  1. Wow, I fail at seeing threads before the characters get posted. I apologize, Silus; when this post went up I had a lot going on, and things are just starting to settle down. You and Eric have already finished brainstorming Coron's story, but for the sake of other potential members reading this, I'll answer your question again. The RPG operates under the assumption that the Lord Ruler already knows what he's doing with Hemalurgy, since he's already ruled for 900 years, and thus probably wouldn't be experimenting with it. But then, you and I know that someone else in the RPG might be... A word of warning to any potential members interesting in using Hemalurgy for a character: if your character is spiked, but is not either a full Inquisitor or a Kandra (or a Koloss, but why would anyone want to play one of those? ) you will have a lot harder of a time getting approved, because we require a lot more backstory and justification before allowing it. Your best bet is to talk to one (or both) of us beforehand to put together a character we're all happy with. Syndall, the Terriswoman, is a really interesting character to me. And you future members out there, we definitely need more Terris characters in the RP. Anyways, I'm wondering if you have a plan for her to learn about her Feruchemy and be trained in its use, perhaps eventually becoming a Keeper. I would assume you at least want her to learn how to use her abilities, since you made her a Feruchemist in the first place, but yeah. Perhaps we can work out some cool RPs there.

    WoK

I agree. I'd totally be up for getting one started once more of the books come out, but as this is a brand-new series, there would just be too much guesswork involved. It's great to see some interest, though! This is definitely something we should have in the future.

Oh, so that's how it works! Very very interesting indeed. I wasn't aware the bubble slowed you down as well, which is an interesting mechanic.

    Eating Gold

Or maybe the part of yourself that's still rich because you didn't waste a thousand dollars on a gold sundae, hm?
  5. Exactly. You can simply list "PM" as your contact information if you wish, while some players list email, IM, etc in addition to that. We do ask that you name your account after your character, however, if you'd like to register as, for example, Silius, so you can introduce yourself and start posting in the OoC sections of the board, that's fine. When you create a character, one of the admins will be happy to change your username to match your character's name. All you have to do is ask. And to answer your other question, yes: you can have as many characters as you want. Each one will have a separate account with his or her name as the username. Because of this, we also ask that you list your characters in your signatures for a quick reference as to whose characters are whose. Chaos and I both use images, but some players use plain text.
  6. For what it's worth, he did start the chasm line in Elantris, but for some reason - mistake, inaccurate map, whatever - in this case, the chasm line continues outside the base symbol of Aon. Interesting. I never noticed the discrepancy before.
  7. Because I can't be the only Brandon fan out there who plays WoW. So that begs the question: who here does, and what do you play? I'm on Aggramar, and I play a Night Elf Druid (Balance spec). I also have more alts than I can count of various races and classes, but the Druid is my main. Also, what are your opinions of what we've been shown of Cataclysm so far? Pretty crazy stuff if you ask me. Though I'm going to miss running around old Azeroth...
  8. They shouldn't exist, but Preservation tampered with the Allomantic Table there for a while. And then there's the fact that you're basically mixing Preservation and Ruin in tangible form. I can't imagine them canceling each other out - especially since we got a RAFO on it, and why RAFO something that anticlimactic? - but I would imagine that a duality like that would have some very interesting results.
  9. Welcome! I haven't seen you around TWG, but then, that's also because I'm really not active at all there anymore. Anyways, I hope to see you around 17th shard!
  10. Welcome! It's nice to meet you! I'm glad to see a fellow writer around here, as well. See you around the boards!
  11. Welcome! I was introduced to Brandon's works in the same way you were, actually. I read that he was going to be finishing Wheel of Time, so I went on his website to read his sample chapters. From there I purchased Elantris and Mistborn, and went on to read the rest of his works currently out. And the rest, as they say, is history. Anyways, welcome! It's good to have you here!
  12. Are you interested in joining the Mistborn RPG, but aren't sure where to start? Perhaps you're new to the world of forum RPing and don't know how to write a character (or perhaps you're scared you'll mess up), or maybe you're a more advanced RPer but you just aren't sure how your potential characters would fit in with current events. No matter your experience (or lack thereof), this thread is for you. First you'll need to check out the rules of the Mistborn RPG (you can find a link to the site in my signature), and it would be a good idea to at least skim through the character template in order to familiarize yourself with what sort of information you'll be asked to provide. When you're ready to start, go ahead and post here! You could have any number of ideas for your character ("I want to create a nobleman with no Allomantic powers," "I want to join the rebellion," etc) or you could simply post that you want to create a character. Either way, I - and anyone else who wants to join in on the brainstorming - will try and help you come up with a character you'll enjoy writing, and the rest of us will enjoy RPing with. Let the brainstorming begin!
  13. There was one tablet left after Vin gave one to Elend, actually. How much you wanna bet that's gonna figure in to a possible third trilogy? I wish I could find the source, but I do remember reading that alloying Lerasium with a basic Allomantic metal can yield a misting: for example, Lerasium and pewter can yield a Pewterarm. So one might think at first glance that such an alloy would yield a Seer. However, Atium is most decidedly not your average, run-of-the-mill metal, to say the least, and beyond that, the fact that Brandon RAFOed it means the answer isn't that simple. No theories from my side yet, but this is one to think about.

Pewter or maybe Steel would be my choices. Pewter could come in dead useful in self-defense, as well as surviving the heat where I am. As for steel, well, who wouldn't want to be able to jump around and "fly" like that? I'm leaning heavily towards pewter, though. It's just a better fit for me, I think. Though I personally think being a Pulser or a Slider would also be all kinds of fun.
  15. How is it that I'm one of the first registered members and have yet to properly introduce myself? Anyways, hello, everyone! I'm KChan, but those of you on the Mistborn RPG site might know me better as Camille, co-admin with our good friend Chaos/Eric. You can also call me Kerry. Since, you know, that's my actual name. I'm also the new forum Global Mod and the Wiki Administrator. So if you have any questions or concerns about the Coppermind Wiki, let me know! IRL, I taught preschool for five years (mostly working with two-year-olds) before going back to school to finish a bachelor's degree in Linguistics. I am also a certified Chief Instructor in the martial art of Choi Kwang Do, and pretty much live online when I'm not in class. Anyways, it's nice to meet you all. If you have any questions about the RPG, my contact info is in my profile, or you can just PM me (Fun Fact: AIM will be the best way to get in contact with me. Always). So... yeah. Hi again!
  16. Well, LadyArianna, seeing as how you type in complete sentences with actual capitalization and punctuation, you're definitely on the right track. And no, I'm not being facetious. You'd be surprised at the things I've seen in the wide world of forum RPing. Like Zayde said, a large part of it is your characterization and whether or not you can write on demand. Of course, this is an acquired skill; I've actually used forum RP as a training exercise to practice writing when I wouldn't normally feel like it. If you're not sure where to go or what to do, I'd recommend heading over to the boards and looking around. You can scan character biographies, read threads, etc. If you decide you'd like to try and participate and aren't sure where to go, feel free to hit me up via PM or IM for a character brainstorming session. I know writing a character for the first time can be daunting, but don't worry. Once you get started, it's actually quite fun (and, in my case, addicting XD).
  17. The subject line of this message is a strange line of text that keeps appearing at the bottom of every page I load. Obviously this is some sort of error message, so I thought I'd let y'all know about it.
