  1. Tell that to CIA. Or Putin. They can construct cheap houses allowing poor people to afford them and setting them free from loans and obligations towards greedy bank industry. Easy case. Nale allowing and guiding Parshendi how to assassinate Gavilar... Internal CIA special secret agents guidelines or something like that, allowing them to kill people if order was given. Yes, they can do that. Police are to catch people breaking the law, judges are to decide whether a person is guilty or not (Truthwatchers might be a good judges). Skybreakers won't go around town killing criminals, because police aren't executioners, and that's illegal (unlike on Roshar). That's why Skybreakers would be a perfect police force, as none of them would be on a power trip, none of them would try to bend the rules or break them to arrest people, none of them would be biased, none of them would provoke people, none of them would be corrupted. A perfect police force. They don't need to be dedicated to higher-ups, they can swear 3rd oath to follow internal police guidelines, 4th to commit themself to special cause, like drug trafficking, even 5th one doesn't allow them to break the law, but only gives them a free choice to decide what matter is more important than others (perfect for people on higher-up positions, dedicated to a special cause like DEA). Edgedancers would be the worst police that could be, they are not only ok with breaking the law, but they themself are breaking the law to commit morally good actions (like Lift breaking traders cart which send food into the hands of poor, hungry people - morally good, yet highly illegal). Windrunners are the same, they would break the law just to help others - ("Yes, officer, I'm speeding but you see my mother is in hospital and I need to go there" - "ok, so go without the ticket"). In some cases, like in hostage situations, Windrunners would be a better choice. However overall they are soldiers on Roshar, they would exceed as peacekeeping force during wars, force protecting civilians from any harm, not policing force that could be bend by morality. Law is not about good, it's about order. It needs to be about both good/morality and order, but morality should not take precedence over order. A poor person commiting a crime to feed his family should still be convicted - both Edgedancers and Windrunners might let that person go, Skybreakers won't. Yes, my point was it's easy to create a law that will make "unregistered" Surgebinding illegal and punishable according to moral standards. Removal of powers is a great idea, without any need of imprisonment. And that in consequence could monopolize Surgebinding within the country (could, but it doesn't have to be like that, yet I'm afraid it would be like that). Oh immortal. Hmm. Yeah, I think immoral leaders are worse as they don't change and adapt to new society and standards. I agree.
  2. It didn't, Everstorm restored Singers Connection and Identity. Similar thing has to happen with spren - Adolin and Maya are already doing that, Adolin is filling cracks in her soul, restoring her slowly (which is why I believe simply bonding her and becoming an Edgedancer isn't what is happening, as you would need an original knight to reswear Oaths, not somebody else, Adolin and Maya are doing something new, reverse Nahel Bond). The Sibling might get fully restored by the bond with Navani, but they weren't hurt as much as deadeye. You would need to do something on a massive scale - either releasing BAM who would reconnect herself to Roshar, spren and Singers, or a restoration of Honor who with Highstorm could heal them back to their original form. Bondsmithing alone won't help as this is not just Connection but also Identity problem. I don't see any other options. Personally I don't really want all deadeyes to be restored back to their original form. It would be good, but a bit "boring"? What I want is for them to never go fully back, and form a different kind of bond, like Adolin and Maya are doing, a bond where spren are Knights and people are filling the gaps in their souls with themself. Where spren have some new abilities. That would be an interesting change.
  3. It is: "A blind person would indeed sense these things, but not have the vision with the eyes." - It doesn't mean a gold shadow that is also blind, but a blind person won't have his vision restored, won't see with his eyes, no matter what his gold shadow is.
  4. BAM was sapient and was connected to the whole Roshar, Thrill wasn't. It only influenced people's emotions, allowing Voidspren to slip into them. Only Mishram was able to connect with so many at once, Thrill doesn't connect like that. BAM imprisonment ripped off connection and identity from Singers, which prevented them from taking forms. We don't know her origins, before she was unmade. For more I recommend Coppermind: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Ba-Ado-Mishram
  5. The same morals which punish illegal gun owners? They're dangerous and unauthorized - one of them can teleport nukes. Maybe not immediately with death, but imprisonment until they agree to work with you under the law or something like that. Oh, don't worry about this one, there are a lot of immoral leaders on Earth for them to follow.
