So since some of you are better with weird physics than I am, a light wave and a gravity wave race. Which one wins? Both travel at c, but does the gravity wave shorten time for itself? Also, Epic based on whichever you think would win: Gravispeed: Can move faster in accordance with the force of gravity he experiences, i.e. v(adapted)=v(original)*(amount of g's experienced). Can go faster than light in a black hole. Lightlight: Can negate the effects of gravity the faster he is moving, i.e. g(experienced)=g(normal)/v. Yes, his name is Lightlight. It's a good name, don't make fun of it. Edit: Is he experiencing 30 seconds, or is the outside world?

I think there is a WoB that they can't have a weakness that neutralizes their power.

Depends on the technique. Wax can create a steel bubble that deflects bullets passively. However, a good mistborn would snipe them with their bullets from a range, as I believe a machine gun's accuracy drops way down over distance. However, a tank shell would be the problem, explosions are hard to dodge. I think the best strategy is some metal bomb pushed to the tank. As for Shardbearer v. Mistborn, coin to the face. From a distance. Way too easy, esp. with atium. Without it's a matter of staying in the air out of reach and repeatedly firing coins. Profit.

Duralumin steals fSpiritual powers according to the coppermind.

Normal Ferrings run out of Luck, probably decently quickly. Just make it a long fight, which being koloss-blooded and able to push away bullets helps alot with.

I believe that the following is true; however, it is not confirmed absolutely. Shards have a finite amount of attention. Proof: See Ruin in HoA, SH, Preservation in SH. Leras therefore sacrificed the greatest amount of his attention, and therefore his capability to actively counter, in the imprisonment of Ruin. Therefore, while a small portion of him was free to act as he did following this, the majority of Preservation's consciousness, Leras's mind, was focused on maintaining an escapeless prison for Ruin. It required nearly his full attention to counter Ruin. As Ruin attacked this consciousness, it lost power - it was being destroyed. When this was complete, Leras died. Upon Leras's death, the Shard of Preservation had no capability to act, with no mind, until Kelsier took it. He provided the mind of Preservation until he gave it to Vin.

I believe this could be the dakhor from elantris.

Michael hadn't survived. They’d found a ghoul who vaguely resembled him, the same blond hair, the same height, genetic markers in the right places, though some of those had distorted. Jumpdrive remembered walking back to the library in a daze, still stunned by the violence and the gore of the fight. He’d changed, showered, checked the camera footage. One of the non-Epics sent to identify the dead and clean up called him that afternoon. Michael’s corpse had been located not far from the collapsed building, two bullets lodged in his skull, a beam rammed through his chest. Jumpdrive had killed him. Killed his friend, the only one who'd really understood him, the only one from college who hadn't evaded him following his Rending. And when another Epic had used him, Jumpdrive had shot him. Twice. What kind of a person shot his friend to death? Later that evening at the funeral home Jumpdrive stood. “Michael’s parents asked me to give a eulogy for their son. I don't think I'm qualified. I… I killed him, for goodness sake, a man who called me his friend. He trusted me to protect him, he stood up for me when times were hard, he acted like he enjoyed traipsing around town to check cameras. But when times were hard for him, the only thing I could give him was an end to his misery. An end to his joy. A cold bullet to the brain. Um… A eulogy is ‘a speech or writing in praise of a person or thing, especially a set oration in honor of a deceased person.’ I'm not good at expressing emotions, and I feel anything I would say just wouldn't convey the same meaning and depth he deserves. So I’d like to share the following from Abraham Lincoln’s eulogy: ‘After life's fitful fever he sleeps well, Treason has done his worst, nor steel nor poison, Malice domestic, foreign levy, nothing Can touch him further!’ And from the Challenger astronauts eulogy: ‘What we say today is only an inadequate expression of what we carry in our hearts. Words pale in the shadow of grief; they seem insufficient even to measure the brave sacrifice of him whom you loved and we so admired….The sacrifice of your loved one has stirred the soul of our city and, through the pain, our hearts have been opened to a profound truth: the future is not free, the story of all human progress is one of a struggle against all odds. We learned again that this America, which Abraham Lincoln called the last best hope of man on Earth, was built on heroism and noble sacrifice. It was built by men and women like Michael, who answered a call beyond duty, who gave more than was expected or required, and who gave it with little thought of worldly reward.’ I… can’t express the feelings of my heart with more eloquence than these esteemed writers and orators. So I’ll just leave it at that.” He sat back down, surrounded by people, yet utterly alone in his grief.

