember back in Words of Radiance when he sidestepped Jasnah's interrogation by claiming that he "once spent the better part of a year inside a large stomach"? That's how he got there. (And the funniest thing is, knowing what we know about powers that Hoid definitely has, there's at least one legitimate reason for him to swan-dive into a greatshell's open maw)- 6 comments

Why did Galivar have no statue of Shalash?
Landis963 replied to Farnsworth's topic in Stormlight Archive
@theuntaintedchild started it. -
Yes, this is in all likelihood Lightweaving. However, where's the end result? Where is the illusion that Renarin showed Relis? Unless he was able to do it with enough precision as to lightweave a scene directly in front of Relis' corneas (or 'weave a phrase directly into his ear). However, if this is not, in fact, Lightweaving (and it's definitely not Regrowth because no one is actually wounded in this scene, nor are there inexplicable plants growing) then it is a side effect of the Truthwatcher Resonance (through process of elimination). Which casts more than a few aspersions onto Renarin's visions of the future.

Actually, both the tear gland and the tear duct are out of the way of the eye spike. So it is physically possible for them to cry with the spike in place.
-
That's the one I was thinking of. Now if only I could remember why I wanted it in the first place.

Common sense would suggest "no." Luckily, the purpose of tears is to lubricate and clear the eyes, which the insertion of a large storm-off spike tends to render moot.

"That part of Preservation" manifests primarily as a constant Connection to him (and now to Harmony), one of multitudes that a person accrues throughout their life and experience. It's not a quantity as Physical beings understand it, and even if it were, it is mostly negligible (save that Preservation needed to put more into forging that Connection than Ruin did, way way back in Scadrial's prehistory, leading to things like Preservation's state of mind during Secret History) and is renewed as people die.

Assuming of course that even after he reclaims a body of some kind, that tugging he experienced when attempting to find the IRE doesn't rear it's ugly head again.

Awakeners in Tabletop RPGs would probably be much like a pet class whose "pets" can only be given one directive and thereafter would be controlled by the GM (with Breath expenditure and Awakened item sophistication controlled by d20 roll). Would need some buffs, but that seems deceptively powerful enough for a concept. (Hrm, that sparks an idea: a hermit who used his store of Breath to make an army of Awakened voodoo dolls, as a boss fight and a stress test)

Why did Galivar have no statue of Shalash?
Landis963 replied to Farnsworth's topic in Stormlight Archive
If I may quibble: Elsecalling is about one other reality - the Cognitive Realm (and therefore is much more like teleportation). Elizabeth's tears are about many other realities (and are closer in essence to the Realmatic powers granted by tapping into the Spiritual Realm, now I think of it). -
Because Adolin feels he's failed his non-combat duty to his family, and his father marrying for the second time will only drive that home.

If I had to hazard a guess, it's because the genuine article got to it. EDIT: Aaaand ninja'd. -
What's up with Nale's Skybreakers? [Edgedancer spoilers]
Landis963 replied to rjl's topic in Stormlight Archive
The same way Roshar is a cognitive location, of course. -
Not at first, but once he cottoned onto the joke, he embraced it. (I think it's in the Alloy of Law annotations somewhere)

In what proportion? And how would you get that amount of tanavastium out of the Honorblade?

Poland - Warsaw and Krakow events 18/21 March
Landis963 replied to Extesian's topic in Events and Signings
I was trying to write around the fact that Adien became an Elantrian because I didn't know how many of the Cosmere books Shal had already read. But yes. -

This brings up the question of Adien, who will be a major character in Elantris 2, and whom I probably shouldn't say more about (besides the fact, obv., that he is somewhere on the APD spectrum). (OK, he's on the less neurotypical end when we meet him) -
First off, mind the spoilers (the tags are good, but tags aren't enough to properly safeguard against people being spoiled). Second off,

I can't right now because phone, but I seem to recall that it stemmed from a question about Breath. (Leading into a statement that Rosharans were similarly Invested to Nalthians, and that both were more highly Invested than Scadrians)
-
People are more invested on Roshar than on Scadrial, by WoB. And if goldminds can heal away a cold, then Regrowth certainly can. Besides, I agree with @cometaryorbit, people on Roshar are just in better health. Must be the extra oxygen in the air. Or something, don't know the exact mechanics of it.

They do have the strengthening effects of Stormlight, which might take a chunk out of that fatality rate. EDIT: In addition to any Truthwatchers or Edgedancers that happen to be around.

Hoid was in Taldain before Warbreaker?
Landis963 replied to Chinsukolo's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Knowing Autonomy's current approach to foreign policy (as outlined by Khriss in AU), I suspect that Hoid wouldn't be able to get within a Cognitive mile of the system.
