  1. While I haven't been here a long time I have noticed that some of the topics of conversation get kind of recycled or never dropped. SO I was curious are there discussion you try to actively avoid or feel like there is nothing more to gain from? If so which ones for you and why? For me its probably Adolin Shallan and Kalladins relationship because while there was a lot to talk about and theorize about there isn't enough meat to go any further on it I feel. *Shrug*
  2. I actually posted a similiar topic below, but man so many parts it is hard to choose! I really like the scene where dalinar shows up for renarin. But Teft's addiction scenes are also amazing.
  3. Interesting, it seems to me to allow a sort of Demi-god aspect to the shard where they can perhaps take up another demi vessel to hold a portion of the power. This might allow them to have greater awareness and expanded mind as a group. Like brandon has said the Shards awareness is not infinite but it is Greatly expanded. I'm assuming you may be able to expand it more with some demi-vessels
  4. I'd say it really depended on whatever oath is holding Hoid back. If his oath is he cant do physical harm then I definately think Everything Rshara said is correct. If however he can't hurt any living being we might get into some interesting territory like you were saying
  5. I just spent and hour and a half compiling a post about a theory on reddit only to get downvoted to Braize. Thats really cool! Do you go to the sacred grove a lot?
  6. This is what I was just going to write. I assume that maybe using the correct gemstones makes the transformation easier? I dont know what gemstone shallan had when she talked to stick... But I would assume there still has to be some correlation since gemstones still break from nahel bond soulcasting. Unless... maybe gemstones break from having stormlight drawn out of them over and over again? we havent seen the other radients do it in exorbitant amounts to the same gemstones yet.
  7. Uh oh... now I wont be able to catch up to you in rep my secret has been revealed! Haha.
  8. I can't believe this is still going, I was going to put this is the Shallan and Adolin won't last thread but here is something Brandon just posted that is applicable Most pertinent is this part
  9. i was thinking about this the other day... Growing up with these books I was as excited for the next one to come out as I am for Stormlight Archives now. I devoured them as soon as they came out. I agree with @robardins assessment as far as the books go enjoyment wise. Personally... I would not recommend them. I enjoyed them and there are great moments, But the Overall story feels lackluster to me especially knowing the ending. Now I am not knocking Brandon Sanderson for finishing the books, I am eternally grateful that he gave me a ending when I was afraid I would never get one. But so many things didnt feel right to me at the end it felt... off I dont know how to explain it. It felt too long for what it ended up offering. And maybe its because Mat never did feel exactly the same once Brandon took over (which once again I am not blaming him for) and that was a large reason I read the books. I can't put it into words but I'm glad that I am done and there are things I would rather read and reread.
  10. Just re-reading your post and I like how this would bring a WHOLE new meaning to Rlain being a Bridgeman. More and more because if nothing else Bridge 4 does act as a connection and a glue to bring and keep things together. If Rlain was able to join the remaining Parshendi to the Humans that would be quite the bridge for him to carry.
  11. Agreed!! I really like the contrast that it showed true change in a character. However this is also the reason why I still like and have hope for Moash. He was super focused on making sure that the person who killed his grandparents to pay for his crimes. It caused him to abandon Kaladin and he deeply regrets it and misses Bridge 4. I don't think Moash deserves all the hate that he is getting. P.S. Im really glad there isnt a downvote button cause I'm sure this post would be downvoted to Braize.
  12. Is May a different cameo? As for name both Lyn and May are thoroughly un-Alethi so I wouldnt say one fits better that the other.
  13. Agreed! not to mention we have a THIRD thread that dropped in the last book with Thuud and the other rebels fates being unknown from WoR. I think Brandon really wants us to assume they are dead and I suppose that the only one that could know of their existence at this point is Venli. I'm really starting to think that Rlain did find the survivors through the rhythms or something, but that he is concerned that the humans won't be too thrilled about them since he gets hated looks in the tower. Not to mention Good point! The only think I can figure is it fits in with the way they viewed the Parshmen as invisible... but that does seem like a stretch since he is in warform now Woah... interesting... I am onboard with this especially with the time gap we know that something will have to happen and seeing rlains PoV in the next book for the parts we missed is definately not out of the question. Heck it could be that Rlain and Venli both function as the modern vehicles for Eschonais flashbacks. Super interesting
  14. Hey sharders, I have been thinking about this interaction that happened on reddit and wanted to get your thoughts on it The last time we saw rlain IIRC he was going to try to explain to kaladin what being him felt like and then scene ends. What do you think has happened between then and the end of the book? Do you think Rlain could turn? Do you think maybe he has been busying himself with something else, like maybe the survivors of Neurok? Whats your thoughts?
