  1. He should want a Captain America.
  2. In the example given they started with children. Harmony took a man that he saw potential in; much too late for similar results. Honestly; Harmony just needs to find a soldier and Wax isn't a solider, he's a cop. Honestly I don't recall at what point in Wax's life Harmony took an interest, I only know it goes back as far as his time with his first wife - It could be as simple as Wax just wasn't wired up for the role despite conditioning.
  3. Koloss, the forgotten ship material. On reflection the Koloss appear to be the most direct human-non-human entity given their original creation. Post Harmony they're just swole by default chilling in the roughs.
  4. 100% agree - The very concept is flawed. Taking an budding individual and attempting to sculpt them is no way to get what Harmony wants.
  5. I think Harmony knows where he went wrong with Wax - He's become a family man and most importantly doesn't want to be the sword. The issue regarding the actions Harmony took to try and forge his sword were immoral and traumatic. He needs to embrace Ruin in order to get a sword, that is my belief. Inquisitors were perfect; effective in combat and obidient. The horror of their creation not withstanding. All this to say - The Sword will not be Wax it will be someone or something else. Find someone happy to be a tool of Ruin in a major way; The issue I see is this: Can other Shards affect control on spiked individuals? If so it would be unwise to use Hemalurgy in the creation of your army/elite soldiers.
  6. I really enjoyed Adolin in the shield wall. It was so real and grim and gritty. It really captured the siege on the page.
  7. I think the existence of Baxil in his current state lends credance to the fact that Cultivation at least expected this as a possible outcome. An unsee-able entity unless you know to look for it? The perfect spy for Cultivation.
  8. I started with Stormlight Archive but my friend insisted I go through Mistborn prior to Rhythm of War.
  9. I just realised Axwindeth probably has some method available to her of unkeying those metal minds. Bro got mugged for his gains.
  10. I never considered that it was a spiking, rather than just a murder.
  11. I think they can return without endangering the spren, but they're simply not ready. They've tacked the protection of the spren onto the Oathpact but not the part requiring them to stay on Braize. Spren should be a-ok. They got lots of time, thanks to the time dilation, to just rest and prepare for the Final Desolation.
  12. 1. I think as long as you want the Light it should work. If I was Retribution that's what I would do. I'm generous, I'm kind. I'm a good guy. 2. I think the news will travel pretty quickly across Roshar - There will be people not loyal to Odium (Now Retribution) living in his areas who can both access the light and spread the word. If people in Retributions controlled area did the prayer and didn't receive light it could be an incendiary point ("Did you hear about Dan? He didn't get light, he's not a believer!") and I think it would be better for Retribution for his kingdoms to remain cohesive.
  13. I think that bmcclure7 is on the money here; I don't recognise OPs description of Singer's at all Certified bruh moment, unfortunately. My view is that it requires minimal suspension of disbelief. If a person could convincingly cosplay a Singer I don't see the big deal. Anyone know where I can buy copious amount of red, white, and black body paint? No particular reason.
  14. So I guess we can try and find a commonality between what a metal spike does and what we know happens with gemstones. My understanding is the metal hemalurgy (MH?) removes a portion of the persons spirit web to tack on to someone else. It's not just raw investiture, it's coded in some way. Gemstones can be used to trap spren; so my guess is that there is a specific spren. This is what leads me to think you can't just fill a gem with stormlight and ram it home for the effect. I like the theory on Secret spren being used that Atlas333 wrote above. It makes me wonder how different spren would impart differing effects though. If we could draw some kind of equivalency table between known MH spikes and Gemstone Hemalurgy (GH?) for effects that would be handy but with a single example in Moash I doubt we have enough data to do anything but speculate. The types of spren used don't appear to be clear in purpose in text having just looked over the Fabrial Coppermind article.
  15. Sorted it, apologies for the misunderstanding of the spoiler boundaries.
  16. Preview chapter spoiler, for Isles of Emberdark: Whether or not that is Retribution induced or not I cannot say. The power of a Knight Radiant is pretty horrifying to most enemies though. These guys can fly, disintegrate things, create illusions, turn rock into putty. Oh they also have near impenetrable armour and shape changing weapons that can cut through anything (par Aluminium) I don't think advanced technology is necessary in the war but it's going to happen regardless. I think it will come the same way it happened for us; innovation and mimicry rather than divine providence.
  17. Very nice. I'll get my theory tattooed on my butt so we can confirm in 2031.
  18. My belief is that the portion of Honour that empowered the Highstorm has gone to Syl. The Highstorm will return when the Heralds do.
  19. I'm fully on board with Retribution suffering from a Discord-style problem in future. Where the nature of the Shards begin to cause issues for the vessel and their decision making. I personally believe that destroying Kharbranth is a full violation of the oath Taravangian and Rayse made. As JohnnyKaizen wrote Taravangian has got some serious issues in store for him. Honour is evolving and Dalinar just gave it a shove in the right desired direction. Taravangian has already noted that he's got to be exceptionally careful with making Oaths now; which I think will severely limit his willingness to enter into deals like Solo-Odium (SolOdium?) did in the past. I think that means we're not likely to see any more Fused or Knight Radiant style options appear. I remember Rayse used to dangle becoming Fused as a reward, I get the sense that he wouldn't be able to lie like that anymore.
  20. I think it will behoove Retribution to allow relatively free movement of Warlight. And to provide it with anyone who prays for it. It's a war of propaganda at this stage. I personally believe that when Syl returns the Highstorm will return. The Heralds now bring the Highstorm during a Desolation.
  21. His redemption will come when he kills Moash in the back half. I want to make a specific book commitment but I'll be happy enough to lock this prediction in now.
  22. I thought the end of this book was monumental. Dalinar truly outwitted almost everyone setting him up to a No-Win scenario. Taravangian in absolute shambles; he lost militarily, and philosophically. I truly believe Cultivation wanted this outcome; she's left behind a few key pieces that can help but she was absolutely sick of Roshar and Honour+Odium.
  23. Secret technique
  24. I just looked up Notum's coppermind page; there was an error in RoW that references his dead father.
