  1. Welcome to the crazy! XD
  2. This. A thousand times this. XD
  3. Thanks for the answers! I totally see where you're coming from with the present tense thing, Silus, and I'm not arguing against it. I just find it harder to read than past (hence the synopsis), and harder to write in. It's more personal preference than anything else, so it's good to know I have the option to write in the style I'm strongest with. Anyways, I still have some mulling over to do. I'll let y'all know if I have any more questions.
  4. Bam. I couldn't resist. xD
  5. Okay, so I'm debating whether I want to join or not, but I have a few questions about the RP itself and the magic system before I make up my mind: How much do physiological changes undergone in a specific form affect the base form? If a person spends a lot of time fighting in their forms, would that be reflected in some increased muscle definition in the base form? (I'm not talking increased base stats here beyond what activity would do to a person, but muscles do tend to react at least somewhat to being used.) What about scars, etc? Do special spheres require a special spot in a grid? Or a spot at all, for that matter? How are new members brought into the RP? And is there/will there be any sort of synopsis? 20 pages of present-tense text is really hard to read through. For that matter, is present tense required? My strength as a writer is in third-person past, not first-person present.
  6. I would like to announce that I've finally hit the 1K mark! *boogie*
  7. Yeah, Brandon gets a lot of email, I think. With all the writing he has to do, I'd imagine it's quite hard to get through it all right away.
  8. That wasn't cryptic at all.
  9. Ooo, now that's a neat idea! That might look really cool!
  10. Oo, now there's an idea. It's kind of hard to tell because the pic is sort of blurry, but that's definitely a possibility.
  11. Yeah, I definitely agree. That's generally the problem with having fillers. It's hard to have interesting, engaging characters (especially interacting with the main cast), when ultimately they're not allowed to have any bearing on the main canon by virtue of what they are. Maybe anime series should learn to do interludes instead! I have to admit, though, the Naruto anime had a couple of decent filler arcs. The Hinata one was good, even if it was about bees.
  12. It's a webcomic, but it also has video game elements in it. There are several soundtracks, the prompts to go to the next page are reminiscent of old text-based RPGs, and you can actually play certain pages. Just like a video game. It's definitely worth looking into. Done and done. Now to cast the other ten...
  13. The Bount Arc is all filler anyways, so it arguably doesn't really have that much of an effect on the canon, if anything at all. That's actually when I stopped watching the Bleach anime and switched to the manga. Though, I haven't read the manga in forever either. >_>
  14. That Dr. Who scarf looks great! Omg, I want one! =O Learning to knit - or crochet more than various chain stitches - will have to wait, though. I finally purchased myself the sewing machine of my dreams - the Singer CG550 - and am waiting in breathless anticipation for it to arrive so I can start sewing. X3
  15. Yeah, those definitely don't look like inserts to me. It looks like the markings were drawn on. At least the lines and symbols are nice and clean, though.
  16. Bondo might work well, as it can be sanded and gives a nice, hard, smooth surface that can be painted. I thought of Sculpey but it would probably not work so well, because it shrinks when baked. I would suggest putting in the wood pieces and very, very gently sanding them down by hand. It would take a lot of patience, but at least you'd get them flush, and you could still use wood. You could also just leave the cuts open, stain the insides a darker color, and then put a glass top of your your table. That could look really cool.
  17. Very nice! I too like the silver trim. You should submit some of those shots to the gallery. That's what it's there for, after all!
  18. Upvotes for both of you! And also, yay Mistcloak!
  19. Make sure you comment in the news article if you want to enter; posts in this thread don't count as contest entries. Thanks!
  20. Yeah, true. Also, this episode of StEC is brought to you by Trivia Master Harran, apparently. Because you never know when you'll need to know what stucco is made of.