  15. Agreed! Except instead of dying he gets redeemed and comes back to the light and cries to kaladin and asks for forgiveness... so i guess I actually disagree?
  16. The general idea according to the coppermind wiki is that: So to me it seems like it is just as Brandon would call it hacking a magic system. As calderis pointed out they have a very similar nature since they are of the same shard so the hack is relatively easy. If we assume this WoB that Calderis linked is correct (which I kind of hate to do since it is paraphrased without a recording) Then I think we can assume that we need to establish some sort of connection between breaths and allomancy to get it to work that way because right now I imagine it is like dipping your food in gasoline and eating it. Gasoline powers cars and food powers humans but human digestion does not recognize gasoline in a way that it can use it. I do think you have a really good point though, and it seems obvious to me that there has to be a way to do it since nightblood can eat any investiture they must be able to be transferred to another form. We just need to find a link to connect two magic systems so that it recognizes the breath as a investment type. Maybe since we have trellium it will have something to do with endownmentium? Or perhaps awakening a gem in stormlight then infusing it... not sure. Good theory though!
  17. Wait really? Does someone have a quote for this part? Is he possibly a cognitive shadow that dalinar sees?
  18. Yeah it is pretty freaking hard to read it the new way I feel like when both my hard cover and my audiobook both read it the old way... I mean you think they could at least release an update for the audiobook. I dont care too much honestly cause the old way still felt really windrunner to me because he couldnt let szeth go unless he promised under oath to not attack dalinar or the others.
  19. Oh interesting thanks for explaining Keteks! It kind of reminds me of Chiasmus. Making them seems kind of difficult though, might have to try later.
  20. OP said it best when he said I saw the major plot twists a mile away but the small details of the plot twists made it a really pleasant experience. I especially enjoyed the psychological or perhaps philosophical aspect of the snapshot and whether what you did in there mattered or not. The concept of choice and agency was intriguing too that such a small piece of paper could help him make a different choice.
  21. So I am getting over some sort of flu and I have a wicked headache. But what makes it worse is I'm on day 3 of a diet and Work brought in some delicious looking mexican food!
  22. Least favorite as in meh didnt like him, or least favorite as in "I hate that guy so muchI just wanna..... GRRRRRRR" ?
  23. As I said in my OP But I really don't like like analyzing this from a meta standpoint anyways of whats on brandon's mind because we cant really know. The only thing we can do is look at the characters. One thing that really stuck out to me in this reading of oathbringer is how Shallan wanted to call the wardship over. Remember this is something she worked VERY hard to get and was very persistant and didnt want to screw it up. But, she only wanted it for a reason right? To steal the soulcaster. That reason has long since come and gone, and the benefits of the wardship dont seem to be outweighing the cons in shallans mind especially when it comes to her freedom. Now you may be saying ok MM what does this have to do with her marriage? Originally her becoming causal betrothed to Adolin was for what reason? Love? No she hadn't even met the man yet! It was for protection for her and her family. Now... does shallan need protection for her family anymore? NO "That reason has long since come and gone" and I contend that in the future the benefits of marriage won't seem to be outweighing the cons in shallans mind especially when it comes to her freedom. Right now the only thing that Shallan and Adolin really seem to share is an attraction to one another. Well attraction can, and often does fade over time. This is speculation, but I feel it is quite reasonable speculation given how Shallan doesn't like to be beholden to anybody whether it be the Ghostbloods, Jasnah, Sebarial (when is the last time she balanced his books), and certainly not storming Adolin when it comes to protecting her. Shallan in this book is still trying to figure out what she wants and tries to go with the flow as much as she can until she figures out what that is. In the next book or two we will begin to see what it is she wants for herself... and it might not be Adolin any longer.
  24. I thought it would be fun to post memes of how the shard currently makes you feel here. My reaction when I logged in today
