  1. For the books pages, this can be solved mainly by putting a smaller blurb at the top of the page, and putting the synopsis under a heading named, well, Synopsis. Anyone who doesn't want the book spoiled would automatically know not to read something they've just been told summarizes the events of the book.
  2. There need to be awesome events like this on the East Coast, dangit....
  3. I do! Excuse me for not joining the war while fighting the symptoms of walking pneumonia. Anyways, Shiro must be stopped! This cat form of which you speak wouldn't happen to be related to The Cat, would it?
  4. Aye-aye, cap'n! We be feastin' well tonight! Now where did that fool Smite put those marshmallows....
  5. I know I mentioned it around here before somewhere, but I'm posting it here just for easy reference. While talk pages are great, and a valuable resource, I have a full plate with schoolwork, and I might miss edits made to talk pages while checking out what's been done on the wiki. If you want to start a discussion and know I'll see it relatively soon after it goes up, this is the place to do it. Not that you can't use the talk pages if you want. By all means, go ahead and post stuff there if you want. But for discussions and questions - especially those of the variety you want me to see - this very forum is the preferred medium. Thanks for your cooperation, and as always, great job on contributing to the wiki!
  6. I said it before, but Will, Ryan, you guys rock. The changes look awesome! This site is just getting better and better. ;D
  7. Remind me to throw some glitter bishounen sparkles at you should we ever meet in person.
  8. That is a terrifying mental image. XD
  9. Being humanoid does not make one human. Do we argue that elves, dwarves, eladrin, etc. are human? Of course not. Parshmen and Parshendi seem to me to be a nonhuman race, and should be categorized accordingly. And Eerongal, you misunderstand me. My issue was with how the category is named, not the fact that it exists. Allow me to demonstrate: Category: Humans describes a list of individual humans. Vin, Kelsier, Kaladin, Sarene, etc. Category: Human Cultures is the category you were actually referring to: the actual human cultures in Brandon's works. The proper name for the category is Human Cultures. Not Humans.
  10. That's okay. I'm female, and my students pretty regularly slip and call me "sir" instead of "ma'am." We're just one big, happy, gender-confused-mode-of-address family here. Or something. Right?
  11. Welcome, Annadala! It's good to have you around! I, like you, discovered Brandon through the Wheel of Time, and I know there are a number of other members around who did so as well. But no matter how you found his works - and our lovely little community here - I'm glad you joined up. See you on the forums!
  12. These guys didn't steal Nehex's meds. It was obviously the... uh... medicationspren. Yeah. That's gotta be it. >_>
  13. O_O RUN FOR THE HILLS! This line of texts exists purely for the sake of making this a not-entirely-all-caps post.
  14. Hey, we already have a navbar. Just not the one you're designing. Not yet, anyways. Anyways, kudos to both Ryan and Will for all your hard work on the site and the forums. Everything looks great!
  15. Hey all. This is just to let you know that I've been hit really hard with schoolwork and being sick, which is why I haven't been on in a while. I'm not ignoring you, I promise; it's just been hard to keep up with things while taking care of all of that. I'll do my best to post when I'm able, but I might be a little sporadic until I'm operating at 100% again. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I'll be up and running again ASAP!
  16. Great question, and great job to everyone who contributed to getting a fast answer. Thanks a lot! ^^
  17. Maybe Shiro is Sephiroth's long-lost brother? Le GASP!
  18. I agree that calling the category "humans" is a little odd. My first interpretation of that, actually, would be that the category is for all humans in Brandon's works, which you obviously didn't intend for it to be. "Races and Creatures" was originally intended to be for the nonhuman beings in Brandon's worlds. However, from a sociological standpoint, I can also easily see a race as being "Parshendi", etc. So how about this: All human cultures are to be categorized under "Human Cultures". This page is in turn to be classified as a subcategory of the "Races and Creatures" page (in other words, Races and Creatures would be for Koloss, Inquisitors, Kandra, etc, with the addition of the Human Cultures subcategory). I think it satisfies both arguments, without the need for random over-organization. Also: if a creature was human, but no longer is (I.E., Koloss), it should not be classified as a human. It belongs in the section for nonhuman creatures.
  19. The above video is all that needs to be said.
  20. Hmmm. It might look better with the gap gone, but I don't mind having it there. Until I can compare the differences between the two, I really don't think I could cast my vote either way.
  21. Yarrrr! The poison-tatoes strike again! Victory is nigh! *Swash, swash! Buckle, buckle!*
  22. We know what gradients are, hun. They're already in use on the forums.
  23. The first two issues are a direct result of us being stuck with SMF default buttons for the moment. Will is currently working on custom graphics which will add more color, pop, and an overall nicer feel to the site. See my above post. So don't worry; we won't be stuck with the current buttons forever. As for the third, that stems directly from the forum software we use and I'm not sure if it can be changed or not. That's a question for Ryan, not Will.

    Mistings

Unless Cadmium and Bendalloy only effect physical movement, which wasn't specified, then every physical function of every person inside the bubble would be affected. That includes burn duration of metals. Mind you, some metals burn faster than others. If this is indeed what happens, it could be balanced by saying that Cadmium is a slow burn, while Bendalloy burns quickly. I think we need another Word of God on this.

    Mistings

I'd imagine yes, as well as those of anyone else in the bubble. Mind you, for a user inside the bubble, the perceived duration of the burn - depending on how someone inside the bubble perceives the passage of time while inside - would likely remain the same.
