  1. I am not disagreeing that Venli is an excellent candidate for the title traitor, I was just curious if we know it references her. I mean as you pointed out she has tons of ambition but in this book I would argue she hasn't really been seeking freedom, maybe survival, or answers but not freedom.
  2. Hey Sharders, In the Oathbringer cover synopsis it says: We may soon hold Surges again, for Radiance has returned to some, and shines toward others. The Captain, broken by loss, seeks reconciliation. The Spy, broken by cruelty, seeks completion. The Stonewalker, broken by oaths, seeks truth. The Traitor, broken by ambition, seeks freedom. On the Coppermind Wiki it links the traitor to Venli, Do we have a WoB to support this? Just curious because of all the titles this one seems most open to interpretation. For example I feel like Moash could also easily fit the description too broken by ambition he seeks freedom from his guilt, freedom from responsibility from his actions etc. Thoughts?
  3. Thank you I was starting to wonder if Ookla was some honorary title to earn after being here a while...
  4. Agreed Unity didn't feel great from either perspective
  5. Brandon Sanderson and coding two of my favorite worlds colliding? I feel like some sort of new magic system is going to form from this pairing. I had no idea about PlayonLinux I will have to check it out.
  6. SOrry to be that guy but can someone point me to where I can find more information about these "densities" this is the first time I've heard of any of this
  7. Im wondering if his illumination is much more based in the cognitive realm or thoughts (kind of like emotion allomancy i guess). this allows him to have that gem sight view and would explain the adolin seeing the perfect vision of himself
  8. Hey guys, I know I was supposed to post here first but some Oathbringer discussions really got me going so I jumped right in. I am an avid reader and love most of what Brandon has written. I have also read the WoT, Kingkiller chronicles (or what is out anyways), and many other series and I'm always looking for more. I also love video games and software/web development (that also happens to be my job). And I dont know what else to write so i guess I am done!
  9. This ^^ That scene was so brutal and way surprising to me to watch them kill each other. So much so I was a bit numb when Elhokar bit the bullet. For main characters Eshonai probably surprised me the most just cause it never crossed my mind that she wouldnt survive especially after the Jasnah, szeth whammy last book
  10. Just finished and I just wanted to say I loved this book! Once I get home I will add more to this post. Biggest disappointment: Everstorm destruction reveal. In the last book we heard how much destruction the everstorm was going to cause a ton of destruction because it blew the wrong way. In this book at the beginning it is something more just talked about and not really felt. I suppose I was expecting much more feelings of destruction and death and it just felt glossed over until near the end of the book after the storm hit several times.
  11. Congrats! Also I am so Jealous it just might kill me.
  12. I'm actually not convinced you are wrong still. we know Renarin is a truth watcher renarin could be helping Adolin see what Adolin wants to change into. Shallan is changing people to her perception. A push and a pull per say.
  13. Kind of bummed I wasn't the first to post a topic about this. but hey it means I don't have to do all the typing at least! They were a couple other instances of Shallan transforming people that weren't mentioned that I would like to point out. The biggest one is when Shallan is handing Eylita note to Balat it is mentioned that it seemed to "Glow". Right afterwards the goodness that shallan perceives in Balat takes its first step of coming out, He leaves the Axehound fight and goes to see her. We could also say simliar things might have happened with the other two brothers changes. The other situations are theories Kabsal stands out to me as a possible candidate of being affected by her powers. I need to reread that part but it always seemed off to me that an assassin would change so rapidly. Here is a dark one: I think Shallan might have some to do with Lin Davars personality change. The reason I say this is that in one of the earlier flashbacks when Balat says that father killed her mother Shallan says something along the lines of "No he didn't do it" but then thinks in her head wait did he? After that Shallan doesnt object again when people say that he killed mother, she doesnt want to think about that she killed her, The easiest way for her to not believe that she killed her mom is too believe what everyone else is saying that "Lin devar is a crazed maniac that murdered his wife". Shallan also expects that Lin will try to kill Malise, that he will beat servants, and many other acts of violence that shallan seems to know will happen before he does almost. This is just my theory but I think Lin might have been formed by shallans coping mechanism a bit. I am interested to see if Jasnah might have been affected by the drawing of herself that she kept so I am going to be watching for that. Anyways awesome job with the layout Sorry I didnt get the exact excerpts from the book partts that I talked about. If I am feeling motivated I will get them once i get home.
  14. This death kind of reminds me of jasnah... I hope that she doesnt turn out to be a willshaper and escaped death through the cognitive again.
  15. I am really wondering if shallans synergy of her powers allow her to affect Identity or connection. The way Bluth reacted to her drawing of him and the way she changes her personality and thinking as veil and radiant. really interesting
