  1. Wow. That's kind of insane. ...I want one.
  2. It's probably too late for your paper, but I'll post it for anyone else who's interested: J.R.R. Tolkien: Author of the Century by Tom Shippey talks a lot about Tolkien's history and writing. It's a really good read.
  3. I've had more than a few dreams involving Mistborn: The Inquisition. But sadly, I can't remember anything specific about them.
  4. There are a couple up in the signings section, and mine is also on the front page of the site. Don't forget the pics I've been posting in the gallery!
  5. Don't worry. I've checked my schedule, and you're not on the spiking list for today. .....yet.
  6. Thanks, zas! You actually got some of the stuff I overheard and then forgot to type up for this. I've added your info to the first post.
  7. I've moved these posts into the Mistborn board. When a mod asks you to take a discussion to a more appropriate board, please do so. Thank you.
  8. I did you one better; I moved this post into the existing 11/10 signing thread. Thanks for the report, guys!
  9. I love how Brandon even asked if the person was a 17th Sharder. Question-asker, if that was you and you're on here, let us know!
  10. Don't forget, guys, we also have to worry about copyrights as far as what we're allowed to sell. Our merchandise will have more to do with our site in and of itself; if you want purely Brandon-themed merchandise, you'd have to get it from Brandon's site, Badali, or Inkwing, since they have the licenses to legally sell that stuff.
  11. Adblock plus sort of defeats the purpose of the ads, though.
  12. Oh, okay. I wasn't sure, since you didn't mention that part of it. Still, it's a good reminder to give to other people, I guess. That said, Brandon has mentioned that the original Mistborn series was pitched as a trilogy of trilogies. So, nine books. Plus, we have the additional novels following Wax, Wayne, & co. Now, Brandon said that we wouldn't understand the bendalloy bubble clue until "about ten books" from now. What's in that final Mistborn trilogy? Allomantic FTL travel. Hmmm...
  13. Keep in mind, though, that the Alloy of Law's technology level is comparable to that of the Edwardian period. I doubt they've even thought of refractive indexes at all yet, let alone measured them. What one might see now as refraction, someone back then might view as behaving erratically just because the bullet doesn't move in a straight line.
  14. He definitely was; he was the one who taught Vin how to use bronze. And agreed - savanthood and spikes are for the most part, irrelevant, unless we're guessing how it's done. Even then, even Inquisitors couldn't sense Feruchemists. I'm willing to bet it has more to do with knowledge of what one is doing and how one wants to accomplish it than simple raw power. Also, if bronze can sense other instances of Investiture, it stands to reason that copper can likely conceal it as well.
  15. Act 5, you said? Holy crap. Holy CRAP. HOLY CRAP. That is all.
  16. Greetings, Sharders! I'm pleased to announce the birth of a new usergroup here on 17th Shard: the Worldsingers! In our efforts to bring you the most up-to-date coverage of all things Brandon, the Admins have decided to create a dedicated group just for covering news, updates, and interesting things from every corner of the Cosmere and beyond. You'll see us making news and blog posts, as well as tweets about, well, pretty much anything we find relevant and newsworthy. Joining this group of intrepid reporters are: Comatose Mycoltbug Zas678 Rubix, as head of the new News department Myself So if you come across anything you think might be newsworthy, let one of us know!
  17. It's an interesting idea, but unfortunately it would take way more coding than we can dedicate to it at the moment. If you want images of the books you've read in our signature, the best thing to do would be to photoshop a signature image with the books you've read and put it in your sig yourself. I'm not sure how it would make anything less spoilery, though. Seeing what books other people have read doesn't really make a difference when posting in threads where spoilers are allowed.
  18. Yeah, unfortunately it's built into the forum software that we can't do that. Sorry.
  19. Yeah, I'm against premium membership as well, though I like the idea of giving rewards for people who donate certain amounts, if possible.
  20. Updated! I was there when he wrote the Bendalloy hint; I was the one who kept squinting at his handwriting. XD I wonder if it has to do with the FTL travel in the final trilogy? Also, note what happens in Alloy when bullets leave time bubbles. Wax mentions it in one of his narrations.
  21. Still, that's pretty awesome that he gets to go. I wish I could visit Blizz.
  22. You don't have to steal it. I just gave it to you.
  23. That would be seriously epic.
  24. Warm? We're definitely warm. I cranked the thermostat to 75 when we got back from the Alloy release. Also, welcome! Have a cookie:
  25. Chaos is actually in the process of building pages about Brandon's books, and we're working on getting Amazon affiliate links put up. It just takes a lot of time to build all that up. As for the staff suggestion, promotions have been - and always will be - made based on non-monetary contributions to the site and how well we think new staff members will work with those we already have. Money isn't a factor, period. It's simply not fair to those dedicated members who can't afford to buy their way on, so to speak, and I don't even want to get into the doors that would open for drama and what have you. Thanks for the suggestion, though. As you already know, Mi'ch, I'm all for merchandising and the like.
