I was like, "the way of kings by brandon sanderson"

what monolouge from WoK did you use??

If you aren't counting the story of the Wandersail, there's only one "monologue" right?
The Epilogue - Of Most Worth

Spoiler

One of the soldiers cleared his throat. “So what is the most valuable talent a man can have?” He sounded genuinely curious.

“I haven’t the faintest idea,” Wit said. “Fortunately, that wasn’t the question. I didn’t ask what was most valuable, I asked what men value most. The difference between those questions is both tiny and as vast as the world itself all at once.”
“In this, as in all things, our actions give us away. If an artist creates a work of powerful beauty—using new and innovative techniques—she will be lauded as a master, and will launch a new movement in aesthetics. Yet what if another, working independently with that exact level of skill, were to make the same accomplishments the very next month? Would she find similar acclaim? No. She’d be called derivative.
“Intellect. If a great thinker develops a new theory of mathematics, science, or philosophy, we will name him wise. We will sit at his feet and learn, and will record his name in history for thousands upon thousands to revere. But what if another man determines the same theory on his own, then delays in publishing his results by a mere week? Will he be remembered for his greatness? No. He will be forgotten.
“Invention. A woman builds a new design of great worth—some fabrial or feat of engineering. She will be known as an innovator. But if someone with the same talent creates the same design a year later—not realizing it has already been crafted—will she be rewarded for her creativity? No. She’ll be called a copier and a forger.”
“And so, in the end, what must we determine? Is it the intellect of a genius that we revere? If it were their artistry, the beauty of their mind, would we not laud it regardless of whether we’d seen their product before?
“But we don’t. Given two works of artistic majesty, otherwise weighted equally, we will give greater acclaim to the one who did it first. It doesn’t matter what you create. It matters what you create before anyone else.
“So it’s not the beauty itself we admire. It’s not the force of intellect. It’s not invention, aesthetics, or capacity itself. The greatest talent that we think a man can have?”
“Seems to me that it must be nothing more than novelty.”

OOOOOOO which story??

I didn't use a story, because the time limit was 45 seconds (!) and that would just be too long. Instead I used the him insulting people one. I edited and trimmed it a little bit, and this was the final product:

Spoiler

Lady Marakal! What a disaster that hairstyle is; how brave of you to show it to the world.

Lord Cadilar! How good it is to see you. Your face reminds me of someone dear to me.

My horse.

Lady Alami! No, please, don’t speak—it’s much easier to maintain my illusions regarding your intelligence that way.

And Lord Dalinar. [nod respectfully]

Ah, my dear Lord Taselin. Still engaged in your experiment to prove a maximum threshold of human idiocy? Good for you! Very empirical of you.

Ah, Lord Habatab! How thoughtful of you to wear a red shirt with a sunburn like that! If you continue to make my job this easy, I fear my mind shall become as dull as Lord Tumul’s!

Oh, Lord Tumul! How unexpected it is to see you standing there! I didn’t mean to insult your stupidity. Really, it’s quite spectacular and worthy of much praise.

Oh wait, @OOKLA_the LIV you asked too, didn't you? I can't quote in an edit, so just tagging you

If you click quote, you can "cut" that from the reply section and paste it into your edit section. I tested with an Admin to verify an edit-added quote still sends a notification.

Please see Sharder FAQ for more, similar forum info.

Hope that helps

YKYASW you use a Hoid monologue for an audition for The Hobbit play.

MAJOR PLOT TWIST:

Another guy also used a monologue from a book.

The book was also a Sanderson book.

The monologue...

WAS ALSO A HOID MONOLOGUE.

I auditioned with only FOUR OTHER PEOPLE out of like SIXTY AUDITIONING OVERALL.

This is insane.

(I got in even though I'll be missing three PERFORMANCES! I am 1st Rivendell* Elf/Mirkwood Ensemble!

*although they misspelled it as Rivendale 😭

Yeah, nobody asked, but I'm excited.)

WAIT... I didn't think of that.

(Wind and Truth)

YKYASFW you are talking about the cosmere to one of your teachers and a teacher next to you happens to be reading stormlight so you end up talking to him and convincing him to finish mistborn era 1 (he's read the final empire) and Secret History before Rhythm of War (and Dawnshard)

Edit: Yes, I know the placement of Secret history is debated. I think it depends on where the person is and how much they want to read. This teacher doesn't plan on reading the whole cosmere, especially not to just read another book to catch connections because he has other books to read, so this placement works best for him.

YKYASF when you were writing an after-action report for a Pokemon game you ran, accidentally derped and called two players Voidbringers*, and don't have the faintest idea why you used that word instead of...whatever you probably originally meant >>

*I'm actually more disturbed that the players I called Voidbringers didn't ask me why Voidbringers came out of nowhere...

YKYASFW

You start babbling/cackling about new theories and surprises, but all you get is blank, mildly concerned stares from your non-sandersonian classmates

And:

when you see that the back yard is misty at 2am so you grab your cloak and spend 1 1/2 hours running around barefoot outside

And:

When your poems suddenly become vastly influenced by Mistborn

Sad day.

ykyasf you start rambling about books in counseling and convince your therapist to read Sanderson.
