  1. I like the theory. I've also come to think that the creation of Surge fabrials require the power of a Bondsmith to make
  2. This makes a lot of sense. I was wondering if this was the case after I was reminded that attractors existed.
  3. I also would be surprised if he named dropped them all as well. But I could see it happening if like a conversation of divine traits came up and someone like the Heralds or more likely Hoid listed off a series over traits like "to preserve and to destroy" and the like.
  4. I have not said that physics are more important, however you do downplay their importance. While Brandon does use the Cognitive to gloss over, he has consistently in his writing and comments that he does care about physics interactions with his magic systems even if it isn’t perfect *cough*Feruchemy*cough. I agree that an augmenter is both more practical and likely to be done, but that doesn't mean that people's perceptions are everything. I have given examples with the Cryptids on how despite them being Cognitive beings they are more tied to the math underlying their patterns than people's perceptions and beliefs would say of them. This likely applies to all or at least most spren that are built on natural forces. The attractor for instance, no one would likely even try that unless they have at least a simple underlying understanding of how electricity works but that doesn't mean it isn't part of the spren's nature.
  5. And static electricity exists. It's a know thing that "lightning" isn't limited to storms. That on some level it exists in the environment. and these help your argument how? They basically are Brandon does care for physics he just doesn't know enough to go deep into it. And fantastical science is a theme in the Cosmere. The presence of Investiture and the three Realms give fantastical aspects to it but Brandon has repeatedly shown that even his fantastical elements work with physics. If a lightningspren generates lightning for instance, it's still lightning and therefore electricity. I think the attractor idea is impractical but it isn't outside the realm of possibility. Spren while being living concepts still will retain properties the concept is of. Back to Cryptids, they are viewed as liespren but that isn't all they are and are tied to patterns and the underlying aspects of those patterns
  6. The problem with your argument, and why it being in this thread really doesn't help is that it is clear that there are Realmantic physics involved and that the concept and perception of something isn't the end all be all. The WoB I posted clearly has Brandon saying that Realmatic physics are involved. By your logic a Flamespren wouldn't be able to be used in Fabrials to heat a room if they were just the idea of flame. They would need to use a Heatspren to heat a room. A Flamespren would only create fire. But that isn't the case. There are clearly physical interactions by which the Flamespren converts Stormlight to heat
  7. The issue is that unlike Iron, Steel, etc. Copper stores discrete things. Brandon has said as much. When Storing Copper, you don't lose your capacity to gain new memories, you Store specific ones. How would you remember better than the perfect recall that Storing in a Coppermind offers?
  8. @Gilphon except Brandon explicitly states that scene was a nod to properties of the natural world. Edit: An example is Pattern, most Rosharans (if any) wouldn't have any understanding or concept of fractals and the complicated mathematical concepts that he represents
  9. Except in some way physics does play a part with Spren. This can be seen with the observations of the flamespren. So while perception does have importance, natural physics do too. Remember, perception in the Cognitive Realm isn't just how Sapiant beings perceive them but also how objects and people perceive themselves.
  10. I see what you did there
  11. I agree that Tin is unlikely for Diminishers, I personally think Copper might be more likely but that's because of my personal theory on Copper Allomancy. Of all the metals, Iron and Steel seem the most likely to me for Conjoiners and Reversers respectively
  12. The way I viewed it was that Evi's was the catalyst for it. Afterall it was his warmongering that killed her in the first place. As far as I'm concerned, the books we have already have shown that he is better. He wanted a truce with the Parshendi rather than extermination for example despite them assassinating his brother. Oathbringer was just a showcase for how bad he used to be and how much better of a person he is. In Oathbringer while he doesn't say it outright, it seemed pretty clear to me that he didn't approve of Jasnah's suggestions to either kill the Heralds or commit genocide against the parshmen
  13. I'm also of the belief that Kaladin is being supernaturally affected. I think by either Odium himself or possibly Dai-gonarthis is pushing on his depression making it worse. The scene where he thinks back to Moash's statement "I can take away the pain" was very reminiscent to me of what Ruin did to Vin.
