You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Chinkoln replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
It is my cousin. My cousin is the only Sanderfan in my life, even though my brother is close to converting to the Devotary of Sanderson. -
Arcanum probably has it, if you have the time to search for a bit

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Chinkoln replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you go to meet a friend for a school project, but when you get there they mention one detail from RoW. 3 hours later you leave their house, and not a single thing has been done on the project. -
I think that if a Windrunner thought a condemned person was innocent, they would talk to the head administrator and discuss the issue. After discussion and debate, one side would convince the other. If the Windrunner wasn’t convinced, they could always use their social station to pardon the convict.

Welcome to the Shard! There are a lot of people here who like writing and reading, so this is the ‘write’ place for you! The only thing similar to an outline that I can think of is “The Way of Kings Prime”. This was an earlier version of “The Way of Kings”. This can be found on Brandon’s website, brandonsanderson.com.

What are some of your hobbies that are weird or odd? 1. Most people say my reading addiction 2. Talking in Old English 3. Talking in other languages 4. Talking in High Imperial 5. Looking at Chaos’ profile, then looking at what his most recent posts are so I can try to figure out what the most common infractions are, and what Chaos is genuinely interested in. What about y’all?

No, you are fine, you didn’t make me uncomfortable. I just wanted to ensure that all content was suitable for people of all ages.

I guess so. I have never participated in this so I don’t know. I will take your word for it. We should probably end this discussion here. The public forums on the Shard isn’t the place for a conversation like this. There are people both old and young who read Sanderson and are on the Shard. We don’t want to make this a place that isn’t safe for them to be. I am actually going to go edit out a sensitive part of my earlier message. I would appreciate it if you could edit that part out of your quote from me.

Welcome! Of all the Cosmere books, which has been your favorite?

Raysium is now confirmed to exist, and we know that it can steal stormlight. We have also seen the mechanism reversed, and the captured stormlight (or voidlight) was pushed along the blade into whatever was stabbed. Raboniel told us that the transfer of Stormlight works best if you stab the holder of the Investiture. I think this sounds an awful lot like Hemalurgy. If anything, this may be a more effective way of hemalurgy. What if you stabbed an allomancer with it and stole their powers. You go over to your friend, reverse the effects, and stab them. The power flows into them, and then the knife can be removed.

I like Era 1 more because it was more interesting. There was always some knowledge or a goal that they knew existed, but they didn't know exactly what it was. They were fighting Shards and killing gods. The character arcs were more intriguing and addictive. I also like how they didn't have all the metals, though that falls in line with bits of knowledge they don't possess. That said, I think both Era's were amazing, and Brandon has proven his worth time and time again each time he releases a book and series.

If we are getting this in depth into it, the Epic's powers become very important. Depending on the Epic's powers, they need to eat. Attach the bomb to the fridge or a cabinet. If they don't eat, then attach it to as many doors as you can find(assuming they can't teleport or phase through walls). If all else fails, plant explosive charges in key locations such as near the house's foundation, at points where structural integrity is weakest, and then set up a camera to watch the house remotely. Once they enter, blow them and collapse the house on them. If a bomb can kill them, then a house this big collapsing on them will kill them. Nuking them would work, but they could probably escape a fire.

If me and a friend both bought lottery tickets, and I won, I would feel bad for my friend that didn’t win. I would try to help them share in the happiness. It isn’t pity, it is just our Connection. I want them to be happy in life, though even if I gave them millions of dollars, they still might not be happy, and at that point it is their choice, and nothing I do can help influence them.

If I make a hair comb and use it to stir soup, that comb is still a comb. Even if the Intent is for the comb to act as a spoon, the comb is technically a comb. The Stormfather was summoned as a blade but not used to kill.

You don't need to know that Epic has that weakness. Killing from a distance is the preferred method of disposing of Epics, in case it fails and they go into a rage. I feel like a bomb is a common way to do it. There is no hassle of aiming, shooting, and then escaping if the epic attacks or his lackeys come after you. If it works, then one epic is dead. If it doesn't work, you know that the Epic has some prime invincibility because most epic will die from a bomb.

Hasn’t he sworn (if not in a formal oath, at least in passing words) to his men and friends that he wouldn’t abandon them, and that he would stick with them throughout the coming war? Also, I feel like his personal ideals hold almost as much weight as a sworn oath, because of his station as Bondsmith.

Well, I was thinking along similar lines, but the major flaw with that is the words of one of the honorspren. They said that when Dalinar did that he broke his oaths and almost killed the Stormfather, which indicates it was worse than the humans had thought. And if you remember, after Dalinar did this the Stormfather was much more secluded for a time, which shows how much he got hurt and how offended he was.

Dalinar Kholin bonded the Stormfather, becoming one of the three Bondsmiths. Part of his oath was that he wouldn’t force the Stormfather into becoming a Shardblade, while another was that he would lead his forces to oppose Odium and defeat the Voidbringers. While in Vedenar, he felt Nergaoul, the Unmade that is commonly known as the Thrill. He recognized the Thrill and immediately ran away so that he wouldn’t fall under its influence. In order for him to escape he had to force the Stormfather into becoming a blade. Was Dalinar justified in forcing the Stormfather into becoming a blade? (For any curious, this question was sparked in my mind when the honorspren were questioning Adolin at his trial.)

This is one of the best I have heard, but what if I left a bomb under your couch, and had it activate when you sat down. There would be no human interaction there, everything would be accomplished in solitude.

I have been reading RoW (I mean, who hasn’t. If anything I am taking longer than most). I got to chapter 80, which is the one where Hoid tells Kaladin the story of the Dog and the Dragon. A little bit after the story, Hoid tells Kaladin “I can’t keep this bubble up much longer”. Is this a manifestation of allomancy, specifically bendalloy, on Roshar?

Atium let’s whoever is burning it see into the future. Steel compounding allows you to move at unimaginable speeds. Let’s say that a steel compounder saves up steel for years, hiding in his home. A Mistborn saves up atium for years. At the end of x amount of years, they both have a seemingly infinite amount of either speed or atium. (Technically a compounder doesn’t need to save up much speed, but for the scenario we will say they do. We are also going to assume that the Mistborn doesn’t have access to any of the other metals, just atium) I think that the steel compounder would beat the atium burner. Even if you can see into the future, that doesn’t matter if your enemy can move faster than you can react. Thoughts?

Aside from teaching math and running 17th Shard, what are the top 3 things you spend your time doing?
-
I don't think this is a huge problem, but I just saw an account with a partial spoiler from RoW in the signature (You know, the part below what they post). Can a policy be put in place that prevents this?

Y'all, I just watched Shardcast for the first time. Chaos is NOTHING LIKE I EXPECTED. He is so charismatic! He is energetic and friendly. I had imagined him as some dude who sits there all day, scanning the forums for the slightest infraction, but he is so nice!!!!!!!!! I will never again be able to be scared or apprehensive of staff! Thank you @Chaos for everything that you do!