  6. That is THE connection - they both suffer because of the imprisonment of Ba Ado Mishram, in the same way - it ripped off part of their connection to Roshar. After the imprisonment of BAM the Sibling was wounded, lost her Rhythm of Tower, and was unable to hear pure tone of Honor, but because they was not bonded (their Bondsmith had broken the bond earlier), they didn't turn into a deadeye. As the Sibling said RoW ch 49:
  7. It's not like Radiants need to swear to by loyal or something - just make a law that prevents unauthorized Surgebinding, and send a team of Skybreaker to kill everyone who isn't a part of government/company force, Skybreakers were very good at killing Radiants for decades on Roshar. Each country would want to have their own Radiant teams, and they would mostly align with their countries, not one unified Radiant organization. And yes, Elsecallers in a modern world would be very scary.
  8. Apparently a bit, it made him survive that long to become a Savant. Plus he was stronger and tougher as Koloss-Blooded. We know nothing more. Yes, that's what I meant. For the second time. I really need to edit that post Good point about heat. I don't know about this one. Maybe not physically weaker, but they would get tired faster, and generally feel weaker, rather than be weaker. But it is a possibility worthy of consideration.
  9. I don't understand you here well. Yes, mistings of Atium and Malatium exist, because WoBs confirm it. And Math confirms it - there were 16 different Mistings created by Mists, and only 1/16 of those were Atium Mistings, not 2/16, only 1/16. Electrum Mistings and Atium-Electrum Mistings were different from each other. Those Mistings were specifically created by Preservation, not just by Mists, but making them possible in to be in the first place: Yes, I understand, but disagree, yet understand that it might change in the future. For now however it is confirmed by WoBs that Preservation swapped 2 metals from base 16 in the snapping mechanism, and replaced them with Atium and Malatium. Swap is canon for now. Atium Misting isn't Electrum Misting, as both Bendalloy and Cadmium weren't counted in 16% - that means if Atium Mistings were Electrum Mistings there would be 2% of them, not 1%. And remember, Peter said that the retcon is way older than people assume and already was enforced in HoA (as the table there made destinction between pure Atium and Atium, see WoBs in posts above), HoA already includes the post-retcon version of canon. And yes, this might be changed in the future, particularly with Mistborn movies coming out (it may or may not change book's canon, or only affect movie canon):
  10. The question is: "As I understand Allomancy, he can hear/sense well enough to get around with Tin, plus even though he's blind he can still "see" steel lines (like the inquisitors), and I assume Atium would work the same way- that is, he could still "see" Atium shadows. Please correct me if I'm wrong." - answer: "No, you're right. That works. He'd have to burn metals a LOT though. It might warp him a little. " - not tin savant, Atium savant. The question was about Atium. How would tin savantism help him perceiving Atium shadows? Did you read the question? Q: Blind person burning gold, can he see the world through his gold shadows? A: He can sense but not see, the same way that a blind person's dreams. - I don't know how a blind person dreams, but his mind creates something, some form of images, not accurate images, but something - what I think it means, if a gold shadow wasn't blind, a blind person would "see" a dream-like images, unrecognizable to his mind, giving him almost no accurate information. The question was about a blind person in general - mostly I assume blind from birth, to whom images of a gold shadow vision won't tell him anything, because that person's mind doesn't understand vision. A blinded person, who experienced seeing in his life, would be able to understand to some degree those visions and see through them a bit. There is nothing in that WoB about stabbing out eyes. And because Brandon talks about dreaming, his answer covers a blind person using non-blind gold shadow - because as a blind person he can't experience only seeing through the shadow's eyes, while he can hear, taste, feel and smell through shadow's eyes which doesn't need a dream-like situation.
