Sorry I haven't been active. I ran a one-shot RPG yesterday, and that took up most of my free time. So my understanding of the lynch is as follows. Straw is Preservation, which means it is unlikely he has been corrupted by his Shard. However, he could still have been converted by someone. Likewise, HH is Autonomy. However, it is likely HH has been corrupted, as he has used 3 Shardic actions already, and he is planning on using his power to swing the vote. I would rather go for a sure-fire bet than a possible victory. Therefore, I am voting on Hemalurgic Headshot.

So, I have a bad gut feeling about lynching Straw. I don't know.

That ^ is worrying. There's little more than seven hours left in the turn and I'm concerned at how easy this lynch seems. There's just too many Straw votes. I'm aware that I was the one who brought up the idea of lynching Straw in the first place but I'm suddenly consumed by doubt. And sure, how fast the last lynch moved from Straw to Pyro should make us suspect that it was the eliminators' work, trying to save a teammate or something. But I can't shake this feeling. Something's wrong. That said, I see that the HH lynch doesn't hold much water now, so...

*takes deep breath

*eats hat

*eats bow tie

Hemalurgic Headshot

Yeah.

I think...MonsterMetroid

This probably won't go anywhere -the Straw lynch is pretty solid now, but I feel better with my vote here. MM is next in my list of suspicions, as anybody would notice if they read my previous posts. And I don't think they ever replied to something I pointed out and asked about early in the turn.

edit:  Ninjad by Sart. Hm. Lemme fetch the vote tally and update it

Straw (7): Eternum, Fifth Scholar, Hemalurgic Headshot, Magestar, Megasif, Randuir, TheYoungPyromancer
Hemalurgic Headshot (4): Elbereth, Jondesu, Straw, Sart
livinglegend (1): Young Bard

Monster(1): Stick

Even so, there's a fat chance that HH would get lynched. Though if my vote will make a difference, I will change it (to HH, i guess) in the morning.

Are you assuming that autonomy's win-con is anti-village? The only way I'm seeing it be a sure-fire victory to lynch HH is if  you're working with that assumption, and  if you are, I'd like to know what you think the win-cons is.

Why? I can understand wanting to go for an alternative lynch to straw or HH, but why pick LivingLegend?

edit: @_Stick_, could you sumamrize your suspicions of MM for me?

edit2: also, for those trying to predict the total votes when everything's said and done, I won't be using my anonymous vote today. Too risky if I'm passing ym shard on.

It's admittedly not much, @randuir. This post of theirs, for example:

Also just curious what charge did you use? most of the investiture that targets other people isn't exactly villager friendly, maybe I am still carrying over suspicions last game but you definitely seem suspicious devotary.

It's also the one I singled out earlier in the turn. The expression of suspicion here feels forced. It's also just how they've generally been following whatever the popular opinion is at the time in-thread, I guess. Now that I've gotten a quick look through their posts, their posts actually seem quite village at the start of the game. But eh. I'm very unsure, I'm case that wasn't clear. :P

Not sure about the swing away from Straw. I don’t think it’s a bad assumption to say lynches can be Eliminator-driven, but they can still hit Elims because there are two Elim teams, so retracting a vote on a person by saying “this seems too easy” as an excuse seems weak. The HH lynch never had much opposition, yet still accrued 7 votes. And people seemed fine with it before he claimed Autonomy.

@Sart HH would definitely have incentive to swing the vote; he’s up for the lynch. I see this as self-preservation, and not an Eliminator kind of motive. Plus, as Randuir pointed out, we have no way of knowing if Auto’s win con will help or harm the village. HH will likely get it tonight, though, so hopefully that point will be cleared up soon.

@Megasif I too would appreciate an explanation for your vote.

@randuir Why would you not use your anonymous vote before passing the Shard? There’s no reason not to use your Shardic ability, especially if you’re about to pass it to another player.

@_Stick_ If you’re “very unsure” about Monster being Elim, why did you vote on him?

I'd say there are three reasons for not doing so, at least one of which is good. First, there's the risk of me getting taken by the shardic win-con if I use the shards power too much. It would be awkward If I use its power now, pass it on using my other action, and then get told I now have ambition's win-con. Second of all, I've decided to world-hop today. I'm not going to join the rush on Honor tonight, so I might as well leave silverlight altogether. As I've got only one action left, it should be obvious what I'd better use it for. This brings me to my third point: Dominion's redirect is a night action only, so passing the Shard on should happen during the day. That's also something I recommend for anyone else considering to pass on a Shard: do it during the day, so Dominion doesn't get a chance to redirect it.

If I could be on till the very end of the cycle to see how things turn out, I might do things in a slightly different order, but this'll be my last post for this cycle, and I might check in once more in an hour or so, but that's it.

My action schedule:

N0: Get Preservation’s Investiture.

D1: Nothing.

N1: Use Preservation’s Investiture. Get more Preservation Investiture. (I got Preservation this night.)

D2: Invest in Magestar.

N3: Use my Shardic ability on Joe.

D3: Worldhop to Scadrial.

I can confirm the N3 action.

Also, i'm going to vote for Hemalurgic Headshot, not because i am all that suspicious of him, but because i trust Straw. Preservation's shardic ability is a powerful defense, and he used it on me, when he has no way of knowing if i am on his team. To me, that means he doesn't have an eliminator team, or he would protect them.

