    I love this because I agree. Right now it's fair to think of the shards as shards but I think it's very unrealistic that Adonalsium has 16 different types of power that all balanced each other out. It's more likely that the shattering created these faceted elements of the whole but once reunited it will be much more functional.

    I kind of think that's the point. Kaladin previous had months with no solid deadlines to work to. He muses on it in this chapter. He's feeling desperate and acting like it which is leading to poor quality work. Also most of the people *wanted* help; Szeth is currently very resistant to Kaladin's attempts.

    The purpose of the Everstorm was to circumvent the Oathpact. After 4000 years Taln never broke so they (Team Odium) were looking for another way to continue the conflict.

    I can't see the "burdens of nine become mine" being Ishar, the language of it just doesn't make sense.

    That's a really good point. Ishar has been watching people for a long time it would seem. Kaladin seems like a Raziel-esque figure in this story. Unpreditable wild card.

    Where did Hoid have 9 shadows? Seems that Ishar had some influence on Szeth early on. Kaladin is hanging in there; he shall prevail! Heck! Sleepless all over the tower! What do they want? Which one is it? Is it the Ghostblood member?

    It would be odd to refer to burdens of 9 become mine if one of the burdens is already yours; if that makes sense? Poor Gav, but he might get to meet Elhokar a little bit. A little bit of family reconnection, as a treat. Stormfaker can't keep getting away with this. How many little bits of Honour are spread around for the taking?! Did Tanavast do an Ambition??

    I think that's a good theory - Taln was suffering anyway, the other could have a chance at life. I wonder if he's actually siphoning their stability to prop himself up. Is he making it worse and Taln is just the way he is because of 4000 years of torture? Ishar is a lynchpin in all this and I'm excited to be here for it live from Roshar. It's about 10,000 years since the shattering. So at least that old.

    I can definitely believe that Rabonial pioneered Herald torture.

    Were the desolations an intended consequence? I always thought it was a loophole exploited by the agents of Odium. As long as the heralds are on braize they seal the fused away; but I guess the reincarnation mechanic is unlikely to be a fluke so I guess there must have been something to it.

    I've just remembered the opening of The Stormlight Archive where Jezrien says they can put down the burden the picked up willingly; a scenario in which people did walk away but it caused some problems because it wasn't set up to allow them to do it.

    All I'm taking away from this is that there is potential to create a gem stone metal hybrid hemalurgic spike. Would it require a god metal to function as the metal?

    Is there potential that they already had the technology to produce it - They almost certainly have the Cosmeric knowledge to produce it. But you wouldn't tip your hand unless absolutely necessary - especially as a clandestine organisation.

I don't like not being able to see the Enlightened Spren because I thought they'd look super cool. I don't think I understand what happened. Were the Ghostbloods in the physical realm and jumped into the Cognitive Realm when they made their attack?

    That's an interesting theory - Shards can be picked up because the Host and Shard are separate entities. If the Investiture is stripped of it's Identity (I'm using a capital I intentionally) then can you wield it? How much Identity is left in a Shardblade - Does Mayalaran have more?
