  1. What timezone does the Shard run off of? At what point do things reset, and when does a new day officially start on the Shard? There isn't an important reason for me wanting to know this, I am just curious. I have seen a few questions in the past answered and part of the answer was related to timezone. Also, I have been really close to getting the most reputation for a few days now. I am always ahead when I go to sleep, but in the morning there is always someone who passed me by just a few reputations, so I want to know when the count stops adding to me on one day and starts adding to another.

Iron is the best. Ranette was thinking along the right lines with her semi-autonomous house, also, it would be pretty cool to be able to pull things to me from across the room. Productivity would increase so much!
  3. Mistborn
  4. Look, there is only one true interpretation of Tom Bombadil, and knowing this will prove that I am the best Tolkien fan, even though I thought that tLotR was way to long and way to slow. Tom Bombadil is the reincarnated spirit of Gandalf, after having retaken physical form after his inevitable demise. He traveled through time to help the travelers on their way, while acting as aloof as possible.
  5. He actually did think of it, he came to me and was mad that I told him RAFO. I explained that anyone would answer that way, but he wanted proof so he came and posted his theory. I will tell you once again brother, RAFO
  6. They got the spikes by taking the breaths from all Nalthians, then making spikes from the new moly made Drabs. Then they made 100 Nightbloods to make an army of them.
  7. I LOVED Mistborn: Survival of the dead man, but I didn't like how Frost came in and ate the Wyrn who was trying to overtake Ruin and become the Vessel of the Shard.
  8. If you see some specific memes that you want to upvote at this instant, then you can go find other posts that you upvoted, remove your upvote, and then give it to the place you desire. Generally, however, it is courteous to leave an upvote once you have given it.
  9. My signature has had Harry Potter stuff in it for months, but here it is anyway. I'm a Ravenclaw with an otter patronus. I have a 11.5 inch blackthorn wand with a unicorn hair core. I am an Irish boy. I am a pureblood with auror parents.
  10. Spoilered for size 3 memes inside
  11. All of these are rational and logical arguments, but by the nature of their immortality, Fused are unable to leave the Rosharan system.
  12. No, I can’t remember exactly where, maybe when Vin was fighting at the very beginning of Well of Ascension. It has been a while since I read through Mistborn, I have been focusing on Nalthis and Roshar recently
  13. I thought there was a scene where there were multiple atium burners and EVERYONE had multiple shadows
  14. My guess would be that as soon as Hero of Ages spoilers It is similar to how a single atium burner has near perfect future sight. If you add another, it multiplies 100 fold. If you add a 3rd then even more possibilities become visible. If there are less entities with future sight, everyone’s vision gets better.
  15. I thought that is severed the real world correlate would be that someone had their nerves severed. In the book, the body seems to keep them alive, just not functioning. In real life, people that have been paralyzed or have some other condition that harms their nerves are unable to move their limbs, but the body continues to give nutrients to the unusable section.
  16. In Bands of Mourning Sazed talks to Wax and explains how a god can’t get rid of all evil. In RoW, when Dalinar rides the storm, he has an argument with the Stormfather, who is arguably one of the most powerful entities on the planet, thereby classifying him as a god. He actually is worshipped as a god in parts of the west. Anyway, Dalinar tells the Stormfather to have mercy on some travelers, but the Stormfather refuses, saying that it is not his way and change isn’t good, but Dalinar insists that he must become something more, something better. This raises the question, would Dalinar and Sazed get along? Their philosophies seem to contradict one another.
  17. We don’t know the full extent of his plans. He made it seem like he wanted to turn his attention to the entire Cosmere, which could mean that he will use Roshar in the same way Rayse planned, and a planet designated for raising an immortal army.
  18. I always thought that they used common sense and charisma to get the breaths. Let's say they lived for 1000 years, and they each choose one place to live. They still met up and corresponded, but they had a home in one city. They talked with all the people there and made a contract with them and their descendants. This contract said that when someone was about to die, the Scholar who was in residence would be allowed to collect it for research purposes. If this was agreed to, and it was a large city, they could collect breaths very quickly. This is a hypothetical example, which has been greatly simplified.

  20. Happy Birthday! I hope you revisit the Shard soon!

  21. I thought that forum games didn’t count toward total post count?
  22. Spoilered for Size Mistborn Era 1 and 2 Spoilers
  23. The 17th Shard has been a website for about 10 years, give or take. A month or two ago, we reached 1,000,000 posts. This was a huge occasion and people celebrated. We have almost posted 100,000 more posts since that time. Has the Shard suddenly become more popular? Was it the release of RoW that brought people to the site? Why has the activity increased so much, and how do we keep the activity so high?
  24. I agree with you, I am also Christian. In real life, I have the same standards of a God who knows everything, sees everything, can do anything and is always everywhere. But this is a book. I have different standards in a book because we are already bending the rules of reality with magic, which is something that my God could theoretically do if He was so inclined. Of course, I believe in a God that can do anything, yet always follows the laws of nature. Sometimes, we don't understand all the laws of nature, but He does. I don't know, all I am trying to say is that, this is a book, and if a book did have a God that met my standards, then the storyline would be... different. If the God was evil then it would be LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE for Him to die.