  14. I'm sure the skill of the Feruchemist must also play a part as well. The Bands were able to hold a ludicrous amount of Investiture despite their relatively small size.
  15. The thing is, I'd still pick Gold. I would be fine spending time feeling super sick and tapping just a little bit at a time after to have that little extra boost of good health. Even non major injuries would be nice to heal up a little faster. And it would just be nice to know you had some health stored up in case you had to do something risky
  16. Sadeas was a traitor who was threatening not just Dalinar but the entire world for his own petty reasons. At least Dalinar acknowledged that what he's done is unforgivable and is trying to be a better person. That's the biggest difference between Sadeas and Dalinar
  17. I can't remember for sure but I think Brandon said something about Coppermind storage not working with muscle memory
  18. Based on a comment from Brandon saying that Wax is very good at sculpting his bullet trajectory during one of the comments about his Resonance, that he can make the bubble without really knowing how he's doing it, Miles comments about how good of a shot he is, and the Ars Arcanum mentioning that Metalic Arts Resonances are subtle. I think his Resonance gives him an intuitive understanding of vectors of force and trajectory
  19. Potentially the Nicrosilmind if unkeyed can be tapped by anyone. Which frankly makes sense otherwise a Nicrosil Ferring would never be able to regain their Stored ability The biggest issue I see with this is that by everything we know about Hemalurgy, the Spike would have to be placed into a bind point to work. Even a Kandra Blessing which is about the closest thing to what you propose still needs to be inside the body to work.
  20. Noticing that she doesn't seem to care is a good catch actually and is important to her character arc. But explaining further would be a pretty big spoiler
  21. As a leader of a nation, I have no doubt Jasnah would advocate genocide. People tend to get hypocritical and emotional when family is involved and Jasnah is human and has human faults so that would explain Renarin. With Aesudan, her father died the very night she was making those plans and the grief very likely could have made her change her mind. Especially if she considered the grief her brother would go through if his wife was assassinated so close to their father. Jasnah however strikes me as someone who if removed from the pain she is causing wouldn't hesitate to cause it. Her argument with Kaladin enforces it in my eyes. Not only was that the first option to come to her mind, it was one that she argued in favor for. She had a very simplistic answer, either literally put the Heralds through hell or commit genocide, she frankly refused to contemplate another option and used the excuse of logic. In fact she (and by extension Brandon) makes the same mistake that a lot of "logical" characters in fiction make. That only the most utilitarian option is the logical one, which flies in the face of history where often taking compassion into consideration has resulted in superior results. I love Jasnah as a character, and one of the reasons I do is all her little hypocrisies showing that she is more bounded by Alethi culture and customs than she herself likely is aware of.
  22. Maybe you can answer the question everyone has been asking. Is the conflict between the Ghostbloods and Sons of Honor just Mraize and Restares' lovers quarrel?
  23. Oh also, Kelsier might have used a Mistraith for his new body. It doesn't explain having hair and stuff but maybe with Feruchemical healing...
  24. What's stopping an unkeyed Nicrosilmind from being tapped by anyone? With Medallions, the simplest kind are mad up of only two metals. Nicrosil and whatever else. For example, one for tapping and storing weight. The Nicrosilmind gives the power to tap and store weight and the iron exist as a convenient metalmind. It seems to me is exactly like @Harrycrapper said, that they work like an Honorblade. Now how would an unkeyed Nicrosilmind come to exist? Well BoM basically flat out says that an Aluminum Feruchemist can not only make unkeyed Metalminds but also that by dumping their own Identity they can bypass the Identy lock of other metalminds. So, a Nicrosil Feruchemist stores his ability to tap and store Investiture. An Aluminum Feruchemist dumps their Identity and uses the Nicrosilmind to create an unkeyed Nicrosilmind that has the ability to tap and store Identity.
