  1. They started splitting them funny here, too; my first experience with Wheel of Time was with the YA version, From the Two Rivers. I never saw any others after that, though. Also, slightly unrelated: those covers are freaking awesome. o_o
  2. In the board view, click on the time of the last post in any given thread and it will take you to the first unread post, but sometimes it takes a minute to jump down, and if you start scrolling too soon it tends to cancel the effect. Any more than that really isn't worth doing compared to the other things we're working on; besides, scrolling sort of comes with forums in general. It's something we all have to deal with, no matter what site we're on.
  3. Thanks! I'm glad y'all are enjoying them. Unfortunately, since I'm not that great with javascript at all, I don't even know if there's a way to make it filter out certain combinations. So if you get relative pairings, just click past them.
  4. Hey there, RPers! I know it's been a very short time since our last update, but I'm back again with some exciting new features that are sure to make Mistborn: the Inquisition even better! First, you'll notice that in the mini-profile area (the place in each post with the member's avatar, post count, etc.) is missing some fields, and has gained some new ones. You can fill these new profile fields out in your User CP, under Profile Information. They are: Position: Not everyone will need this field. It's mostly for House Lords, Heirs, Crewleaders, etc. If your character has an important position that other characters should recognize, that's what this is for. If you're not sure, just leave it blank. Age: This one is pretty self-explanatory. Relationship Status: If your character is married, engaged, courting, in a relationship, etc., make sure to also enter with whom. Allomantic Status: There are six options for a character's Allomantic status: N/A – This is for if your character is not an Allomancer, or there are other extenuating circumstances involved (such as Rebellion members, who are known to each other but hidden as far as everyone else is concerned). Known – If your character is publicly known as an Allomancer, he or she is known. Open – If your character is not widely known as an Allomancer, but is not particularly concerned with hiding their Allomancy (if at all), he or she is open. Can also be used for characters who are known in another city or Dominance but have not become well-known in Luthadel yet. Rumored – If it is suspected your character is an Allomancer, but not known for sure, he or she is rumored. Hidden – This Allomancer's status is hidden from the general public. Select individuals (such as immediate family or a trusted friend) are an exception. For example, Lucille Deveaux knows Aaron Elariel is an Allomancer, but the general public of Luthadel doesn't, so he is still considered hidden. Unsnapped – This character has not Snapped yet. [*]Origin: Where is your character from? [*]Character Profile: Paste the URL to your character's application here, and it will create a link in your mini-profile. The one downside is that you can't edit these fields for each of your characters from your out-of-character account; you'll have to log into each character's individual account to edit them. But trust me, you – and your fellow roleplayers – will be glad you did! Second on our update list is a new feature: Random Generators! In order to help spark some more inspiration, and also have a little fun, I've made us some nifty toys: the Random Pairing Generator and the Character Generator! You can use these to get new character or RP ideas, write musical threads, or whatever you want. Enjoy!
  5. Also, note that we've always made references to spiking people. It's not like we make a secret of it or anything.
  6. Just so you know, I've never encountered any scholarship or college application that asked for my PSAT score. Ever. The only way it benefited me was because, well, it's practice. I did significantly better on the real thing because I knew what to expect. I've also heard it said that if you're not a math/science-type person, the SAT is better to take, since it's just math and verbal. So take that for what it's worth. I wouldn't know; I never took the ACT. Also, I would like to announce that my plane ticket and book preorders for the Alloy of Law midnight release have been purchased!
  7. I am pleased to announce that tonight, 17th Shard will have the distinct pleasure of interviewing the fantastic folks from Craftygames! These guys have been seriously amazing to work with, and I'm really looking forward to getting to talk with them about the upcoming Mistborn Adventure Game. That said, we want you guys to have a voice too! If you have any questions you'd like to have answered, post them here. I can't promise we'll get to everyone's, but we'll try to ask what we can. So post away, and keep an eye out for our newest interview - coming soon to a front page near you!
  8. Yeah, the demographics in-world are stacked heavily in favor of the men, but once we had two female Inquisitors, we had to have a third to create Shokhan's Angels. The PC obligators, though, are entirely male, except for Felicity (who is technically retired anyways and thus arguably not might count).
  9. Yeeeeah, she's not going to. Just saying. And it was supposed to be Sanna and Lucius, actually. I don't ever know if it would happen in the RP, but there was an in-joke going around about Luci putting on a man's suit and calling herself Lucius Deveaux, so in Matt's post, "he" is going on a date with Sanna. I'm curious about which RAFO you're referring to, though. That's definitely not something nasty, so... XD
  10. She's great practice writing, though. She's the complete opposite of the characters I like to write the best, so playing her is a neat little challenge for myself. The same goes with Phyra 2.0, though she's far more exhausting to write.
  11. This is true. I tend to gravitate more towards friendly characters naturally; it's just how I write. As for Colette, though, I can tell you that she is, in fact, downright evil. We've seen her do something horrible onscreen, but I haven't said explicitly what it is yet. Those of you who've figured it out, hush. Also, a few of my other characters have done some pretty nasty things. One is a RAFO, and a couple others can be found in character applications. EDIT: Also, I love your quotes from the books XD I've noticed a couple Vin-like tendencies in Nessa (early early Vin, that is), but I think that's just a product of having vaguely similar backgrounds. Overall though, Nessa's a lot more random. And I'm glad you liked that thread; I had a blast writing it.
  12. No, she's not. She's just angry/pouty at being stuffed into a dress. As for your first comment: This. Also, I have a way of putting my characters into horrifying traumatic experiences, even if they themselves aren't evil.
