Wind and Truth: What is the loophole? [Discuss]
BinarySecond replied to r0cketm00se's topic in Stormlight Archive
No they don't. -
"With that done, we will need to restart the tower's protections, Navani said. These are complex fabrials ... made of the essence of spren. Of your essence?" RoW Chapter 111, emphasis mine. While Navani does recognise the devices in terms of function she also notes the complexity of them. Granted this is the Sibling and not just a "regular" spren. I also thought I recalled older fabrials to be less advanced but haven't found any text behind that memory yet.

Thank you all, and specifically Alder24 for the very detailed response; I wouldn't have found those WoBs in my searching but they definitely provide strong evidence regarding Honorblades as Metalminds.
-
Inspired by a post on r/Cosmere - Prompted me to some of my own speculation. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be able to get an answer on this from currently available novels. The meat of the thoughts: Can a Feruchemist use an Honorblade as a metalmind? I suspect the answer could be yes given Atium can be used for Feruchemy. Then a follow up question to this; If a Feruchemist bonds with an Honorblade can they fill/drain it without summoning it? I'm assuming that the bond is establishment of a specific Connection between the user and the weapon - If this is the case could this Connection overrule the contact requirement of a standard metalmind?

[Stormlight 5] Radiant resonance with two spren
BinarySecond replied to Alumínio's topic in Stormlight Archive
My expectation is that it's the same sort of shenanigans that results in Compounding on Scadrial; but it's the "same" Connection twice (Nahel bond). Could be an amplification of the Connection causing Shallan to touch other Capital letter aspects in the Cosmere (Fortune namely?) -

Do we know why a Second Pupation is undesirable for tame chull?

Is there any chance one of our heroes ascends to take up Odium and just chills the heck out? -
Could it be something to do with the Shinovar Oathgate? Take it halfway there and shut it off, then close off all the other gates, apart from the one at Narak?
-
I think I would find this acceptable; for any other radiant. I wonder if Kaladin is different somehow. The Stormfather certainly acts like he's different (Son of Tanavast).
-
That was also my conclusion, I spent a few hours going through WoBs with various search terms. It is something I'd really like to find out; I'll keep putting it Brandon's stream Q&As and keep hoping. Edit: I'd settle for a RAFO!

I was looking into Shardplate spren on found the following on the coppermind https://coppermind.net/wiki/Shardplate#Known_Shardbearers It states "The windspren in question where already following him long before he swore the Fourth Ideal." I've often wondered about this and have wanted to ask B$ for a while but never had a chance; if the Spren that make up his armour are the same ones that fly with him, that were helping him split the storm in Oathbringer. There isn't a reference included as to where the information on the Spren came from - Has this been confirmed by Brandon these are the same spren? It leads me to wonder if the plate spren as always with the radiant; like Shallan being accompanied by creation spren.

I apologise for my previous facetious question, but there is a genuine curiousity to it. I don't really understand the importance of Aviar to the cosmere - Why are they so important compared to something like Allomancy or a Knight Radiant (with a gun?)- 161 replies

While I am sorry there won't be more updates I wish to leave some words of support. I started Way of Kings twice before I got through it. Same with Dune and Wheel of Time. Sometimes books just don't work for you. I've grown fond of saying "Not everything is for everyone" -