  11. There is more to it. There are 2 things that make you an Elantrian, first one is the connection to Arelon (to the land, the local area where that particular piece of Dor is located in CR, that's important), second is the transformation itself. You can store that connection, if you already are an Elantrian, and in this case I think you would behave like Elantrains very far away from Arelon, like on Scadrial, still being Elantrians, but unable to draw from Dor (which is what that connection does) - and this will likely kill them, as their Elantrian body needs Dor. Their skin would stop glowing as it runs out of the Dor. Just by Conection? No - as they didn't went through transformation. It would make it easier for them to become Elantrians themself. With a connection medallion you could make it work the other way around - first keep storing the connection, and later when far away from Elantris, tap it and gain the full power of AonDor. But inside Elantris you would barely notice a change, as Elantris itself is a giant Aon amplyfing the power of AonDor in that place, just a little bit of connection form Feruchemy (which carries low investiture compared to Aons) would make no difference. WoBs:
  12. Yes, I was talking only about numbness, sensitivity to touch and pain and whatever senses both pewter and tin enhance together - no stamina boost etc. I agree with fatigue. But on the other hand we have Tarson, who was a pewter savant and didn't seem to have those nasty effects (but we don't know if he was burning pewter constantly, nor we had his PoV).
  13. Oh yeah, good one. I can fully see this one happening. I wouldn't call it a "fun" parallel Now if that's the case, what would happen if you're both tin and pewter savant? Would both of those negative effects negate each other when nothing is burned, and you'll be left with regular human sensitivity (edit: ONLY senses of touch, pain and heat would be negated, other tin savant negatives, like sight or hearing, and pewter savant negatives would still affect them)?
  14. No, shadows are not a sense, it's the "gut feeling" of Fortune but shifted into the extreme. Seeing the future when burning Atium is based on Fortune, not a sense.
  15. Taking into account the full WoB it's still about 2 separate questions - one if a blind person would be able to perceive Atium shadows, the answer is yes but you need to burn a lot of it, the other one is if a blind person would be able to perceive a gold shadow (yes) and by touching them, perceive the world through them, the answer is yes, but it won't bring their sight back, they will sense things in more like a dream state, rather than eyes. It can be handy, but it won't make them see. The same interpretation which I had before full context. Atium shadow and all other shadows are a Fortune thing, not sense things. It's more like you are more in SR, than you see into it, there is no sense to be stored here, because it is Fortune. That's what I think about it I don't think it will work that well, because the kandra after a body swap won't have those sensory organs anymore, and it will just work on a far smaller scale than it does in those animals. You need a sensory apparatus in my opinion. If you don’t have spider’s hair, you won’t get that sense by tapping F-tin even if it was stored when you were a spider. Which I will argue is your body's way to translate spiritual information gained by burning those metals into a physical one - it's still spiritual and Fortune. A fortune alone gives you a "gut feeling" - can this be stored in tin? No, it's Fortune. It's something different - an attribute that you have to sense the SR - but not a sense in F-tin way.
  16. Related to RoW is the revelation that Spren chose to break bonds as well, together with their knights. Now more or less speculations: both knights and spren chose to break the bond, but because Ba Ado Mishram was just captured, ripping of her connection to everyone in Roshar, especially Spren, which hurt them so much that them breaking the bond make Spren unable to remain "alive", turning them into deadeye.
  17. New powers! Human torch who isn't fireproof. Ability to sweat with butter. Gills that allow you to breathe underwater, but you still have normal lungs, which will be filled with water, giving you a constant feeling of drowning, the opposite on the land, you gills, now filled with air, can't breathe giving you constant feeling of drowning. Sticky hands, like Spiderman has, but once something sticks to them, it can't be unstuck. Everyone you touch turns into you. Dolittle - you can talk with animals but can't understand and talk with humans (that's not that bad tbf). You can detect poison but only when it's in your bloodstream. Aquaman but with thalassophobia. Super strength but you don't know how to touch delicately.
  18. Because of the chaotic movement of everything, you just can't do math. You not only need to include those speeds, but also how Sun moves in local region influenced by neighboring stars, how Sun moves up and down the Milky Way disc, how our galaxy moves in relation to Andromeda and 50 dwarf galaxies, how our Local Group moves within the Virgo Supercluster and so on and so on. That's basically impossible to calculate, as everything is moving as well.
