  1. That's what I like about music by such composers as E.S. Posthumus and Karl Jenkins. The language used in those songs is made up, or - in the case of many of Karl Jenkins's works - not even language at all. That allows the voices to fade into the background, but I can still enjoy the music. The E.S. Posthumus album Cartographer is actually fantastic to play while studying or doing homework.
  2. Which is exactly where I moved it. Anyways, welcome to 17th Shard! I hope to see you around!
  3. What a polite topic title. Hi! I'm Kchan/Kerry, and I'm one of the staff here at 17th Shard. I'm also the dedicated greeter, apparently. Anyways, it's great to meet you, and I hope you stick around and enjoy our fun little community!
  4. Moved this thread to the introductions forum. Anyways, welcome! I'm Kchan, one of the staffers here on 17th Shard. It's nice to meet you! I currently live in sunny Florida, and spend way too much time online. It's good to have you here!
  5. That's what I was thinking had happened. I don't really see the point of creating new metals above and beyond the 16; it throws off the balance of the system.
  6. Welcome, Truthless! It's nice to meet you. I'm one of the 17th Shard staffers; you'll commonly see me doing mindless drudgery on the Wiki and creating way more RP characters than any one person has a right to play. Come on in, make some friends, and enjoy your time here!
  7. He doesn't seem like the type to RAFO something just to torment us. If he doesn't tell us something, it tends to be for a reason.
  8. Good evidence indeed. It's pretty heavily implied that Rayse/Odium either caused the Reod, or that it was a side effect of his killing Aona and Skai.
  9. FAU does that too. It's so everyone can sign on using their own username and password, rather than having to use one master password. Shiro's just the one who makes those annoying reverification windows keep popping up when you're in the middle of something. He got ahold of my internet the other day. I was disconnecting constantly. What a pain. e_e
  10. That's provided you survive the fall to begin with, though, and have large enough goldminds to heal yourself. Gold is expensive, after all. Copper is still my first choice, but Bronze would be incredibly useful as well. I'd love to be able to actually get out of bed at a reasonable pace to get ready for class.

I would imagine that it stays centered around the burner, just like the effects of copper and bronze. There's no reason to imagine that cadmium and bendalloy work any differently.
  12. Would you happen to remember where you read that? I'd like to see for myself. Then why would Brandon RAFO it?
  13. I agree. If going to Teod caused a noticeable drop in power level, going to an entirely different planet would render an Elantrian effectively powerless. Though I still think they probably disguised themselves before departing, since as far as we've seen, power loss doesn't necessarily mean a change in appearance.
  14. There's also the question of why you'd go to other planets if you're already a god of your own. Brandon has already said that Sazed has no plans to go to Roshar, and somehow I have difficulty imagining him planet-hopping anways. He has his own people to take care of.
  15. Oh, well that's good at least. A little responsive gameplay will help break the formulaic feeling I've been getting from reviews of the Eclipse system.
  16. And I don't want them to make every rotation viable. Like I said, part of the fun is figuring out what works. And making every spec viable is possible without a system that literally tells you when to cast which spell.
  17. I'm pretty sure you can only see the symbolheads if you're a Soulcaster, though I'm currently unsure whether or not you have to have inherent Soulcasting to be able to see them. Other spren might be able to, though. We haven't really seen them interact with their more typical cousins, so it's hard to say.
  18. Perhaps, but that's based on the opinion of the player base. It's different from Blizzard telling you, "you absolutely have to do it this way to play your class correctly," which is what the Eclipse system seems (in my opinion) to be trying to do. Perhaps I'll adjust to it when Cat comes out, but half the fun of the game for me is figuring out a rotation that suits me and my play own play style the best, not going onto wowwiki to see what everyone else does. And judging by my DPS output, it's worked pretty well so far.
  19. Or Shadespren, since they're related to Shadesmar.
  20. True. We don't have much information on the Almighty's Shard, but Cultivation also seems like a good candidate. Perhaps the Almighty created the planet itself, Cultivation gave it live, and Vorinism, not knowing any better, attributed the whole process to the Almighty himself. As for the spren, many of them seem to just be part of the ambient magic on Roshar, as has been mentioned before. However, two types of spren we've seen thus far - honorspren and the as-of-yet unnamed "symbolheads" (if they really are spren) - are different from the others; they are sentient, capable of communication, and are directly involved with two types of magic on Roshar: Surgebinding and Soulcasting, respectively. If any spren is a good candidate for being related to a shard, it's those two, not the more common varieties like rainspren or gloryspren.
  21. I've changed the auto-category from "Books" to "Characters". Individual character pages do not belong in the "Books" category.
  22. Normal users can't delete pages; that's an admin-only permission. Can you imagine the chaos if anyone who wanted to use the wiki could delete a page? Eric and I knew full well when he was making the list that it's going to have some overlap, but that's easily solved with redirects and a little housekeeping. For now, we judged it was more important just to have it than to worry about perfecting it.
  23. Thanks, Eric! You rock! For everyone's convenience, I've turned this list into a page on the wiki, which can be found here. Just click on a link to make the page!
  24. Never mind the fact that some players like customizing their gameplay. To mandate rotations is to force every player of every spec to use the exact same rotation, totally negating things like individual play style, player skill, and so on. Thanks, Blizzard. You just made the game a lot more boring for me.
  25. Sazed doesn't hold a new Shard. He holds Ruin and Preservation, two known Shards from the original sixteen. You can't include both versions in the count; it throws off the entire balance of there having been sixteen in the first place. Remember, these numbers have a purpose other than Brandon just saying, "Oh hey, let's split Adonalsium into X number of Shards. That seems like a cool number!" It makes much more sense for 17th Shard to be an organization of non-Shardholders. For one thing, the letter's author refers to them in the plural. Despite holding two Shards, Sazed is most definitely one person.
