  1. So I unfortunately... do not own any ebooks. But I am working on a theory that requires a lot of searching. I was hoping that some people might be able to help me with searching for instances of a word and what they describe either in PM or in this thread. If you are willing to please PM or comment please. Thanks.
  2. nice list of WoBs @The One Who Connects here is another interesting one with cadmium hard to find that one cause the silly british and there aluminium haha (no offense to anyone british)
  3. What about awakening wouldn't that attatch a spirit web?
  4. Ok yeah I agree with you, especially after finding this WoB source So yeah if it peers directly into the spiritual reams then yeah it should work.
  5. I think this is assuming that atium works on susebron. We know that atium works like shardic sight, but everyone we have seen atium used on has been partially created by ruin or has ruin in them. Maybe atium wouldn't work on people that ruin has no investiture in like susebron. You forget that Aluminum is immune to all the magic systems, including Awakening. You are forgetting that aluminum is immune to MOST magic systems, not feruchemy
  6. Yeah I just heard Hours ago, I just think how happy he is to be with his wife again and what a great life he lived :')
  7. gotcha so you are saying for Taln to break, AND for the parshendi to almost be driven to Extinction near the same time seems too much a coincidence basically? Well we know that King T's diagram wanted to push for the extinction of the Parsh, So it certainly seems like Odium was manipulating someone or multiple people (including gavilar would be my guess) for this outcome to happen using his foresight. maybe his foresight let him predict when Taln would break... maybe Taln broke a bit earlier but they didn't act until everything was set like maybe taln doesn't return until the first voidspren does? But yeah it definately seems like it was planned extensively now that you mention it.
  8. Welcome!! and great first post!!! I will admit I'm not super up to date on mistborn stuff (I'm more of a diehard SA guy) so is an aluminum metalmind for identity? If it is maybe aluminum resists effects on the physical realm mainly but it can interact with spiritual or cognitive realms? Not sure though just theorizing good post!
  9. Oh definately I agree with this
  10. Hey guys, There has been a lot of talk of what Oathbringer has done wrong or what differed from what people expected. But Through my second reread I am find SO MANY moments that touched me and were done so right! Let's share what moments or arcs really affected you emotionally or intellectually and keep it postitive! ---- To start with (Thanks DreamStorm) spoilered for length I really loved this scene where Dalinar comes in to the scribe meeting to support Renarin, the way it describes him you can tell it is not comfortable for him to be there but he wants to support his son and be there for him in his desires, I feel that maybe dalinar realizes he wasnt always encouraging of renarins desires and is trying to make up for it and I loved this interaction through Shallan's POV.
  11. I mean I think this comes down to a combination of things. It started with venli and her ambition with the spren, then I imagine she converted all the scholars to the idea, then venli has access to one of the 5 directly through her sister and harrasses her until she takes the form. I think once eschonai took the form asnd people saw her with it on thats when things were most divided as many of the populace saw it as hope but others worried about the red eyes. Finally once eschonai rounded everyone up I think that many went with the flow, very few were willing to actively oppose.
  12. Yeah this is tough... I kind of agree with you because she died off screen basically. However if brandon Did describe her burning and stuff that would be way too much for me I think and kind of distastful/traumatic so yeah there is a bit of a catch 22 there but I know what you mean. To me it was more of a psychological horror imagining what it was like for dalinar and for her to probably hear her husbands voice... then the next second be burning...
  13. I also thought that maybe when taln borke it allowed that spren to come seek out venli. I mean he said something like he was the one to come before the others or something right?
  14. Nice Catch! that is super interesting that Brandon is all but confirming that we havent seen everything yet.
  15. We have also got this WoB that shows how weird it could get
  16. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/87-white-sand-vol1-release-party/#e5773 So we know he at least doesn't have it now maybe he did at one point though...
  17. I'm not sure exactly how future sight works, and how much clarity there is... but from renarin's decriptions probably not. But it would let them get the blade not neccessarily mistake it though I imagine.
