Jah Keved's Thrill comes from one of the unmade, which moved there. Mr. T was tracking his movement.

[Full Book Spoilers] Honorblades and Stormlight
marianmi replied to Moogle's topic in Stormlight Archive
* Taln caught that blowdarts with no stormlight. Kal w/o stormlight would not have been able to do that. * W/o honorblades, heralds are still alive. So it's not just the honorblade, is also the heralds. -
Szeth's Unique Aquisition (SPOILERS!!!!!!)
marianmi replied to Swimmingly's topic in Stormlight Archive
* Is Zahel Sunmaker? Was it after being Sunmaker that he lost Nightblood to Nalan? * WILD THEORY: Will Nightblood feed on the souls Szeth hears when he closes his eyes? * Will Nightblood be able to truly kill spren, sucking in their Investiture? Or would this investiture all be sent back to Honor's shardpool? E.g. Nighblood kills all honorspren => Honor is put back. I think Nalan's intention is to have Szeth kill all surgebinders. If you look at it, they are all ... evil (cracked souls). -
Knights Radiant Orders and Surge Combination Theories
marianmi replied to Trickonometry's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm curios why the OP places Ym in #5. I think both Ym and Lift are #4, Edgedancers. It's interesting their spren is so different though. Ym's chapter has 2xVedeledev, and Lift has Vedeledev and Nalan(Darkness). -
LUMU'ANAKI came out from beneath the horneater lakes, a place where you commune with Gods. LUMU'ANAKI has an angular face (like Hoid), and white hair (like Hoid, he is said to dye his haid black). LUMU'ANAKI made fun of Rock's beard (like Wit). LUMU'ANAKI is the god of Travel and Mischief (like Hoid/Wit) Looks to me Hoid came from Sel. The Elantris AonDor pool seems to be connected to the Horneaters peaks through Shadesmar. Bathing there allow the horneaters to gain some cognitive abilities to see spren. It's interesting that Rock says that LUMU'ANAKI is forbidden by other Gods to hurt men.

I will make this post a new thread.

Surgebinding and the Knights Radiant: New Information (Spoilers WoR)
marianmi replied to Tarion's topic in Stormlight Archive
All current Radiants are the same gender as the order's herald and even look like them. Jezrien/Kaladin - male, strong features; Shallash/Shallan - female, young; Jashnah/Battar - female, long hair in a bun; Lift/Vedeledev - female, looks like somebody who's hungry * Dalinar: I'm pretty sure Bondsmiths are #10 / Ishi. Taln said that Ishar created the orders, like Dalinar tries to do now; adhesion and soft axial interconnection are 2 surges related to creating bonds/connections, Ishar is the old guy and Dalinar is the old guy. 1) Renarin: I imagine him looking like Kalak. Resolute/Builder with Cohesion and Transportation. Kelek looks to me also like he's the herald with Nalan that Jasnah meets in the prologue, and he's pretty subdued, almost taking orders from Nalan - like Renarin is taking orders from everyone. This leaves willshapers #5 - illumination and progression. Progression / Shaping ... Willshapers are described as capricious, unreliable, frustrating - which fits better with someone that can create illusions (illumination) than someone that can disappear (transportation). Truthwatchers are described as ultra-secretive, never speaking or writing of what they do - not really fitting learned/giving attributes of Palah. ON THE OTHER HAND: 2) Renarin: Palah being on the chapter icon is pretty clear indication that Truthwatchers are #5 (he would be the first radiant we see of different gender than their herald). He's good with patterns, due to illumination (waveforms). He healed hos eyes with Regrowth. He is best at seeing the future because #5 is very much Cultivation (green color), just as #10 is very much Honor (Stormfather). He is Learned, but his "Giving" attribute looks more like "Giving in" This leaves willshapers as #8 - resolute, builder - build (shape) resolute wills - capricious, unreliable they are strong willed and do as they wish - anyone we know like that? 3) I really saw Renarin as Brave/Obedient but yeah, there is not chance of that... -
The Heralds might not be from Roshar. Shalash might have violet eyes because she always had violet eyes, and be the only one on the planet like that (since she;s not actually from Roshar). Taln might have dark eyes because the he always had dark eyes.

* It's strange that Gavilar wanted the return of the Heralds and Church, when the visions are clear: Restore the Radiants. Did he get the same visions as Dalinar, or different (more like the visions the ardents got at the Hierocracy?)? * Can Mraize be the Dragon? He is, at least, the one exchanging letters with Hoid in WoR, telling him not to interfere....

Dalinar's bond to Stormfather is different, in a way that allows Stormfather not to die (like he said, he would not be bound in a way to kill him). Like Moogle said, Stormfather makes no transition to the physical => he would not "die" there, Dalinar would not have a physical Blade, etc. It's curious though how Shallan had the Blade before Pattern transitioned to the physical... Interesting idea about Cusicesh and Nightwatcher... Nightwatcher might be the equivalent Cultivation spren - it's still "intelligent" like Stormfather was... and she/it's still assigned things (boons/curses), while Cusicesh does not look like it's doing anything... - maybe Cusicesh was in the physical and lost its mind? Or maybe Cusicesh is something else

* Adolin and Shallan are a great pair, Shallan needs someone who is not broken and who can smile all the time. * I hope Adolin will not "break" after Sadeas's murder. But if he does, and becomes a radiant, he will definitely be a skybreaker - as the WoR quote said, they take justice into their own hands, like he did; Just/Confident - Adolin is very confident, taking on 4 shardbearers, taking on Szeth, taking on Eshonai etc... * If Shallan and Kal do become a thing (pls don't!), finding out he killed Heralan would definetely push Shallan towards the Ghostbloods... or worse * Kaladin might stay away from her because: 1) he knows he killed her brother; 2) looks to me Kal and Adolin are now best buds...

