Szeth can't really be forgiven until he takes some ultimate responsibility for his actions. He may not have felt like he had a choice but he always did. "Special rock, I had to do it - Doesn't let me stop myself" His flashbacks better soften my current attitude to him this book or he's in for a rough time.
-
Saw a comment under the chapters on Reactor and they commented on how Szeth avoids making any decisions himself - He always defers to someone else. And he calls Kaladin a coward. Ok bro.
-
Thanks for this, you've given words to my vague feelings about Szeth's behaviour. And something is started to tell me that the Highspren didn't make it out of The Recreance unharmed.
-
Yeah it seemed like he was trying to rattle Kaladin for some reason; but either didn't follow up on it or didn't mean it that way but why would he do that?
-
Yeah that was wack "Don't have emotions because you're back home you big idiot! Be demure!" Screw Highspren, all my homies hate Highspren
-
Gosh this felt too short. Navani hearing The Sibling and The Stormfather chatting is very interesting. Nightwatcher teams meeting when? It's a bold strategy, let's see if it pays off.

Possible Contract "Loophole" - Preview Chapter Spoilers
BinarySecond replied to Lenth's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Sending Moash to walk through Urithiru is bold and I quite like that. "We each send a willing champion, allowed to meet at the top of Urithiru, otherwise unharmed by either side’s forces." If Odium harms his own Champion does that mean he violated the contract? And the same is true for the reverse? -
“Unite Them!” – Cultivation’s Cosmere Plan
BinarySecond replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Perhaps Retribution? retribution /rĕt″rə-byoo͞′shən/ Noun Punishment administered in return for a wrong committed. Punishment or reward distributed in a future life based on performance in this one. The act of retributing; repayment. -
I'll take things that will never happen for 200, Alex. Adolin still needs to resolve his Maya repair storyline so I don't think he can go - Unless B$ has him speedrun it this book.

“Unite Them!” – Cultivation’s Cosmere Plan

What could Odium + Honor be? Hatred plus Oaths - Wrath? Retribution? -
The ass of Roshar is on the chopping block.
-
Honestly T-Odium seems to be on the same plan for different reasons. Shard holders are hoarding power and that's bad for the Cosmere so they should all go rather than "I want to be the only one in charge" - Same results different motive. I think Odium could splinter every other shard and then self splinter to democratise investiture.
-
Yeah I have to agree, Shallan is being very naïve here - Mraize knew the GBs were rumbled the moment she called him up to smack talk. He strikes me as the kind of man with a back up plan and he's had time to implement it. I can only assume that she's going to walk straight into a trap via over confidence or being tricked - Like a lightweaver being a mole.
-
Will Dalinar still be bound to serve Odium if he ascends but still loses? That would be interesting.
-
I suspect Gavilar saw visions of the Heralds, he was obsessed with them. I want Shallan to be successful against Mraize really badly.
-
I didn't even think to count the creation spren in the sketch. The difference between spren number and sections vs segments is also interesting.

https://reactormag.com/read-wind-and-truth-by-brandon-sanderson-chapters-16-17-and-18/ Shardplate armour feats tech tree unlocked! Surprisingly candid Cultivation moment, but Dalinar seems fully aware that "Unite them" is an ever changing request. Looking forward to Adolin and Dalinar having it out eventually. Yanagawn is actually a great leader - He's very wise for his age and position. I wonder how long it will take them to figure out it's Taravangian in charge of Odium,
-
The strata in Kholinar have always bothered me. Kaladin LOSES his stormlight, it removes the lightweaving Shallan placed. At the time he assumes he did but he's touching the strata lines. I think you're right; they were truly alive cities.

Could Nahel Bonds heal the Heralds?
BinarySecond replied to TruthMisting's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think the scariest part of Nale is that he's bloody mental but seems relatively oblivious about it. He's engaging in a war against the descendants of a people because their ancestors messed up. Sins of the father inherited absolutely. Except in his most lucid moments which are rare and related to Radiant oaths. Made by others - It could be related to the burst of investiture that occurs but when Navani became a Bondsmith it helped Ishar hundreds of miles away. (Or was it Kaladin? Either way, the distance is the same) I'd love to know why another swearing an oath provides respite for the heralds. -
Death Rattle about Ishar not Taln
BinarySecond replied to thaidenheimer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Jezrien at least knew who he was, I think; "Have you seen me?" I always took that as reference to the statues of the Heralds. Ishar seems to think he's something that he's not. -
Unless we get introduced to a Singer by name I don't think it'll matter much - Most of the named ones that would have more emotional impact are Listeners.
-
Fused Gavilar basically - Or Evil Herald Gavilar as the Heralds don't need a sacrificial body. My counter to that is: why did Odium bother with Dalinar or Kaladin if he had a "herald" waiting in the wings?
-
Didn't want to quote the whole thing - Thanks for sharing the WoBs that clarify the nature of the husk! Wouldn't have figured that out just from books. I stand corrected on all fronts. I do wonder what game Cultivation is playing now - Is she panicking because it failed?
-
I dispute that she doesn't have a body. We've seen the bodies of every dead shard holder. I thought the reason he could punch Kelsier was because he was dead, not because of perception though; concede on that one.