Why would lying about being a Vessel make you think it's more likely that Randuir is a villager? While a Vessel cannot gain another Shard, having a charge of Investiture that would let him protect a player, give a player an extra action, or cancel a player's vote could be useful, especially if Randuir trusts certain players enough to be willing to pass his Shard to them.

Randuir claimed to be a vessel???

Oh, huh, he did.

That's a lot of vessel claims for this cycle, then. On one hand this gives the shards accountability, on the other hand it gives the various evils useful information.

Also, investiture is useful, yes. Possibly a relic of timeline zero, but I've definitely been working under the assumption that siphoning is mostly useful as a means to get shards. I realize that assumption is actually kind of silly, though (and kind of sketchy). Shards get an extra action every cycle, so even if Randuir was using a shardic action very night, it would actually still be useful to have investiture to spend on a second action.

Oh shoot, that Dominion point is good. I hadn’t considered that o_O Dominion in Hoid’s or Khriss’s hands doing that would not be cool. Your concern, in that light, is understandable.

Do we know that using Shardic power brings you closer to its win con? I thought it was a simple timer. I mean, HH has been using Autonomy a lot, got him N0, and still (apparently) has a village win con.

Joe, I’m not sure that clears Straw. You could be Elims with him, or he might have targeted a villager just to try to gain village cred. Hmm...your point is fairly good, however. I don’t really have a better lynch target, though, so I’ll stick to him for now. Not sure I like the HH lynch much anymore, either.

Votes:

HH(7): El 1, Stick 1, Stick 3, Fifth 1, Jondesu 1, Straw 1, Arinian 1, Eternum 1, Sart 1, Joe 1, Shanerockes 1, Mage 2

Straw(5): Pyro 1, Mage 1, HH 1, Stick 2, Fifth 2, Megasif 2, Rand 2, Eternum 2, HH 3

Drought(0): Rand 1, Megasif 1

Arinian(0): HH 2

Jondesu(1): Drake 1

Randuir(0): DoS 1

Livinglegend(1): Bard 1, Megasif 3

MonsterMetroid(2): Stick 4, Bard 2

This is the fully accurate, up-to-date vote tally. As it stands, Straw is probably getting lynched because Sand Lord and Patji will jump to HH’s defense. Four hours for everyone to decide who they want to kill.

Hello, friends. Philipe De Pedro Von Leiderhuch Johnson III has arrived to the party. I have missed a lot and I was catching up on schoolwork for the end of the quarter but now I have time to participate. After looking through everything, I want to vote for HH  because I don't like people getting lynched and I don't have any actual opinions on people at the moment.

livinglegend (2): Megasif, Young Bard
Jondesu (1): Drake Marshall
MonsterMetroid (1): Stick

Sorry @Drake Marshall for missing your earlier vote.

Hmmm... I don't think either of you would make good lynch candidates. Plus, yet another lynch without receiving a death (which would be the case, if Straw were lynched and he's telling the truth about having Preservation) would be really bad for the village.

LivingLegend

Monster Metroid - I don't find them especially suspicious, but I find them more suspicious than either of the main candidates, and, they'll actually die so we'll get some concrete information to analyse, which we dearly need.

HH is a possible lynch candidate as well - if the MM lynch doesn't take off, I'll likely swap over to HH before the cycle ends.

Sorry this is so short, I'm between lectures right now. I can hopefully post more analysis tonight.

Why do you want to vote on me when you don't like people getting lynched? One of us, me or Straw, will get lynched. You are forgetting about vote manipulation and extra votes. If you voted on me because you thought that would tie the vote, then could you pick one of us with the intent to lynch them? Please choose Straw.

Because I want to. It is fair at the moment and I might change closer to the end of the cycle.

HH seems to be the more dangerous Shard out of the two of us, and he’s probably been overwhelmed by him intent. Also, he essentially has three votes, which is a rather large amount of control over the lynch.

I'm not so sure about dangerous. I still haven't been overwhelmed, surprisingly. If we lynch you, we know that Mage will get it, so we can continue to keep tabs on the Shard. If I die, it could go to anyone, perhaps an Elim, and as you said, three votes is a lot of control over the lynch. We wouldn't want that to fall into Elim hands.

Yeah I'm not sure that I really want to get a shard?  I feel like that puts a bit of a target on my back.

But I'm still suspicious of Straw?

And I really kinda do want a Shard...  Oh dear.

We should probably kill HH.  Is there any way either of them could survive the lynch?

Also, isn't HH basically gonna have at least two votes today?

Actually answering these questions won't do me any good, since I'll be asleep at rollover.

Ah well.  I suppose the right call is HH, as much as I kinda want a shard.

Posted

Why do we need to kill HH? Are you worried about Autonomy? Because all that will happen is that somebody, potentially an Elim, will inherit his Shard and win con.

Your reasoning makes no sense. Why not just not vote at all? I guess there's nothing that can be done about it, because your human form requires sleep to exist. Foolish humans. Do they not understand the weakness of their flesh? They could become... so much more. *maniacal laughter ensues*

Quite agreed, dear brother.  I think we may get along quite well.  For after all, what is Survival but not depending on others to help you live?  ;)
