  1. I get totality where I live. I know schools here are basically letting kids out to see it.
  2. See the Reckoners RPG. one example from my own creations: the ability to have perfect memory combined with the ability to "download" information via touch [see Jumpdrive]
  3. I think TLR if he was actually trying is as powerful as the bands - you have to remember, when he's fighting Vin, he's really not trying. otherwise, boosted steel and compounded iron and he could rip her to shreds without moving a muscle.
  4. I believe it has been confirmed to be Nazrilof.
  5. I just wanted to point out that when Tor or anyone says a character is more honorable because they follow those oaths, that is inverting the cause and effect. They bond a spren because of how they act when they don't have those Oaths sworn. They swear those oaths because it is part of who they are, who they want to be, not for vice versa. Sure, Kaladin may save even people he hates because he has sworn an oath, but he was willing to do that before he swore it. It is also no less honorable than when Dalinar withholds from killing Sadeas or anyone else he hates, even though he has not sworn an Oath. I agree with what someone (I apologize, I forgot who) said - Honor is choosing the harder path because your morals demand it, even if there is no one there to condemn you. Szeth's morals place following the law absolutely above the lives of innocents. You can disagree with the ordering of his values, but he shows more honor than almost any character in this regard. For example, which of us would choose to allow a beloved family member, a young daughter, to be brutally slaughtered when not doing so would result in the deaths of dozens of innocent orphans? It's a nightmarish conundrum, based on the conflict between our morals of the value of lives and the value of our family. Would you break the law to provide evidence to incriminate someone? Would you torture someone to gain crucial information to save lives? Szeth faced these kinds of decisions every time he killed, and held true to the morals he had. That may not be honorable to us because we have different values, but it is honorable to him.
  6. Perhaps insert a term which results as 0 when x is odd/even? Ex. y= x^2 + 1 + x*([x+1]mod 2)
  7. Of course. They make delicious anti-materialism cookies. [But do they bake the cookies or are they baked into cookies?...]
  8. Hoid did not gain Elantrian powers in the new scenes for Elantris.
  9. I've always imagined them filling up like capacitors - there is a hard limit, but it does get harder and harder to fill them as you put more in.
  10. Little late here, but tweet it at Brandon?
  11. By that logic, the idea that Vasher is actually Kelsier reborn and then healed is also not impossible. Impossibility is virtually (ironically) impossible to prove - the "virtually impossible" there really means improbable at a significance level even Mat Cauthon or a Chromium Compounder wouldn't bet on. I would say it is essentially impossible, seeing as we know Kelsier was resurrected not long after the Catacendre from BoM, and that happens prior to WoK. In general, if you do want to do something like this in the future, it may be better received if you create a new topic and simply link to the old one with a hyperlink. Necroing is considered bad form and may often instantly kill any actual discussion rather than sparking true conversation. Thanks. @EpicSOB
  12. Well, and a bit of Ruinous investiture that will slowly corrupt your Spiritweb and model it after the chimeras in Shadows of Silence. But still quite delicious. contains 256 essential minerals and nutrients [mostly the metallic ones].
  13. Unsheath Nightblood and toss him towards either Forsaken. Nightblood should drain whatever power they are using, so then it's a one Forsaken v. Rest. Especially if the Lord Ruler duralumin-soothes the Forsaken. However, if the Cosmere characters dont make use of their fast kills, balefire ruins pretty much any plan.
  14. We have these over in the Dark Alley. Some of the cookies will absolutely take your breath away!
  15. Good question. No. Being an oculator is random thorughout the population, including non-Smedries. Smedries are special, but not unique, in Oculator-y. Cultural reasons? Plus, how many people really want Smedry talents? alot of people see those as synonymous with insane, luny, reckless people. which is true.
  16. Followup related question this brings to mind - Suppose a spike is made, for example's sake, an iron one. Suppose this spike is very long, i.e. two feet. Suppose this is then used to steal Allomantic iron powers, and implanted into a person through the heart. Then suppose the spike, because of its size, is sticking out the back of the person by a foot and a half, and a second person is then impaled through the heart with it. The spike is then slowly pushed through the first person farther into the second person. At what point does the spike consider itself "in" the second person? is there any point at which it is "in" both individuals?
