Finally, at long last, girls camp is over. (Thanks for the 48 notifs, guys
)
I don't want to be a downer, so I'll spare you why I hated camp so much. Let's just say that I will not be going again, even under threat of death (or at least getting my books and phone taken away).
A bit of happy news- my cornflowers are blooming! This year I've bred some really cool hybrids that are light blue and white with pinkish middles and special extra-petal mutations. I also have red and black ones! (hoping the bunnies don't eat those
) I'll post some pics later.

I'm sorry that it ended up being a bad experience. If you ever want to rant about it, I'm always available to talk to.
Flowers are nice!

I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE PICTURES!!!!
Aw, I’m really sorry that girl’s camp was rough. If you ever want to talk about it I’ll be here

I'm sorry you didn't have fun at girls camp. I will just say that next year will be just with our wards and for the rest of your girls camp days you will be a YCL so if you do decide to come again you get to have input into what happens and can help make changes.
But flowers!!!!! I want to see!!!! I'm excited for your pictures!!!

I’m rewatching those old DC kiddie cartoons. This is what happens when I have important things to do but I’m waiting for my banana bread to bake.

Have you ever had a dream that was so incredibly awesome you just wanted to write it down and turn it into a story? But then you don't because you know it wouldn't work out? And then you spend the rest of the day in a daze because you can't stop thinking about it?

Well, school's out.
My band posted the music they'll be playing next year. Without me. It looks pretty awesome. One of the songs is an arrangement of The Sound of Silence, one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm really disappointed that I don't ever get to play with them again.

Awh, Ranryu, We're gonna miss you at school (even though I'm not in band-), and even though I don't want you to leave us, I'm sure you're gonna have so much fun at this new school.
I hope you make tons of friends (just none that are cooler than us /hj)! You're gonna do great <3
As for The Sound of Silence piece... I LOVE that song!! Simon and Garfunkel are one of my favorite oldies groups to listen to, and I actually have one of their CDs with that song on it (I'll even let you borrow it, if you'd like!
). I listen to it practically every single day lol
You got this, Ranryu! <3

Guyyyyyysssss. Guess who I’m sitting next to right now. Here’s a little message from her:
“I miss you all like birds like watching explosions! If they liked watching explosions cuz I have no idea! Stay away from red toothbrushes. They will, if they get the chance, turn you into a communist ninja with leaves for hands and, as we all know, that’s not fun! Anyway hi!
”
thank you and goodnight!

How much was I discussed?
SpoilerI get very interested when I realize I might have been talked about while I wasn't there.
SpoilerThen again I think so does everybody.

Yeah, I always want to know what people say. That may have to do with the nagging fear that everyone is just pretending to like me to be nice, though

After finals next week, I will never return to this school.
It kinda feels weird. I came in knowing that I'd only have a year here, but I guess it didn't really sink in until recently. The school I'm at right now is pretty old. It has years of history, tradition, and culture.
The next place I'm going to will be brand new. I will literally be in the first ever graduating class. I'm excited, but also a little anxious. With my year only being 26 people strong, it could either be really awesome or really terrible. Either way, it's not gonna be the normal experience. It's never the normal experience.
SpoilerIf I don't like it I'm gonna drop out and do homeschool again. I'm only going part time anyway.
Oh and also that poem I shared with y'all a while back got into my school's lit mag. I'm happy with the art they paired it with.

I relate to this so much. I don’t think I stayed in a single school for more than 2 years in a row. Always change. What I’m trying to say is nervousness and anxiousness are normal, and everyone else in your next years class is probably feeling at least a little bit of the same. You got this!!

Discounting college of course but yeah I changed school environments every two years for the entire K-12

Guys.
I keep finding more underrated early 2000's tv shows. The ones with ten year old boys as the target audience.
Why are they so amazing. Especially the Canadian ones. Seriously, I have like five ten year old boy early 2000's cartoons from Canada that I absolutely love.
Is this what addiction feels like?

Okay okay okay. Let's talk about peat bogs. If you don't know what the heck I'm talking about, then hold on tight. We're gonna go on a little ride.
First of all, what is a peat bog? A peat bog is a type of wetland that accumulates peat (a buildup of partially decayed plant matter- often moss). Peat bogs are found in cool northern climates (a famous example is ireland). About 12,000 years ago, glaciers from the most recent ice age retreated, leaving poorly draining lakes behind. Over time, plant matter built up inside these lakes, becoming peat. Other names for peat bogs include mire, mosses, quagmire, and muskeg.
SpoilerWhy are peat bogs important? Peat (dried peat) is a valuable form of fuel that has been harvested for thousands of years. Peat is also used as a soil additive. Beyond that, peat bogs play a vital role in the environment. Peat moss improves the soil's ability to absorb water, and peat holds more carbon than the combined forests of Britain, France and Germany. Plus, if you like animals, peat bogs provide shelter to some really cool endangered ones.
SpoilerAnother really interesting thing about peat bogs is that they are excellent at preserving deceased life forms. Hopefully some of you have heard of the famous "bog bodies" that are often found in peat bogs. Sometimes more than ten thousand years old, these bog bodies give us interesting insight on how things used to be.
(Warning, mildly scary image below)
SpoilerThis is the Tollund man, found in 1950. It is believed that he was sacrificed in some kind of fertility ritual about twenty five thousand years ago. His body is incredibly well preserved-- even his internal organs!
Clearly, there's a lot more to learn about peat bogs. Go look them up, they're really cool!