Jumpdrive post going up, in which he supports emotionally-charged plagiarism. It may be a little early to end the day for him, but he should be wrapped up the rest of the day.

How would you guys create perpetual energy and investiture?
18th Shard replied to shadowwisp's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Nightblood. Wait... Seriously though, Forge a battery to have not been used. Use it to pass energy to another battery, then break the seal and repeat. -
No, each tie is a direct one to one thing. To tie herself or anyone else to a different person, she has to dissolve the existing tie.

On the Fates, Atropos is not the mobile one, Lachesis is. She has no Insta-kill, nor a PI (though she can sort of borrow a PI). Atropos's instakill requires the twins to touch the person to create a thread, which is then able to be used to kill. It is less powerful then Deathpoint, although admittedly they have a PI. Summary of changes: Passive of the conjoined twins: threads form out of nowhere, condensing to heal the injury. Heals virtually every physical injury: illness/diseases can be healed through self destruction, though this is painful. In this case, the threads appear and sew into the two fully healthy. Conjoined twins are either always in intense pain or have a spinal defect preventing them from feeling pain During their Rending, they couldn't murder each other - their PI would heal them back as they were (also prevents splitting surgery) and if a weakness was in effect it would kill both (the living twin would heal both's bodies but the dead twin's half would be dead and begin to decay/have necrosis, which would eventually kill both). This should balance them somewhat, as either twin's weakness is a death sentence for both.

Sorry, between spring break and not having any email notifications when Q18 ended, i was absent. Wastelands post being worked on, I'm trying to combine infrastructure remodeling, response to the Immortal, and a innitiative toward alliance with Blackhoof (specifically Quakezone) in one post with a couple of POV's, so it's slow, but it is coming. Salem: Voidus, what do you think as far as still having the Switch/Paradox fight going on, or is it just the bar fight need "today" and we'll do the actual fight next gameday? Corvallis: Jumpdrive post upcoming. It will be his assistant's funeral, at which he will awkwardly try to convey his emotions. This one will be both amusing and somber, so it's really fun. This one will probably be done over the weekend. Also, Comatose, if you want to have Phoenix kidnapped/recruited by Insight, that can bring him back into the plot. Edit: Argh, Quota strikes again!

Cookies In The TARDIS: The Intro Thread Fight
18th Shard replied to Master Elodin's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
Xanas ate the pineapple, then smiled as his grandfather was killed. Fortunately, he was already a temporal-spatial anomaly. He'd killed his father last week two years before his own birth. With a meteor. It also wiped out the dinosaurs on Yolen. Modern scientists had begun calling them dragons, but that was a mistranslation. Xanas proceeded to have a conversation with himself. -
Also, the spike containing one Allomancer's ability is then gone. You wasted a permanent Soother spike for a single strong Soothing, even if iti works the way you proposed. Non-economic use here.

Honor Spren Hiding and Cryptic Out In the Open?
18th Shard replied to Random Observations R Me's topic in Stormlight Archive
lies are given more power by the more truthful they are. The most effective lie is the one that is so similar to reality it is indistinguishable, but produces a different effect on the person you tell it to. -
Cookies In The TARDIS: The Intro Thread Fight
18th Shard replied to Master Elodin's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
Xanas broke out of reality using the Breaking Talent, then broke the Tardis. Then balefired it. Then Deus Ex Machina'd the door into oblivion. Then ate a cookie. -
People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
18th Shard replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
Yeah, and don't swap it out for duralumin. That's really embarassing. Last time, I destroyed half a planet, and it still hasn't tapped gold yet. -
I would enjoy joining as joining appears to be enjoyable. I would write a tautology here, but because writing a tautology is hard, I found it difficult, and so won't write a tautology.

Cookies In The TARDIS: The Intro Thread Fight
18th Shard replied to Master Elodin's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
Xanas smiles at the childish fighting, then ports away, sealing off the Tardis from the physical Realm, and setting a mind bomb he'd gotten from Darth Bane (it resided in a force-sensitive koala). -

Hey Voidus, what anout the Ghost, that assasin Epic I made a while back but never used? He could work. I would want him as a NPC because I can't do more characters, but he seems to fit the bill.

Oh, I agree. The table was more of what we know, the rest was pure speculation. I just wanted to see if there was anything more definite out there.

Thank you, I will fix/add those.
