Lieutenant Jiang Zhangrong saluted the Captain and turned to face their fellow soldiers. So many were better suited for the pen than the sword, and some seemed a little... undedicated to the cause. They would never accuse someone of treachery without convincing evidence, but some soldiers clung to the ideals of other factions. Any one of them could be the killer. Not even those who seemed most loyal could be truly trusted. Zhangrong had broken bread with these soldiers. They had lived around these soldiers for a long time. Disloyalty had not been a shadow in the back of the mind. Until now. Until the ambassador lay dead despite, and perhaps because of, the actions of the guard. They would do what they could. They would do what they must.

I'm fine with duplication of every other role, heads-up to anyone else considering the Lieutenant Background that for vague reasons of some sensemaking, I'm considering this Background taken now.

I'll put you down as a pinch-hitter but will note there's no guarantees about it. That work for you?

“Anyone up for a game of Imperial lidan?” Randen asked nervously. He needed something to take his mind off the ambassador’s death. It was unsettling to think that there were traitors among them, and even more unsettling to speculate on which of his friends; his colleagues; the people he’d laughed with all these years; could be a murderer and a defector.

Tentative rules (basically just rummy with flavor)

Spoiler

Four suits: swords, flowers, cups, and stamps

Ten cards in each suit, numbered one to ten

Two Dor cards

(Usually played with multiple decks, so you don’t have to worry about duplicate cards when using RNG)

You can play sets of three or more cards of the same number (6 6 6 6, e.g.)

…or runs of three or more cards in the same suit, numbered consecutively (7 8 9 10, e.g.)

You can also add on to already-played runs and sets.

If the Dor card is played, the playing field is wiped clean — all played runs and sets are discarded.

Each player is dealt ten cards at the beginning of the game. On their turn, they may play as many cards as they wish OR draw a card from the deck.

The player who gets rid of their cards first is the winner.

Wha-?

smh Lil Uzi Vert is a rapper.

Sign me up as Fletcher, a shady fence specialised in dealing with illegal/non-native artefacts. Infamously known Fletcher the Fetcher in those circles.

Thought I'd make a reference to buying or selling an item each cycle, if that's fine with you.

I feel like we need RP characters for the spec doc now :P

Ok. You are now tasked with getting all the spectators to come up with RP characters, thanks :P

Bhai, your rap knowledge is better than mine :P

That works for me.

Kind of ironic as the reason I’m spectating is because I don’t have time for a committed RP game in the midst of the end-of-school-year push, but hey, at least this way there’s no requirement :P

I’ll be Lee, the spec-doc spy

“Pardon me,” Mallard said. “I am hard of hearing, ever since that Spiked Duck puked in my ear. I’ll play!” Mallard was a very large woman. Not fat, just large. She raised her bulk up and made her way toward the table Randen sat at.

[OOC: Now uh… how do we go about playing it?]

Mallard plays three ones. I wish my duck wrangling skills could translate into this.
