  1. It was an honor to have welcomed you, Knight of a Thousand Posts
  2. Renarin's futuresight is much stronger than what Sak initially showed in Sixth of the Dusk. Renarin predicted Jasnah becoming aware of his spren's Corruption and coming to kill him, he saw Odium attempting to turn Dalinar into his Champion. Sak showed Dusk his (possible) corpses along his path, predicting immediate danger. Sak was much more limited than Renarin. I don't doubt that someone could leverage this ability against someone with stronger Fortune abilities, like Vin using electrum against Atium but of the two, Sak and Renarin, who would have been a better foil against someone with Fortune?
  3. Yeah but how Preservation and Ruin's power interacted with one another is notably different from how Honor and Odium's power interacted with one another. Even amongst other Shards, Preservation and Ruin were particularly opposite to one another: Conceptually too, Preservation and Ruin are much more of an antonym to one another than any other Shardic Intent pairings. Stormlight and Voidlight didn't really repel one another, they didn't react to one another at all. Preservation's Mist on the other hand drew back from Hemalurgic piercings. Preservation and Ruin's Investiture actually hurt each other upon contact. I think Ruin and Preservation's Rhythms are particularly close to one another's Anti-Rhythms.
  4. Hmm... I think the most info we've gotten so far about them came from the Radiant Order official sorting quiz. https://www.brandonsanderson.com/the-ten-orders-of-knights-radiant/
  5. Welp, this is sort of confirmed by Brandon in the 17S interview. Kelsier is seen as something like that or at least a cult of personality like a spiritual guru by some of the Ghostbloods. Iyatil is Southern Scadrian, Mraize follows Kelsier's creed of Survival, interpreting it as survival of the fittest, predator-prey stuff. He was highly offended (his own words) by Shallan's rejection of the Ghostbloods' Master.
  6. Sak's futuresight abilities could interfere with other forms of futuresight. It was basically like Allomantic electrum focusing on very high possibility of death in the immediate future, which I think is too narrow to cause too many problems with anyone else's use of Fortune but his abilities seemed to have gotten powered up after the Patji-wide Aviar alert incident. [Sixth of the Dusk sequel moderate spoilers] The common Aviar ability to shield minds, which is what I'm assuming you meant by "general Aviar", we don't really know... They are the Aviar which are the easiest to get, and Mraize seems to have an Aviar, that might help with shielding him from Shards? That's quite a few assumptions though. And Shards are very powerful. Normal Copperclouds do not work against Shards, I'm assuming Aviar are about the same level, so they probably don't work either.
  7. A Fullborn who isn't arrogant, has access to all 16 metals as Allomantic reserves and Feruchemical metalminds, and being Fullborn have access to Compounding of all 16 metals? Well, they curbstomp Radiants utterly.
  8. You can always use the glyphs corresponding to the closest approximate phonetic sounds. C is either K or S, X is Z or eks, Q is K, ku or Kyu, admittedly W is a different sound from U or V, but you could still use UU or VV, just like how in English we sometimes use double letters to represent a single sound (like Sh or Ph, though admittedly those are just aspirated)
  9. Okie-dokie, I found these two WoBs: So, the Feruchemical symbols are older than the Final Empire, so it is possible that they might be older than what's called Ancient Terris, especially given the origin of Feruchemy Okay, so, I expected this to have a way more definite answer than this, which is why I originally posted this on Cosmere Q/A. I'll ask the mods to move it to the Mistborn forum to get our tinfoil hats on.
  10. Yeah, I can barely see the image, will have to use the link. Hmm... you might have to give open/public permission for file viewing. Ooh capitalizations, I checked and it's canon, I completely missed it Also, agh, right, Scadrians use base-16 numeral system...
  11. Elantrians are so much more powerful than Radiants and so firmly entrenched in their city of Elantris that I cannot imagine them being overcome. The only other Selish magics we've seen with combat applications are Dakhor monks, ChayShan and Bloodsealing. While they can hold out, Radiants have greater edge there. It's possible to weaponize Forgery too but it might serve better at infiltration and sabotage. There's so many more Selish magics to consider but we haven't seen them so...
