Honestly this thread has become disruptive to my own audiobook schedule. I'm doing Wheel of Time and reading your experience going through WoR makes me want to pause and go back to it. I'm so very excited for your thoughts on these last chapters

The power to act and knowledge to act on a particular thing seem to have an inverse relationship. At the time you can enact the greatest change you desire you haven't fully taken in the shard so don't get access to the knowledge you would need. Catch-22 of holding a Shard.

I absolutely agree with this. Ruin is coming whether or not you want it to. But if Sazed chooses something to decay it's probably better than some random spike of power.

I think Sazed trying to moderate the influence of Ruin in his "works" is strictly time limited. Purely because he can't keep it up forever. If he's suppressing Hemalurgy, for example, that's an effort of will against the Intent and it's going to push back. Ideally he needs to find a suitable outlet for the requirements of holding Ruin, I think. Having a lowercase-A avatar like Wax allows him to act in the world but by the end of TLM I think Wax is an even better representation for Harmony given that he's spiked.

While I was listening to TLM I thought this exactly. Prior to the reveal of Trell's identity I'd decided that it was Harmony and Discord acting in dual nature in order to break the problems introduced very early on. I have concern's that Harmony is just too impotent and not a long term viable combination of the two Shards.

This chapter lays a lot of ground work for sure.

I really enjoy Bridge 4 taking the fresh recruits into the chasms, Kaladin is good with his men.
