  1. Not sure, but I don't think it's because of their long life but because of how long they have had to deal with a shardic intent, and so naturally living longer shouldn't matter, especially since we have very long-lived characters like Marsh, Vasher, TLR, and Hoid who seem fairly sane.
  2. also was starting to lose his mind and becoming impatient and desparate
  3. It's not guaranteed. There are people who just remain a squire. Some will advance, others will not. We see a lot of squires becoming radiants because that is why you would become a squire, to hopefully become a radiant, and being a squire is inferior to being a radiant; you don't have a spren, you can't get a blade or plate, your powers are weaker in general (I believe Squires are like honorblade wielders if not worse and require lots of stormlight and worse healing). And I think everyone is looking at those too binary. It's not that becoming a radiant is impressive, it is how far you progress with oaths. Squires is not impressive, becoming a radiant on the first and second oath is a tad more, but nothing amazing, the third oath is fairly common, but is worth something, the fourth oath is difficult and is impressive and will probably be very few in number (maybe in the tens at most), and the fifth and final out, which are main characters we follow like Kal seem to be going towards, is 100% impressive and they will stand out. It's a scale. You still have something to be excited about, it's just not the becoming of a radiant, it's the progression of oaths for that radiant.
  4. Well, to the Cryptics, even the slightest change in tone is a different name, and I think they all just decided to copy pattern. he is the 'human expert'.
  5. I would not say they are lame, just more human, which is the reason we like them. They are actual characters with some motivations and are more interesting than most other myths about bland gods that are supposedly all-powerful while doing nothing whatsoever. Honestly, I prefer those kinds of myths.
  6. You, my friend, cleary do not read greek myths, where the gods are sometimes the prettiest beings you can ever have the misfortune of coming across. People can and do workshop anything, that's how religion exists.
  7. Shardblades don't actually slice through them, they slice through the soul, so they would not be physically harmed. They would have nothing to regrow.
  8. My sister got me Dawnshard for my Birthday! That was the one cosmere book I didn't have access to! My knowledge shall be complete for another year!

  9. Hmm, what does it take to join these ranks?
  10. Agreed. Kaladin's journey has Odium as an escape route that he must resist, not something to help heal himself.
  11. Hmm, a soother. I can make use of that.
  12. I have asked Windrunner if he would like someone to take his pace and he said yes.
  13. Okay, so you like him and he likes you... What's the problem? Date him already! It's not like you have to commit.
  14. The gemstone carries it, not the actual metal, and even if the two interact, one is a gaseous form and the other is solid, so their interactions would not be the same as two gases interacting. Talking about this does make me wonder what a would anti-light of let's say void light would do to stormlight. Can anti-light delete light beside the one it specifically anti to? How would that interaction go?
  15. I embezzle (Apologize Chamsm, I didn't see our message, and I want my coins back. Besides, Windrunner will never actually be on.) Coins-9 Cards-2
  16. Happy birthday.

Thanks! And to you in a few days!

  17. I know, I still find that ridiculous. He is Harmony, and his metal should represent that, yet it really doesn't. I said that in the beginning, I know that explanation, but the two powers can be together, Sazed didn't explode when he took the powers, so why should his metal?
  18. It's a podcast Shad occasionally comes onto. They get a lot of unwarranted hate for various reasons, the most recent being they don't like the Mandalorian because it's filled with plot holes and contrivances, all the characters intelligence is no more than a baby's, plot armor is through the roof, barely any actual characters, they are mostly just props, etc, etc. If you have seen Shad's video on Mando, you get the general drift. I do not suggest it. You don't seem like the type to like it, the humor can be strange, and you honestly seem too... not sure what word to use, but yeah, I don't think it's for you. If you want to try it, the channel is Mooler. Good day to you, sir.
  19. Okay, me going through the thread talking about Harmony Blades when I started thinking about Ettmetal's (Harmony's Godmetal) properties, like the fact it explodes, making it pretty bad for normal uses people would have for metals. And I know there is the explanation the reason Harmony's metal explodes is because of the powers of Preservation and Ruin being represented and all that, but why would Harmony, the supposed perfect mix of the two shards, be represented in a metal that explodes? Why would it be so reactive? I would think it would be more like a noble gas and just not react with anything. So I see two potential explanations. Either 1. Ettmetal is more likely the godmetal of Discord, which would make more sense. An explosion seems like a nice representation of discord. However, this doesn't completely work because for now, as it doesn't seem like Sazed is Discord and it might have even been stated that ettmetal is Harmony's god metal. And then there's the fact I tend to push back at the theory that Sazed is Discord because I imagine if he was, it would be very destructive for the Scadrians, but maybe he is more in Discord with himself and is still conscious enough to not end up screwing over the planet he cares about. Something to think about. The other explanation is 2. the metal is currently symbolizing Sazed's struggle with the powers and that's why it' so reactive right now, because he still hasn't figured out how to deal with the contrasting intents, and the metal will eventually start to change as Sazed gains mastery of his abilities, becoming less and less reactive, as ettmetals abilities seem to be more about it weird storing and realizing of investiture rather than it's reactivity. So maybe one-day Ettmetal, or at least further production of ettmetal, will become stable, like a normal metal. (Also, random thought that popped in my head, but when Shardblades are summoned, they are covered in condensation, which would be bad for a metal that explodes when in contact with water. Wonder if there's a connection there.)
  20. Lift isn't much of a fighter, Teft could defend himself, and I'm not going to get mad at Vyre for fighting Teft when Teft would try and kill him in a heartbeat. It's like how killing battlefield medics are seen as horrendous. Plus she's a child.
  21. Yes, Vyre did nothing unreasonable. (honestly, the thing I'm most mad about was him cutting Lift's legs. That's it)
  22. Hope you're not referring to EFAP That would be lightsabers, and he isn't wrong. With how lightsabers are explained, all the mass should be at the hit, which isn't what we see, but he does concede there are in-world ways to explain it and that it is internally consistent. He would simply like it if they were more realistic, but he won't call them bad just because they say screw you to science. I can't speak to RPGs, so I going to take some of your word on it.
  23. You forgot the spike. Where's the spike?