  12. It really is a shame that we never got to see a Mistborn using all the metals, and the only Fullborn we see died from arrogance. I think Roshar undoubtedly has the edge in open warfare, but maybe medallions / Southern Scadrian tech / mechanical Allomancy and Feruchemy will help bridge the gap, though Rosharan fabrial science will also develop tremendously to counter them. Hemalurgy isn't too helpful to steal power from Radiants but it's good at taking them out, assuming you can get through Shardplates somehow if they're Fourth Ideal. War logistics is the biggest deciding factor: Radiants need Stormlight and spren (difficult to get off-world), Allomancers and Feruchemists need metal (much, much easier); Rosharans have Soulcasting, Scadrians might have Bendalloyminds, Rosharans have the superior edge here. Scadrians will probably have Goldminds to face Stormlight healing. They'll probably have to develop something to counter Shardblades, athough... evasion from superior weaponry can get you quite far, looking at irl wars. Both have means for mobile air troops via steel but Rosharans also have two Radiant Orders there. Then there are other creatures on both planets. Kandra and Koloss, Singers and Sleepless and Siah and (few) Larkins. Other Greatshells might be harnessed for the war efforts. Scadrial does have Mistwraiths... but Kandra and Koloss are better for combat. Renewable troops with direct access to Invested Arts would be a greater concern for Scadrial as its magic is genetic, whereas on Roshar, it's meritocratic.
  13. I'm imagining some really hilarious scenarios because of this line "both sides are bloodlusted", angry chickens and cremlings, lol So, are angry Rosharan fauna joining in on the action? Chasmfiends? Spren? What about the Stormfather? The Nightwatcher? So are the Selish the defenders and Rosharans the attackers? Where is this happening? How are Rosharans moving Light from Roshar to Sel? How are the Selish accessing the Dor on Roshar?
  14. Eh, I never think too deeply about these things when I read fantasy books, it's still strange to do so for Sanderson's books even after 3 years. Well, he sacrificed physics for ambiance, I guess, *shrugs* But wouldn't just not getting direct sunlight count for a lot more than reflectivity/absorption of heat?
  15. Not very well, I'd reckon, but yes. Shardblade is made of godmetal, Blessings are just Hemalurgic spikes. The Bands of Mourning apparently aren't enough to compare to a Shardblade But there's also this: While this one supports the initial conclusion that Metalminds and Hemalurgic spikes don't compare to Shardblades and Shardplates: This WoB supports you: There's this list of how Invested things are: tl;dr: contradictory WoBs, we'll know the answer when we see something like that happen in a book
  16. The real question is, what would happen if a Shardblade separated a Kandra's two Blessings? Or cut through a Blessing?
  17. It would work I think the effect would "just" be a super strong Basic Lashing to crush or punt people even harder/further. Much stronger than a punch, I'd say.

  19. I'm thinking that role might be reserved for Sja-Anat or Ba-Ado-Mishram
  20. I'm not arguing that. Just where and when did this divergence happen? Is this script a natural evolution or sort of designed by the Terris, like the Steel Alphabet was? (the script looks like it changed due to medium, Ancient Terris looks like it was written with brushstrokes, while the Steel Alphabet looks like it was engraved) Is this an actual Terris Alphabet that's in use or just Feruchemical symbols? Do we have any info on this at all from Brandon?
  21. I really loved the Steel Alphabet evolution page when I first saw it on Coppermind. It made so much sense! From the Terris brushstrokes to the carved serifs of the Steel Alphabet of the Final Empire. I was so curious how the Steel Alphabet handwriting would look, I really wanted to see cursive Steel Alphabet. I did not expect it to look so Dravidian! (I visualized it as looking more Tengwar) Also, I was wondering about the dots because they reminded me of diacritical marks and I found this: Which also answers the question of how they'd spell names like "Kelsier" with its dipthong of ie (I'm not looking up phonetic transcriptions of French pronunciations *shudders*)
  22. But the Steel Alphabet is all that survived the Final Empire, isn't it? No other N Scadrian script was used in the Empire, or the Elendel Basin Post-Catacendre. Why would they diverge? (assuming from the Table of Allomancy, which used the Steel Alphabet symbols) When did they even diverge? Did the Terris have a different script in the Final Empire? It could happen but wasn't it their script in the first place that was adapted into the Steel Alphabet after the Lord Ruler's Ascension? Did it happen Post-Catacendre? The Terris did isolate themselves
  23. The eyes and hair look amazing!
