  1. How much does it annoy you guys that the chapters release on Tor about 3 minutes late compared to this?
  2. I read somewhere that that length of time between desolations was exaggerated, isn't stormlight archives about 5-6K years into a 10K year cosmere? 5-6 - 4.5 makes the desolations at most take 1500 years for them all.
  3. @Leyrann Could you link to that L theory? Thanks.
  4. Could it copy effects of malevolent actions? If someone dies do to being pressured to suicide can it then kill someone?
  5. It's been discussed a lot elsewhere (there was an entire thread on it) but the first ideal can be interpreted differently by each order, the skybreakers and elsecallers would both accept an "ends justify means" philosophy while the wind runners would not. Also, only nine orders abandoned their oaths, it's unknown what the tenth order is.
  6. No, it's actually the dead Spren screaming, just normally people can't hear it and it takes a bond to hear it. It's not an "interference" issue, in fact the king currently has two sets of shards, one of which he lends out (mentioned first time Kaladin guards Adolin in the practice area and implied in the 4V3 fight, Dalinar attempts to loan the king's blade while someone is using one they borrowed)
  7. Also on Jasnah, that comment about further proof of heresy doesn't fit very well, what further proof? She openly is known as a self proclaimed heretic who makes those views clear so "more evidence" does not fit at all. Also the line about "smarter then I am" just ruins it, same with the philosopher comment, as really, she is, considering the major focus she puts on it.
  8. If this were true, then why would they need to "Vex odium" and "convince him he can lose" before he agrees? Just offer him the same deal. Also, it's implied that odium will win if he wins the duel and loosing will just cost him time (Think of how WoT ended).
  9. The thing is, the two of them would have been alive at the same time, and probably would have been involved in the same battles, unless the "destruction" of the voidbringers happened over a human lifetime later, in which case, no one noticed that this guy has no family or really close friends or didn't go through the bondsmith path/oaths?
  10. That feels a bit weird to me, she's not legendary so it's fair to say she's good but not supernatural like szeth and her having a shardblade but not her honorblade? Or her just not using her powers? She's so mundane people haven't realized she uses a shardblade so it's unlikely she uses surges to assassinate.
  11. Well, for Jashnah it sort of breaks with the parts about the author being a heretic (yes Jashnah is one but she never refers to it how the author does) as well as the author not being a philosopher and being dumber then the general reader. Dalinar makes a lot of sense for every single bit but the shadesmar and the dying/worse part. Szeth doesn't work well because he DID die. Evi just feels lame and disappointing Shallen is intelligent and religious her distaste for spice messes with that part Kaladin hasn't killed a loved one and isn't being set up to anytime soon. Who am I forgetting? I feel like it is more likly.Dalinar as his issue can be fixed with a near death experience and trip to shadesmar.
  12. An assassin wouldn't even need to kill thier target, just murder a look-alike (yes I know only shallen really knows this)
  13. @OrangeJedi if you want to delete a post just change it to Edit: Post deleted and nothing else (you can do this right? I saw someone else do it)
  14. Well, start an open auction at 5 dollars but make the second highest bid pay to you'll make a TON as two people try to cut thier losses by increasing thier bid
  15. End results of Amaran's plan: 1: kill 90 odd percent of the human population 2: bring back the heralds 3: hope that brings back the dominance of the church 4: hope no one overthrows it again cost-benifit is rather low here even if the believe the ends justify the means...
  16. I find a lot of people on here like WoT (me to!) but I only started being involved with any discussion forums when they started to prerelease these chapters, besides, I read WoT after Brandon finished the series, I found out about it through it being mentioned by family that stopped reading it partway through and saw Brandon mentioning him finishing it.
  17. And, also, why they would have killed a really really important person offscreen.
  18. If it's a Kandra that really really pushes the boundary of stormlight being a standalone series, vasher is fine mostly because he was originally made to be a part of this series and warbreaker is an origin story more or less and everything else is mostly just Easter eggs or Hoid.
  19. My main issues with the theory are these 1: If it wore off because she died then not only was she not dead this whole time but she died offscreen. That is anticlimactic as can be. 2: this would mean that she visited the nightwatcher making him lose his memories of her exactly when he went there. Unless you suggest that he went with her, but that would mean that every single other person presumed her dead for that entire time between her fake death and that point, and not one person saw her during the trip and also not one person recognized her afterwords. 3: there is no precident for the nightwatcher effecting a third party with her boons/curses directly. 4: It makes a darker chapter for Dalinar's backstory if he kills Evi during the events at Rathalas (or she kills herself because of what happened) that Kadash mentions then if he saves her but she rejects him because of his actions as well as setting up better for him being the drinker we see at the prologue feast as opposed to the drinker we see at the flashback feast. Yes all theories have holes in them, but these are massive gaping ones.
  20. This sort of falls apart due to then Dalinar would have three effects upon him, one of which (I think you are suggesting the memory loss) would not fit in, he would distinctly know something was wrong from the timing. Also, there is no precedent whatsoever of the night watcher effecting a third party directly AND Evi would have to not be dead. @Goomblast Good idea, but it doesn't work so well when you consider the fact that for him to be king the entire line of succession would need to die or give up the throne AND he could just choose to not take the throne and give it to whoever is behind him (Adolin at the time). Welcome to (the forum? Posting?) though! These chapters bring out a fair few new people to posting, not including me you are the fourth or fifth I've seen.
  21. To #2, think of the effect it has if it's with a raiding group... Around double the effectiveness of any military group, especially for raiders who take low casualties. Edit: or for assassins who no longer have to kill thier target.
  22. It would be a cool way to make Navani relevant if it's broken or mechanical.
  23. You naturally see the world upside down, a part of your brain flips the image, that could be physical or cognitive or spiritual. Lift is partially in the cognitive, pretty clear what realm that is... Tarvagian is again a brain thing that could plausibly be any of the three. Dalinar's memory could be any of the three and the active effect is most likly C or S. All of them can more or less be cognitive and most of them can be the other two realms.
  24. Or, they trust him after he helped them so much, and he just sent time, not some complex message that could be betraying them because they can't read.
  25. I thought they were bonded to musicspren like the chasmfiends style.