  21. Her proof given, Kiki stopped channeling and returned her crest to its place in her pouch; it was useful for proving her identity beyond a doubt, but she didn't like waving it around. "Well, there's no harm done," Kiki said casually, returning to her own seat as well. "...Well. Except for the walls, I guess, but you didn't do that. I'd appreciate it if you just asked me from now on if you're curious about something, though; we Vhaskari are pretty straightforward, and it's much easier than the long way we just took. Though, to a Leyari, I probably seem more like a stampede than one who is merely straightforward." She couldn't help but smirk a little at that; she had the feeling the Leyari weren't the only people who would liken her to a stampede. "Anyways. You have my name, but I still don't know yours. With whom do I have the comparative pleasure of waiting?" "It's stucco," Harran told the Earthshell, picking up some of the remains of the substance and studying it more closely. "It contains sand, lime, and water, I believe, among other things. They apply it wet, then allow it to dry. It's rather popular in Tolveran architecture." (EDIT: I know I said plaster in an earlier post, but I meant stucco. That was my mistake. Sorry!)
  22. So, she wanted truth. She had, Kiki guessed, recognized them from the inn, and probably considered her a fake as well. Ah well; the game would be up when Esteban came in and saw her there anyways, so she might as well come clean now. She reached into the pouch on her belt and pulled out a golden medallion that rested comfortably in her palm. The Vhaskar family crest, set into the gold in the Highlands' trademark blue crystal, glowed with an inner light as she channeled through it, proving its authenticity. No crafter would be able to produce a working counterfeit, and no impostor could make the real thing work. She moved a little closer and held out the medallion so that the woman could see it clearly. "I am Magistra Kierra Vhaskar, first daughter of Highlord Tierran of the Vhaskari Highlands. Is that truth enough for you?"
  23. Flash. Kiki acted in a heartbeat, seizing the illusions she had already woven and reinforcing them with a surge of Leyht. The flash wasn't channeled in a particularly refined manner, so the illusions might have been alright anyway, but she wasn't about to take any chances. At the same time, she sensed the Earthshell channel, and a cloud of sand wore itself from the palace walls and began flying about the room. Before she could act, Harran channeled from his spot next to her, shielding their group from the sand summoned by the miniature storm. Blessed Harran! It would have been miserable trying to get sand out of eyes and lungs. "Easy, easy," Kierra said, feeling immensely relieved that they were - for the most part, at least - alone in the room; for Nasir's sake especially, she couldn't afford for their illusions to be found out. "If I'm guessing correctly, you're irritated by Esteban's keeping you waiting, right? Try not to get too offended; if you let yourself get worked up now, you'll find him impossible to actually deal with. Besides, it's nothing personal. He's probably just asleep." She was speaking, of course, of Esteban Javier Amancio Natanael, Crown Prince of Tolvera. As supposedly scholarly and adventurous the man was, he was also extremely fond of his parties and drink and dancing. She wouldn't be surprised, if she went up to his bedchamber right now, to find him still asleep despite the hour. Not that she would dream of doing that, of course. Esteban was also extremely fond of women, and she had no desire to send him any messages. "I'm also pretty sure he won't appreciate coming in here to find his reception room destroyed," she pointed out. The entire room was covered in sand, except for the small spots that had been covered by Harran's shield, and bits of plaster littered the floor, having been pulled off the walls when Krh'hrl channeled the stone underneath into a sandstorm. "This place is a mess. "As for your little display just now," she continued, "I'd appreciate it if you both didn't try that again." She turned her gaze to focus on the merchant woman. "I'm curious now, though: what interest could you possibly have in me or my companions?" Bloody perfect, Kiki grumbled to herself. Nasir had just asked that great question, and now she had no idea if they would ever hear the answer.
  24. I agree completely! It bothers me when movies try to be accurate but fail miserably. This movie seems like they're purposely going for a more stylized, fantastical version that was inspired by that era. Judging by what we see in the trailer, I'd be willing to bet they pulled it off. The costumes we get to see in the video are gorgeous. It took me by surprise too. My husband showed the trailer to me out of the blue, and I was instantly excited for it.
  25. Whups, it's a bit late, but here you go: Welcome! And Darniil, I never said I was the only one who was allowed to post the cookie. I put my name on it for a reason.