  18. I agree it is a bit of a reach... but one thing has been bugging me. Roshar has 3 shards. Two of which were there for super long and invested in planet roshar. Scadrial has 2 shards Roshar has 1, maybe 2, possibly 3 magic systems if you count fabriels Scadrial has 3 I feel like there is some magic systems we are missing on roshar... and one of them might be what stone shamans have access to. We have assumed them to be some sort of religious leaders only but maybe they have a source of power as well. After all Shin is a really different place from teh rest of the world and I bet it is in the cognitive realm too and thus spiritual realm as well. And the fact that divination is in that description... sounds like fortune sight to me which could help get taln's blade
  19. GOTCHA!!! I misunderstood you originally. ok now that you lay it out... hmm it seems like he is almost avoiding the trope that "all men think about is sex" to the opposite extreme. I never noticed that before! I did always infered that dalinars desires (especially blackthorne dalinar) were a bit less about marriage but marriage is the custom kind of like old catholic church. yeah that fourth ideal and now the truth about Helaran has really given her a lot she doesn't want to think about She doesnt even allow her self time to think about it shoving it somewhere else in her psych just like her parents murders. This is why I think Helaran isnt over yet. That and I just noticed on my reread that Shallan starts lying to herself to rationalize things with Jasnah This is where she tells herself that veil is different from her. This is where she accepts the lie. So it seems like its a combination of things that Shallan can't or doesn't want to confront... at least not yet
  20. I'm sure it is listed somewhere but I haven't found the right post yet... how do you join a game?
  21. Hmmm sounds WAAAAAY to boring to me where is the passion, and intensity otherswise? And thanks @Calderis for making my first bit here enjoyable though we sometimes don't agree on some theories I love how your posts are Always well thought out and respectful. I know when I first joined I was afraid people would be like "well duh" or "that's the dumbest thing I have ever heard" But I'm glad its not like that at all. (Or at least most of the time)
  22. Reading the latest comments I was thinking the same thing like... "wait what are we talking about now?" someday I hope people just start a new thread so I can stop seeing this one but I guess I'm not helping either. I think with Adolin though he did this intentionally, it might have been after beta readers went through it but as @Prelude said Oathbringer had a lot of bloat and brandon has always said he wanted his viewpoint characters to be manageable in size and not creep up to un-manageable like WoT, so Adolin got the short end of the stick this round. I bet we will see much more of him next book though. I think this mainly comes from his (and also mine) religious background. It isn't that they are uninterested in sex, it's more that you can infer as little or as much as you want to. Just because it doesn't go into excessive detail (Looking at you "Wise Man's Fear"), doesn't mean that stuff doesn't happen off screen. But hey that's just me, maybe some people want this to turn into Alethi High Epics If you want to you should post your thought here I would be interested in hearing it!
  23. I know who Kylo would vote for
  24. Nice my friends dad is a master falconeer and I always enjoy looking and watching these birds
  25. And sure the force might be able to let you have better reaction time or something but it can't help you better develop a style of dueling I mean there are multiple fighting styles in Star wars just like there is in Stormlight and no one is better than the other they just have better situational uses. In TFA though you can see in this clip that Rey's fighting style is still super unrefined even when she allows the force to help. https://youtu.be/9hkFXWyyvok?t=1m40s There is a lot of jabs and overhand swings leaving herr wide open to attacks. I contribute a lot of her success in beating him to Chewbaccas blaster shot and him losing blood which is why I never minded this. As for Luke he didn't get much lightsaber fighting on screen that's for sure but according to most lore about 5 years passed between the destruction of the 2 death stars and about a year between ESB and RotJ. granted he didn't have a master to teach him most of that time(unless you count a possiblity of Obi-Wan's ghost) but he did have time and experiences with the rebellion to get better, neither of which Rey had between movies. You see I saw this as just a teaser like when the X-wing was at the bottom of Dagobahs swamp I assume it would still work cause those things be like waterproof or something. Hmm interesting, I do like this so have an upvote. Rians view of the force definately seems to vary way differently from the previous movies where dark and light sides of the force were almost 2 different entities trying to draw people from the light side to the dark. It feels like rian went with more of a "the force is grey not good or bad" outlook that some villains blame their actions on in other movies. So I guess the Dark side figured it would draw her over if she really was a nobody then? Don't get me wrong like I said I enjoyed their characters, a lot, but their whole plot in the movie if you removed them from it you don't really lose anything of great worth! it feels like what you would expect from a LotR extended edition of 45 more minutes of flavor but in the end meaningless content to the story. I mean they didnt get the right codecracker, they didn't succeed in stopping the hyperdrive tracker thing. I mean if they just edited a lot of that out It would have made for a much better length movie and they could more fully flesh out those characters in a spin-off where they can get the time they more fully deserve.
