Interesting.... Shardblades, however, come from a spren bond and it is possible to bond more than one. So, plates are a second spren... Level 5 knights are more powerful because they bonded more than one spren Interesting. Another theory... what are the chances that acting towards dead spren as if they were alive, and ... believing in them ... would be the thing to actually making them alive?

it looks to be strange to invent yet another script in the map - both letters AND numbers - just to show shallan's landing point. too much of a trouble. so... maybe this script is really important for this code. did anyone try to draw the numbers in a spiral, maybe the result is some kind of a map?

Copy from my other post, but here it makes more sense... So Melishi wanted to destroy all parshendi, but during the night had a better idea: destroy their bonds to the spren. This has something to do with the Bondsmith abilities probably. Kazilah did not agree with this and eliberated the 12th legion of the parshmen. He was executed, because parshmen are an enemy even in peace. A war started between the radiants, and the King of Makabakam took one side, sending (23k?) soldiers. As the windrunners were fighting, probably against the Makabaki (from twok recreance vision: "they should be fighting the devils on the front lines", where devils = dark skinned makabaki) - when a betrayal happens. also note from same vision: "they can't have gotten through our lines, not with the radiants fighting..." - the radiants fighting (as in among themselves)... so while the radiants were fighting, this act of great villainy happened, and was done by a secret society (amarams? ghostbloods?) even if the radiants were fighting among themselves, they all felt betrayed, and some of them withdrew from this fight. then, about 2000 of them attacked the society and (almost) destroy it. then they dropped their blades and severed their bonds, except for the skybreakers. so there were several betrayals, no doubt very well orchestrated. Anyway, that's my take on the Recreance. Another take: maybe Kazilah did something to make impossible what Melishi intended for the Parshmen, and gave the Parshmen the possibility of fighting; the radiants were fighting Parshmen in some non-god form (devils), when the humans betrayed the spren - the humans, not the Radiants. The Radiants responded, even if this lead to the death of the spren. One thing to note is that each order have very different oaths. So in order for all orders to do what they did, most probably oath #1, the common one, was broken.

I think only the heralds were linked to Tanavast. Like Honor said, the spren copied what he did with the Heralds. Bonding Tanavast would make one a Herald. Thus, Bondsmiths were bonded to spren.

Am I the first one to say that Callandor is the first Honorblade? ) Seeing how often Callandor was used, I don't think anyone would get that blade too soon

Interweaving is not likely to work, there were 2 paragraphs "interwoven" and now we have 2 paragraphs in a "rotational pattern". There are (i think) 58 spaces in the first rotational pattern out of 311 characters => is there something with a similar frequency (let's say 2 digits/letter) in the first pattern?
-
Mr. T did not write any ketek in the Diagram until now, why would he write this one as a ketek? Also, this message needs to be seen in a context with: and we have to understand what "rotation" and "pattern" means.

Szeth's Unique Aquisition (SPOILERS!!!!!!)

not sure Szeth have any surges, he's not bonded to no spren. -

Just read the descriptions of the blade in WoR and in TwoK - they are very different. It's not the same blade.

Words of Brandon (Q&A Responses)(*WoR Spoilers!*)

Eshonai actually is very important. According to Mr. T's notes, she's the "bridge". I am sure she will have a big role in the Desolation. -

Brandon said one Herald went back for his/her blade. I would nominate Chach (brave/obedient) or Battar (wise/careful). Chach because nobody would expect her (since she would supposedly obey the decision). Battar because she is wise. Why would he want a honorblade? He misses his own Blade I can't wait for Szeth vs. Vasher Nalan's cronies are not really Skybreakers. I don't really think they keep their rules. I'm hoping for Adolin to become the first true Skybreaker

Hmmm, I was just giving you more bullets why Renarin is so fantastic... (as in why Renarin acted the way he did).

Szeth's Unique Aquisition (SPOILERS!!!!!!)
marianmi replied to Swimmingly's topic in Stormlight Archive
So ... Nightblood to get rid of the "evil" shardblades? -
OR AWAY FROM SOME INTERESTING DISCOVERIES I think it's clear that Honorblades are not bonded. When I read about the 5 days spent by Dalinar "bonding" the blade I went back and re-read the description of the blade from WoR and the description of the blade in TwoK - they are clearly not the same. This subject is as good as closed Since I believe the guy that brought Taln to the Shattered Plains (Belvin?) is really loyal to Dalinar, and he did not notice the difference - it means the blade was switched very early on. Since we know Hoid was there when Taln came, for me it's clear currently Hoid has the Honorblade. Another explication could be that somehow Belvin's memory of the blade was tampered with, but this is far less probable than Hoid. I don't think he was there just to welcome Taln back

Yes, I am also convinced that Stormfather, Nightwatcher and probably Cusicesh are the 3 bondsmith's spren. Looks like I have some contributions here, too... 1) Stormfather and several other spren survived the Recreance. This is because, just like with Dalinar, Stormfather never crossed from Shadesmar to Physical. When a spren "dies", basically it loses his mind because there is no more bond. But if the spren is in Shadesmar, this does not happen. Hence, even if Dalinar breaks his oaths, Stormfather is safe. The downside is, of course, that the bond is ... incomplete. The spren does not get in the physical (I can't see actually what;s the bad part about this, but there must be one, for the spren), and the human does not get the Sprenshard. Communication is difficult between the human and the spren, and probably there is no mind-to-mind connection as we see with Kal and Syl (Syl knows exactly what Kal wants her to be when fighting Szeth). The other spren that survived were probably the skybreaker's spren, and the Nightwatcher. 2) Nightwatcher is probably Cultivation's equivalent of Stormfather. As we don't see Stormfather very ... giving ... with humans (which are, after all, Honor's children), Nightwatcher is also not that ... giving. Or actually, too giving - she gives you extra stuff (curses too) My theory is that Nightwatcher was bonded to a Bondsmith the same way as the Stormfather, and survived the Recreance (especially since Cultivation could see the fortune). 3) Cusicesh ... this is a more difficult one ... I would say that Cusicesh is a big Adonalsium spren. One bondsmith was bonded to Cusicesh, too, probably for the humans to have representatives to all "Gods". "During the times of Madasa, only one of their order was in continual accompaniment of Urithiru and its thrones". This might mean that one spren was all the time in the physical, probably Cusicesh. Then the recreance happened, and Cusicesh is reliving that moment all over again, every day, at the same hour as it happened.

From Mr. T's notes, looks to me that the Unmade are more like ... forces ... with not a lot of intelligence. At least not in the physical. So I would place them as big odium spren - actually, the only Odium spren. Parshendi refer to the old "gods", gods of hate - plural. So I would say Odium is mostly invested through the unmade, and the unmade are the ones creating corrupting spren (like Syl is Stormfather's daughter, the red storm spren are <name your unmade here>'s children). Since there was no everstorm before - maybe we have a new unmade?

The ethics of Shardblades (full book spoilers)
marianmi replied to Vortaan's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think there might be multiple definitions of killing a spren. Syl was probably "dead" the same way as Pattern was "dead". For a long time after getting Pattern, Shallan lied to herself (similar to Kaladin breaking his oath) => "dead" spren. But the knights at the Recreance I think did something way more ... permanent.- 25 replies
