  1. 1. Messing with memories isn’t physical harm, which is what the contract forbids. 2. We don’t actually know how many breaths Hoid has, there was plenty of time for him to gain breaths off screen. 3. Taravangian can see the future. He probably knows what will help him the most in the long run. 4a. He may have thought that Rayse wouldn’t interfere with or notice his breaths, sadly for him Taravangian was now Odium. 4b. It was intentional. Taravangian now thinks he is in control, but Hoid had backup memories somewhere and he somehow predicted what had happened.
  2. I will make a distinction between those worthy of protection and those who need to be removed for the protection of the greater good. The wording is nowhere near perfect, but I think that the idea is right.
  3. I have always taken it to be a conscious choice of his. He is flamboyant and unpredictable on Roshar, so it kinda fits his personality.
  4. 55. Hoid cannot explain the reasons for his actions, because then everything he does would actually make sense
  5. I have read a lot, but not all of them. Between books, I focus on terminology and understanding exactly what is going on. I will read coppermind pages over and over, and I will read the WoBs that are associated with that page. There is actually a lot of interesting stuff that wasn't mentioned in books but is still useful to know.
  6. Don’t be to hard on yourself. Also, there are thousands of WoBs, so don’t waste to much time doing that
  7. Unmade are splinters of Odium that Rayse deliberately created to serve him.
  8. I did. Then Frustration said nothing was wrong, that paired with me on my 3rd reread (I just got to the part where Teft dies). I am no longer over it. Also, kid? How old do you think I am? Anyway, back to posting memes in the RoW memes thread.
  9. Teft, Marsh, Galladon, Clubs. Those are four of my favorite characters. TEFT IS DEAD
  10. He killed Teft. He killed Teft. He KILLED Teft. The best character in the Cosmere was killed by Vyre, and you say he did nothing wrong?!?!
  11. Ruin and Preservation aren’t opposites, they are balanced. Ruin keeps Preservation in check and vice versa, but they are not technically opposites.
  12. Definitely on the side of Scadrial. I think they would win, and I want them to win. They have the coolest magic systems and the best Shards. I also read Mistborn first so they have always been my passion. BTW you double posted this thread.
  13. Invention is the best for me. I want to be a God of science and explanations. I want to rule over a people that are creative and can think for themselves. (Kinda similar to the God that I actually believe in)
  14. Why do the Fused fight? They want to reclaim the land from the humans, but what is the end goal. Are the Fused going to live on Roshar? Are the Fused going to live with the singers? Are the Fused going to enter the Beyond and leave the land for the singers? What is their motivation?
  15. I agree, mostly. In my mind, the majority of dragons follow this description, but there are exceptions. Some of them will deviate based on environment or purpose. There might be a snake-like dragon that lives in the ocean, or a wingless dragon that lives deep within the earth guarding a secret treasure. Btw, most of my ideas of what dragons look like are based off of Fablehaven and Dragonwatch, by Brandon Mull.
  16. Well, there is a WoB out there saying that is he wanted to, Harmony could create lerasium and atium seperate from one another. What he could do is make individual blades. A lerasium blade that grants Mistborn powers, and an atium blade that grants Feruchemical powers (I am aware that Ruin controlled Hemalurgy and not Feruchemy, but Atium needs to control something. If Feruchemy had its own metal, it would bring us back to the Ettmetal dilemma).
  17. You cannot take anything for granted in Brandon’s books. There is always a chance for differences and change. On Roshar there are 500 days in a year, but each day is only 20 hours. Roshar is also smaller than Earth, which means there is less gravity. That could explain confusion, but there is also a much simpler solution. They live in the Cosmere. The Cosmere has different governing laws than our universe. Different things are possible and some things are beyond our understanding. We can explain some stuff, but at a certain point we have to step back and say “New universe, new laws, new impossibilities”
  18. I just checked on the FamilySearch website, the ancestry source I use, and I am distantly related to Ahlstroms and Sandersons.
  19. From what I have noticed, the best way to gain reputation is to post on the Sanderson Memes thread or some other thread that is popular. If you have a good post you can get upwards of 10 or 20 rep.
  20. Let me get this straight, you are a professional hacker. You want to hack the forums, Arcanum, and the Coppermind, but not exploit this. You only want to hack so you can find the weak parts and report them to administration so they can be patched. Is that right? You want to hack in order to help? Cool, my uncle has a job like that. Sadly, I can’t give permission to do this, I don’t have the authority. To do anything. At all. #powerless
  21. No, not a rip off. These are common tropes and arcs that Brandon has used and adapted for his own purposes. Many authors have used similar scenes. I can see why this may be concerning at first glance, but don’t worry, Brandon has done nothing wrong. This is still an original work, created with Brandon’s ingenuity.
  22. When you realize Ahlstrom Square in Luthadel is named after Peter Ahlstrom. Also when you realize that Ahlstrom Square is a circle, not an actual square.
  23. Brandon has real world inspirations for everything he writes about. Different cultures and beliefs are very heavily used in different types of his world building. This could very possibly be where he got those Shards.