  13. I dunno, I have a couple things planned that are downright evil. And as for character art, you can see a few doodles in my gallery, and I'm working on a character study for Camille on and off when I get time to draw.
  14. Have you? We still don't have word counts on his newest submissions...
  15. Why yes. Yes it was. I'm impressed you noticed! And wow, you're really dedicated to sit there and read through all of that. The only reason I can do it is that I've been there from the beginning, so I can follow threads as they happen. XD As for Luci/Kardin? RAFO.
  16. Troubled as she was by the wrongness in the Leyht, Bix's reaction was enough to get a soft laugh out of Kiki. "You know me, Bix," she told him with a grin. "One man's trouble is this woman's adventure." She paused here, and turned to Nasir. "Akhi, this is Bix. Harran and I met him not long before you joined us."
  17. "I suppose it's theoretically possible," Harran told the Earthshell, "but I can't say for certain until--" Just then, the door opened, to reveal a very familiar-looking Seelva. Was that...? Kiki had just barely finished telling Nasir about the problem she sensed within the Leyht when the door thudded open and a familiar voice addressed the group at large. She hadn't heard it in over a year, true, but that accent was hard to forget - as was its owner. She couldn't help but wonder if he would recognize her, looking like this. "Bix?" she asked. "Is that you?"
  18. "There was a black thing," she told him in Masran, grateful for the support and comfort offered by his hand on her shoulder. "A darkness. In the light. Leyht. A darkness in the Leyht," she corrected herself. "It feels bad. Very bad. It is very very small, but very bad. I could not find it until I looked. I'm scared, akhi." "In the case of the burned-out nodes," Harran offered while Kierra and Nasir conferred in Masran - he would have to ask them about that, later - "Perhaps I can shed a little light on the subject. Those nodes died in one of the great wars that eventually caused Xan to leave us. Powerful automata - golems powered by the Leyht - were used as soldiers, but at a cost that, tragically, could and should have been avoided. While natural life is given an instinctive buffer to prevent us from drawing on the Leyht too strongly, these automata were not outfitted with such restrictions. They drew more strongly than those nodes could handle, eventually cauterizing them with the very power that once flowed through them, resulting in the so-called 'dead' nodes we have today. That is why golem-crafting is so serious a crime in Alteiryn; two cauterized nodes are more than enough. I can imagine automata causing an unbalance, I suppose, if someone were crafting them illegally," he added thoughtfully, "but it is difficult to conceive of them poisoning the Leyht in the way you have described to us."
  19. Kiki's eyes snapped open. She had recoiled from the Leyht out of sheer instinct, fleeing the blackness she sensed there. But just like the dark spot that remains after glimpsing the sun, that darkness continued to haunt her. What under the Leyht was that? This was beyond troubling. But then, she couldn't do anything about it here. Not here, not out in the open; any further study would have to wait until later. But, if nothing else, she wanted desperately not to be alone right now. "Akhi," she said softly in her still accented Masran, doing her best to maintain a calm outer expression. "Something is wrong."
  20. "That's the same story all Xanethi know," Kierra said with a sigh. How disappointing. "I was hoping you had more to tell me from the side of your people." She leaned back against the wall, and Harran picked up on the story. "That prophecy is what we're here to investigate," he explained, but as he related the story of the dead Ohnyrek, his voice faded from Kiki's awareness. She was already deep in thought, eyes closed. She wanted to try something. She didn't dare delve deeply here, with all these strangers around, but just skimming the surface shouldn't hurt. She had noticed an increasing familiarity with the Leyht within herself lately. It was strange, and unexpected, and nothing she had ever read could explain it. But it was useful. And comforting. It was to that familiarity that she turned now, reaching out as if to an old friend. If there was something wrong with the Leyht, she wanted to find out if she could sense it.
  21. "Xan. The Xan. The father of Xanethi channeling. You're saying something like this was originally the reason your people contacted ours?" Kiki asked. Everyone in Alteiryn knew the story of Xan and the Earthshell's warning, or at least so far as Kiki knew. And though the Vhaskari didn't deify Xan like some in Alteiryn did, they did venerate him as the man who brought channeling to humankind on Alteiryn. If this had some connection with Xan... "So this happened once before. What can you tell us about that? Was it resolved once, only to come back now? Do you know how, or why?"
  22. Well, a skaa Mistborn has just attacked the ball itself. Most of the Rebellion's stuff is going down in Part 3, which is happening right now. But since so few PCs are actually needed for Part 3, we decided to go ahead and open up Cycle 2 as well.
  23. Yeah, it's totally terrifying. o___O;;; Not sure what's going on with that. I bet Hair and Makeup has fun getting it to stay that way. XD
  24. It made me laugh too. XD As did Kiki going into geek-speak, because it's rare that I actually get to do that. X3 Fun fact: I have it on good authority (IE: from IMs with Kuri) that the Earthshells steer clear of the Highlands, which is what gives Vhaskari researchers (and miners, and so on and so forth) access to the underground. They don't like the blue crystal array that one of the Enlightened built around the node there.
  25. "I see. I'm sorry if I offended you," Kiki told the not-Leyari woman. She paused, then, unsure what to say next. It was then that the Earthshell attempted to brush the stucco under the rug - literally - and then answered Nasir's question with a question of his own. One that Kiki was capable of answering, luckily enough. "That's a tricky question," she said thoughtfully. "The Highlands are the only place - that I know of, at least - with sufficient access to subterranean environments for such research. So far, our findings indicate that in the Highlands at least, subterranean ley lines can run surprisingly deep. Unfortunately, though, we haven't yet been able to determine just how 'deep' that actually is. Measuring ley lines is tricky business, even with the Magisterium's resources aiding us. Why do you ask?"