  19. I don't think those shadows are senses, rather a peer into the SR, Fortune not senses. You won't be able to store that with Tin. With chromium I don't think you won't store shadows as well, it would just make Atium, electrum, gold and malatium shodows show more of the future if tapped, or when stored show closer future. That's connection, F-duralumin, not a sense. I don't think you want to mix an animal soul with your soul - Chimeras aren't bad enough? It's not a separate sense but rather an enhanced sense, storing hearing while with perfect pitch would make you gain more attributes, and tapping it would give you more. Just like the storing strength of a little boy compared to a strongman. But all invested people have a life sense, not just Nalthinas (in Warbreaker it was said that everyone with Breaths have a bit of Life Sense, but in SA Rysn has Heightening-like effects which are the result of high investiture - that to me suggest that everyone has a life sense, just very, very tiny, gained from their investiture), so all can store it and tap it to the limits of perfect life sense for a short time.
  20. You're partially wrong. Harmony is a whole new Shard. One Shard, not two. But can be perceived as both one new Shard, or two mixed together. But If Sazed died, he would drop Shard Harmony behind. Sazed is Harmony, not Ruin and Preservation. With Harmonium you are again partially wrong (or partially right, as it can be rightfully perceived in both ways). But that's the reason why I think Sazed is doing a "bad" job as a dual Shard holder - he perceives his Shard as both Ruin and Preservation in opposition towards each other, not as a single, unified Shard, like Creation (after all both Ruin and Preservation did Create Scadrial together). I think it's the matter of self-perception that defines Harmony as Harmony, not as something singular. That would be very confusing for readers, and the scale of Cosmere would decrease - they all would be unable to act like Harmony. And what would you call a triple Shard? Quadruple Shard? You're saying it's all balance or imbalance, yet Adonalsium existed, would he also be the ultimate Balance, when Shards didn't even exist back then? Odium was said to be a divine hatred, removed from the god which gave it a context, which suggests to me that he was a singular entity, singular "Shard", rather than all 16 balanced together (plus WoBs say that more Shards could be created or different 16 ones as well). For me the Shattering proves that you can merge Shards together and gain a singular entity, singular Shard, rather than two Shards balancing each other. But you and I both know that the Shattering changed the rules. If different singular Shards could be created during the Shattering, does that mean that Preservation is composed of other smaller Shards, mixed together but not being a single Shard? No, Preservation is a singular Shard. Shards can be split into smaller Shards, which makes them different, but the big Shards are still a singular entity, with one intent, one power, not few balanced together. That's why I think Sazed is doing a bad job. It's also possible, yet highly unlikely, to split Harmony into 2 Shards different from Ruin and Preservation. This very example proves this is wrong, as Devotion and Dominion are mixed together into singular Dor. Sazed chose the name Harmony because it felt right to him - depending on intent and how a Vessel sees both Shards, I see it very possible that somebody could pick up both Ruin and Preservation and become something different than Harmony/Discord - which is confirmed by Brandon.
  21. No idea. We're going back to speculations. If there is a single Highstorm - it might be, rechargeable at the Origin by Stormfather, who alone has full control over Highstorm and can send it even outside of the cycle just because he wanted to do this (WoR ending). He can likely stop Highstorms just like Odium can stop Everstorm, and thus control the cycle. I think it was said that winds in Highstorm reach around 370 mph and Highstorm travels across the Roshar continent at the same time every time (but I can be wrong here). And as a magical storm it can be limited in size and not reach poles at all, while still being a straight line from north to south. And Dawnshards are not likely to be involved - Highstorm predates the Shattering, during which all 4 Dawnshards were used.
  22. What? No way. That's not how it would work. It will still burn you in a speed bubble if the hot air gets to it. There is no redshift/blueshift for electromagnetic radiation, but it still propagate through the bubble, so does a shock wave. At least in a regular time bubble. A time bubble would deflect the path of physical objects like bullets, rain, snow, just like light is bending while passing through glass or water, the same way the pathway of every object (including light) is bending while entering and exiting a time bubble. Time bubbles won't protect you from the environment. I very doubt this. That's not possible, otherwise Wanye would be able to create a healing effect for everyone in the bubble. Unless you're talking about convection - Twinborn getting hotter by tapping his metalminds, which heat ups the air around him and others close to him - that won't work as well in the bubble, as air can move freely in and out of the bubble.
  23. It's still the case. Officially it wasn't Atium but Atium-electrum alloy, and Malatium is Atium-gold alloy. Pure Atium alone is burnable by everyone, but not Atium alloys. And the change was already done before HoA. TLM spoilers:
