  1. @Spoolofwhool Edit: Coppermind: " Atium is notable as it is the condensed power of the Shard Ruin. It was sequestered away at the Pits of Hathsin by Preservation when the latter gave up his mind to trap Ruin. "
  2. Actually, they are pure Investiture of the shards. They would also resist, though in a lesser, and quite possibly unnoticeable, fashion (Atium is not noted as being any harder to Push).
  3. @Vindicator There is no " interaction between magic" involved in savantism - it is a single-power misting (and possibly ferring - I don't know if we have a confirm or deny in that regard) utilizing their power at an extreme level. The WOB Yata has given in the OP clearly discusses an interaction between magics, which doesn't occur for any non-Raskek/Hemalurgically-modified people (i.e. the crew, who manifest savantism in the form of Spook, Kelsier, and possibly others). I think this is great to know; personally, I wonder if the "effect" can be spiked separately from the powers.
  4. I think that what happened was the Resealers were given a choice: leave the Emperor's body to die with his Soul and memories intact, or to heal the body and mind, effectively erasing the connections to the soul. If Shai had been more medically experienced and on site during the assassination, I think the OP's suggestion would work. However, she wasn't, so the Resealers in essence overwrote his soul with a blank, uninjured, healthy but vegetative brain. Shai then had to come in for damage control.
  5. I believe Sanderson has also stated (in reference to Seons and Skaze) that large amounts of Investiture without a mind do gain sentience @Argent.
  6. Kelsier remained unable to burn metals in the Scadrian Cognitive Realm - however, this may be due to the fact he was a shadow and not an actual living person. I believe there is a scene where Kaladin peeks into the Cognitive Realm while Lashing - not sure if that is relevant, but it is info. Some fabrials can be used in the Cognitive Realm (see the Ire's contraption, though again, it may be odd).
  7. I believe that is in reference to Nightblood.
  8. I think its probably a function of being Returned - Vasher has a bond with the Divine Breath that animates him, and thereby (in my opinion) can utilize stormlight on Roshar.
  9. I had an idea for Knighthawk's problem (spoilers for Calamity) Edit: Also, I approve of the new rules; my two cents are that if someone new wants to create more Epics after a first, they should prove they are dedicated with the first, and have significant plans for the second that relate to the city plot. Also, I feel like the biggest problem with the new Epic surge is the problem I had when I joined: if you look at Phoenix, he's an Epic with a cool powerset and a PI. Look at the Ghost, my second, non-introduced idea: a cool powerset, High Epic badchull. Then look at Jumpdrive. He's an integral part of his city with a backstory, planned future story, friends, family, hobbies, personality both pre- and post-Calamity, and he's also an Epic [with cool powers and a PI]. Jumpdrive is a character first, powerset second. I think we should help the new guys develop characters and plot lines, then develop powers to go with it, not the other way around.
  10. No, they are the gaseous analog of Lerasium, which can be distilled somehow into solid pure preservation, i.e. Lerasium (there's WOB out there on it, if you want to know specifically). I personally doubt ettmetal would qualify. Surely someone would figure that out, in the time the South has had to play with ettmetal. It just takes a non wet finger to touch the metal, and boom, you would figure out how to be a Feruchemist, so I think it's pretty implausible.
  11. a ton of breath < shard
  12. Actually, I believe that Feruchemy enables you to utilize the Feruchemical investiture as well. For example, Wax cannot tap an unkeyed goldmind. However, with the right nicrosilmind, this should be possible, yes.
  13. please don't necro.
  14. Hoid in a additional scene in the 10th anniversary edition of Elantris
  15. I don't believe so, but they might be able to as an extension of being aware of powers, like Prof assumably assumibly -you know the word- probably could tell where his forcefields were, even if they were out of sight. On the other hand, it is sort of passive upkeep on the power after its gifted, so... Basically I have no idea.
  16. The point of the above post was in support of the OP, which stated there could be a way to store an Allomantic "flavor" of Investiture in it's respective metal. This is true in all aspects save that it is stored in it's correlating metal - Bands of Mourning makes it clear that this is stored in Nicrosil. However, seeing as that post was made in 2013, it was both valid and applicable when it was posted. Please don't disrespect someone merely because they made a post 3 years ago that is now known to be wrong - there was a time, believe it or not, when he didn't know about cadmium and bendalloy, and yet posts theorizing what these metals could do aren't any more wrong than current posts on the red-shifting occurring within them. They are merely outdated. Some times, when we learn things, we find out that past theories were wrong. For example, this quote was written in 2010 in the oldest Mistborn forum thread with the information they had. That's what I was thinking had happened. I don't really see the point of creating new metals above and beyond the 16; it throws off the balance of the system. And yet now we know of Trellium, ettmetal, and Harmonium. However, no one has necroed the above thread for it's inaccuracy. To repeat myself from above, Please respect forum rules and respect in future posts, as you seem to have ignored repeated advice to stop arguing over long dead theories.
  17. Relevant WOB dump: I'm not sure of their implications, but there they are. I seem to remember one about storing different kinds of tin in the same piece of metal, but I didn't see it.
  18. That's not how Nicrosil works. It's aspected to the abilities of the person storing it, keyed with their identity, not Preservation's. That's just ... not how it was explained at all. Also, as the OP, I do want to recognize that the thread itself was published in 2013, so many of the ideas involved are outdated. It predates Shadows of Self, and only barely postdates Alloy of Law. If you want to discuss and expand the original ideas, that'd be great, but if it's just a post notifying everyone that nicrosil works in feruchemy the way its shown, please start a new thread. Thank you for your consideration.
  19. Coma Unrelated note: A friend and I were talking about the RP, and we figured out a way for Jumpdrive to fly. Take two remote control helicopters, put poison dart frogs on top of them without messing up the copter's flyability, and have him step off a building toward it. His PI should negate his momentum relative to the frog without disintegrating anything (since it is alive), and he can move the copters around beneath him and step on them like floating stairs. There's a huge potential for failure and falling, but I find the image of JUmpdrive flying around like this hilarious.
  20. Ok. May I suggest the following: Say Miles stores one unit of investiture (1 UI) as Feruchemical gold in a metalmind. Let us also say that this metalmind has a size that, when burned, normally releases 5 UI in the form of Allomantic gold. Suppose he then burns this metalmind. I propose he would gain the original 1 UI in the form of Feruchemical gold; however, he also changes the format of the released 5 UI into Feruchemical gold. Therefore he has a total of 6 UI of Feruchemical gold. In other words, Feruchemical power from compounding (pfc) = pfo (original feruchemical power) + pao (power originally allomantically derived from the metal). This power from allomancy would be dependant on mass (m) of the metal so, pao(m) in function notation. So, pfc = pfo + pao(m).
  21. Granted, as long as you don't mind that your original form is a pair of cells (that was your original form pre-birth) I wish that I was a Mistborn without any adverse side effects, and that I remained developing as I currently am identically as in the currently existing time stream save for this exception.
  22. The Reckoners RPG is a grenade fillled with confetti for the 17th Shard - really loud, cool, and shiny, but you don't get too close unless your insane.
  23. Unfortunately, you never said they had the opportunity to eat it. The food appears, then disappears after they attempt to eat it. I wish that the lawyer genie always types in typos.
