In your experience, how long has it taken your crushes to fade?

Mine still hasn't quite.:P Somewhat worrying, as it developed like four years ago...

It helps if you can convince yourself that the person you're crushing on isn't all that great after all.

It's been approximately 2 years since my crush on a particular girl developed. I've been waiting and hoping for it to go away… but it hasn't. We became close friends over the past year, and I've become more besotted with her all the while. I'm friends with her for the right reasons: she's a wonderful person, and I've found a platonic love for her (according to her, she shares the sentiment) that would exist regardless of my moonstruck status. Put simply, I'm beyond sick of this crush clouding a wonderful friendship.

In your experience, how long has it taken your crushes to fade?

I know what you guys mean. There's one girl I have a crush on and it's almost purely based off looks, so it might be different, but she's also pretty darn cool. I've had a small crush on her, large at some points, for like 5 years now. I don't know if that's something that'll ever really go away. There are just other girls I've found that I develop new crushes on. XD

Crushes do fade over time. What usually happened in my case was that the guy would start seeing a different girl or just express his lack of interest in me. I'd cry, I'd eat some ice cream, and then I'd slowly move on. In retrospect, I'm glad nothing came of those crushes. Those guys went on to live lives that worked for them, but I know now that those choices weren't for me.

It's hard to say what, exactly, can make a crush fade, but I do think time and distance are factors.

Yeah, last I checked I was still head-over-heels, though since she graduated a year ago it's not as intense as it was. -_-

RE:  crushes

They can fade, they can mutate.  They can be fun to indulge your imagination in, even if you have no intention of following through on anything.  Mostly these days, I take them as a spark of, "Hey, this is a really cool person.  Hang with them and be one of the cool kids!"

But does your horn point to the nearest rainbow and play rave music?

Don't be silly.  Why would my horn broadcast rave music?  Sheesh.  No, it broadcasts music I actually like.

Yep, that's how the majority of mine go.

Not only is it one of the best...nay, possibly the best! cartoon to come out in a while, it does deal with themes such as crushes and unrequited love...So it's pertinent to this conversation!