  17. Well, see, Iron Hemalurgically steals human physical strength. This is what is used to create koloss. It would make you stronger physically, i.e. you could lift perhaps 150% of your normal weight when lifting weights. It doesn't affect your allomantic strength. However, steel does steal iron allomantic strength. This means you would be doubly strong in allomantic iron, but not exponentially stronger, like compounding does. Not sure how much of the series you've read, so Hero of Ages spoiler http://coppermind.net/wiki/Hemalurgy
  18. Szeth specifically notes in his POV that this is incorrect, that plate interferes with his capability to Lash others. This may be different if one is using their own plate (i.e. the one created by a Radiant used by that Radiant), but in this case would be incorrect.
  19. Nightblood, the God King's store of breath, and the Bands of Mourning. OP enough?
  20. But if you are that intelligent, you can actually logically extrapolate responses due to a statistical analysis of past experience. If you had intelligence high enough to literally recall every moment of your life and subconsciously analyze every human interaction you ever observed or were a part of without emotion coloring your point of view, you could theoretically be able to predict the masses' reaction to events fairly easily. The problem lies in the outliers, specific people who act differently such as Dalinar, Kaladin, Shallan, perhaps Jasnah and the Heralds. There it is not a question of what a normal distribution of people having enough people react as you can predict, but in having a single person who has a massive influence. See the concept of Asimov's psychohistory: "Psychohistory depends on the idea that, while one cannot foresee the actions of a particular individual, the laws of statistics as applied to large groups of people could predict the general flow of future events. Asimov used the analogy of a gas: an observer has great difficulty in predicting the motion of a single molecule in a gas, but can predict the mass action of the gas to a high level of accuracy. (Physicists know this as the Kinetic theory). Asimov applied this concept to the population of his fictional Galactic Empire, which numbered a quintillion. The character responsible for the science's creation, Hari Seldon, established two axioms:that the population whose behaviour was modeled should be sufficiently large, and that the population should remain in ignorance of the results of the application of psychohistorical analyses."
  21. Excellent job, I really enjoyed it. The mechanics seem fairly self-consistent, which is something that always irks me about some time travel stories when they fail to do so, like the Cursed Child. I also liked the math analogies, as those made it make sense to the rest of us. I don't envy trying to set up a situation that succeeds, I tried to think of one and can't get one that is super satisfying. Maybe he gets Korel to go back in time, injects his sister with the cure, but ensures that no one figures out its Korel until later. This causes Torran to go to Korel to thank him, at which point Korel realizes he never did so in his life yet, and Torran asks Korel to go back in time and give his sister the cure. Would that work? @Claincy

  23. I shall not deign to insult any of you directly; my mere presence here is an insult to you from those of us who are capable of complex thoughts such as "food" or "good". While many of you are incapably paraphrasing that which you hear often, I would hope at least one of you had some originality. That idea may have a P-value of .00000000000000001, but that means it is still possible, if only a little less possible than the notion Reckoners is actually Cosmere.
  24. Collapse? Absolute silence is necessary for the ensured survival of our Master Plan. Sometimes you must make many noises to hide the ones you don't want noticed, the screams of terror delight, the roaring abominations ovens. Sometimes, you must remain quiet, in hopes that no one notices the haunting baker sneaking behind them, readying a cookie and plunging it into your back. So don't worry. Most of us are not gone, merely stalking those too unobservant to see their impending purchases. @Cluny the Scourge
  25. You live under the middle ocean in a cave grotto on Roshar, and are a dustbringer who has sworn only the first oath. You have no stormlight or food, and limited air which over time is poisonous (Oxygen under high pressure is poisonous). Unfortunately, the water pressure outside of the grotto will kill you if you try to leave anywhere. I wish to be able to grant myself boons and banes without intervention from others.