* There are almost no chances of Renarin being bonded to a voidspren, his behaviour is so much like Truthwatchers described in WoR paragraph * I think Bondsmiths are Ishi #10, both surges have to do with building bonds (adhesion is used by winrunners to stick things, tension is "soft axial interconnection"), and pious/guiding looks more like Dalinar (head of Radiants guiding them) than resolute/builder. We are left with #8 resolute/builder with cohesion + transportation and #5 learned/giving with illumination and progression. #5 being a lot of Cultivation (green color also) would make sense to be the order that sees the "future", but since all the other radiants have the same gender as their heralds (even look like them a bit), I would say Truthwatchers are Kak #8. This would mean Renarin has cohesion and transportation. Being able to "see" and having the possibility of instant travel is useful. Also, being able to "see" can be connected to "motion" and "realmatic transition". * Elhokar is still an interesting subject... I would say voidspren cannot bind with humans (like honorspren and cultivationspren cannot bind with parshendi), only influence them (like the Thrill)... and also Elhokar needs to speak truths in order to bind cryptics, which he did not do until the last assasination attempt, when he was drunk... so I still believe he can become a lightweaver... but anything goes...

Really hope is not Shallan the traitor... but don't see who else can be

The 2 bridgemen with Adolin (Skar and Drehy?), being able to survive all places where Adolin when and fought with a set of shards... I think they are squires as well... Lopen is one w/o even taking part in the fight... I'm curious about Hobber, if he gets his legs back

Something that's bothering me (FULL BOOK SPOILERS)
marianmi replied to learhpa's topic in Stormlight Archive
Gavilar - Navani relationship was pretty much over, probably long before the visions. She never mourned him properly... so I don't see why he would have confided in her. Dalinar, he was a drunken warlord. Amaram was the most "honorable" lord around there, so he confided in him. Mt. T is more of the mystery... I am not sure Mr. T was smart then, I think he went to ask for his capacity after talking to Gavilar... -
* Definitely Dalinar's blade was not an honorblade. Since it's weird that Boldin did not notice the different => the blade was switched probably right after Taln passed out, before it got to Boldin... so only Wit could have done that. I'm assuming Wit is picking up the pieces, maybe to recreate the Honor shard? /hopefulthinking * "I will not let myself bond in such a way as to kill me" => Dalinar - Stormfather bond is a bit different - maybe because of this limitation Stormfather will not become a Shard... * Dalinar was infusing before the actual bond, but Kaladin was also infusing before the actual bond; also it looks to me Renarin got his eyesight back before the actual bond... probably he did not spoke the 1st truthwatcher ideal... I think he spoke the general one during the time of the battle, maybe when he cracked and started saying they are all dead? (btw, Renarin can Transport ... how awesome is that?)

Pattern changed into a knife, Jasnah's sword was not huge, but potentially can be. I really hope it's not going to be a love triangle. Looks to me Shallan fits well with Adolin, since he is always making her smile and he's not "broken", like Kaladin is. I also hope Sadeas' murder will not break Adolin. I see him a good Skybreaker - taking justice into his own hands, always confident... but I really hope he does not become one, and instead stays Shallan's anchor to humanity... Favorite moments... when Syl changed shard-shapes, when Dalinar bonded Stormfather, when Adolin used ironstance, when Wit met Shallan...

New information on Shardblade combat (full WoR spoilers)
marianmi replied to Tortellini's topic in Stormlight Archive
* I think they can only appear in the radiant's hand * all of the things above are assumed against a human-like opponent... so a radiant with a shard can easily kill a human or a human with a dead shard, so? he can easily kill one without, look at szeth killing many shardbearers. Since radiants can heal shardblade wounds, probably voidbringers can too. Let's see what the other voidbringers do, stormform is really not a combat form... plus, forms like smokeform are more ... stealth, and there are many ways to kill/destroy a radiant, not just by brute force. I'm curios how the ghostbloods - shallan relationship goes, she's right now the candidate to "destroy the world"... -
[Full Book Spoilers] Venli and the Source of Her Knowledge
marianmi replied to Moogle's topic in Stormlight Archive
* She's not one of the unmade, everything points to the unmade being not that... intelligent, more like... forces/spren. I don't think they bond that easily, if they do bond at all (if stormfather bonded, then they might bond as well). The implication is that, if bonded, they can be killed... * She could very well be influenced by one of the unmade, like humans are influenced by the Thrill, but then she would exhibit a personality change, so this does not fit... * Since she is not exhibiting a personality change, and changed forms, and not being one of the unmade... the only thing that make sense to me is that she's actually in smokeform - another power form, where she can create illusions. The other alternative that would work is that she is bonded to one of the unmade, which means that it can be killed -
We know that there will be a few characters in both arcs... So you think: 1) Second arc is several years after the first one, so we'll see "older" characters from first arc? 2) Second arc is > 100 years after the first one => the only way to have the characters from the first arc is if they become "herald-like", or "shard-like", or use Shadesmar to "travel in time" like Hoid?
-
We've seen only a very small part of surgebinding. You can't say that it's a pretty physical power system. Lightweaving (that Shallan does in the preview) does not look like "physical". I'm sure there are many surges that are not "physical".
-
Stormlight is discussed on the forum. My theory was that it's the power of creation leaked from the spiritual realm into the physical during highstorms. It can only be stored into gemhearts since gemhearts are formed also through a rift between realms (WoB). So neither gems or stormlight are of "physical".

Shallan. Either flashback or going into Shadesmar for the first time (after the incident with Jasnah).

* so Blades are really bad (OMG Adolin! OMG Renarin! OMG Shallan don't summon it!) * Jasnah and Shalland after the "accident" travel incognito, and on the way find themselves a shin servant OR ... Jashadin!
