  1. Did Szeth ever use it in that way? Did he use it to draw people together? Did he reverse lash weapons out of their hands? I don't remember. And that's why I’m repeatedly pointing out that you can't use Full Lashing on the Seer in melee, or most other situations, other than the one mentioned by Frustration in the beginning. They see the future, they won't get glued to the ground. The end. That's the scenario that Seers can fight against. But tbf, how wide would that perimeter be to prohibit Seers from escaping? 2m? At least. The record for olympic long jump is 7-9 meters depending on sex. Even assuming that Elend's soldiers would be able to jump 5 meters ahead, Windrunners would have to draw at least 6 m thick line of Full Lashing. Even more as Elend can just push them out with steel. And there are 51 Windrunners. How far away from Seers would they have to draw the very thick perimeter, all 51 Windrunners at once, to prevent then from escaping by simply running from the center in between the gaps before Windrunners finish their thick circle? The Olympic record for 100 m is 9.6 seconds for a man, and 10.6 for a woman. Let's assume they can run 100 m in 12 seconds, that means that 51 Windrunners would have to draw a line 6 meters thick, being 628.2 meters long on the inside and 666 meters long on the outside of the circle. Average 647.1 meters long. Each Windrunner would have to draw a 12.7 meter long line, 6 meters thick, that's the area of 67.1 m^2 to be fully covered by "hand-brush" in 12 seconds, before Seers just run in between gaps or jump over. And that still doesn't count for Elend just steel pushing them across, with a single push. I'm starting to get a bit skeptical of this scenario.
  2. Storms bless you! I think in most cases it's best to use aluminum bullets that explode into shrapnels when they hit their target. Then Radiants will have to use Stormlight constantly to heal to be alive, which can't be healed as long as shrapnels are there, draining them fast out of Stormlight. Aluminum can’t be reverse lashed, can’t be destroyed by Division, can’t be Soulcasted and likely won't be affected by Abrasion as well - they just need to hit their target. Plate will be the most difficult part, as breaking through the plate with aluminum bullets might not be the best way to do so. But considering this WoB, Ranette can coat Vindication's bullets in a thin layer of aluminum, to make it immune to Reverse Lashing, yet still have a hard and dense core capable of destroying plate in 1-3 shots. For illusions just use shotgun with pallets.
  3. In Cosmere Atoms are Axi, and like in our world Atoms are partially matter (quarks) and partially energy (forces binding them together), in Cosmere there is likely a spiritual component already, investiture mixed into those axi. Therefore they already partially exist in SR. Some things just don't make sense, F-iron is one of those things, that's it.
  4. Wyndle can just show itself to the bird. And I think he is already doing that, RoW ch 116:
  5. No, that doesn't make sense. With weaker bonds atoms and particles would just fall apart.
  6. Which says nothing about their intelligence. Edit: Quote please. It is said however how Lumaran Aethers are a parasitic strain of Aethers, focusing on spreading out and collecting water. I don't recall them ever mentioning their intelligence.
  7. Where does it say that Lumaran Aethers lack intelligence? What are you talking about?
  8. Felt was with Adolin ans Shallan in Lasting Integrity in RoW. Adding to those above: Of course Nightblood is also on Roshar. He don't have legs but still is sentient! Axindweth, likely a Feruchemist working for Gavilar, who fled Roshar after being compromised before/during Gavilar's assassination. Riino, Elantrain that Raoden put into perpendicularity in Elantris, is now on Roshar, he's a lighthouse keeper near Kholinar in CR. Sixteen, worldhopper in Lasting Integrity, from Scadrial, could be even an Allomancer or Twinborn. TLM: In Warbreaker there was a Terriswoman nurse, caring for Lemex. It is unknown who that was (it might be Aslydin or Axindweth) Aslydin, Demoux partner, is also a Worldhopper, status unknown: Plus the Ire from SH. They also have outposts on several planets in Cosmere including Roshar and Threnody. I think that's mostly it. Is there anybody left besides those that we've mentioned? There is this list of Worldhoppers on Coppermind, be aware of TotES spoilers: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Category:Worldhoppers
  9. Alright, I don't know anymore. I've quickly looked at how Eshonai measured time by the Rhythm of Peace, or how they predict Highstorms by using the Rhythm of Wind, and I see now 2 possible options: Rhythms are not only a connection between a Singer and SR, but Rhythms themself are strongly connected to Roshar (WoB 1 and WoB 2) in that case Rhythms are beating according to Roshar's timeframe, not individual timeframe Individual Singer's connection is more important than Rhythm's connection to Roshar, then Rhythms are beating according to Singer's individual timeframe. In the case of the bubble, if 1st option is true, then the Rhythms will change in speed for the person inside of the bubble. Cadmium bubbles will cause Rhythms to speed up, while bendalloy will slow them down - because even inside of the bubble, the timeframe Rhythms are beating in is the timeframe of the whole Roshar. In this case the Rhythm of Winds will still be able to accurately predict incoming Highstorms, or the Rhythm of Peace will accurately predict time of the day. But if a Singer inside the bubble has a clock, they would notice that the clock is showing a different time than the Rhythm of Peace tells them, because that clock is tied to their perspective, while Rhythms are tied to the whole planet's perspective. A Singer leaving the bubble will hear Rhythms suddenly slow down/speed up, because your timeframe is catching up with Roshar's timeframe, to which Rhythms are beating. Now if the 2nd option is true, then the Rhythm is tied to the Singer's Individual timeframe, and from their perspective, Rhythm's beat will not change at all when leaving the bubble or entering it. Two Singers, one standing inside of Bendalloy bubble, the other outside, will hear Rhythms according to their own timeframe - for every 1 minute that passes for them there is 1 beat. But both of them are experiencing different time and 1 minute for the person outside of the bubble is 10 minutes for the person inside the bubble. The person inside of the bubble would say that 10 minutes have passed for them, because they've heard 10 beats, while the person outside of the bubble, listening to the same Rhythm, would say that only 1 minute has passed, because he heard only 1 beat. Both of them were right, for both of them the same Rhythm was beating according to their individual perception of time. But this is causing the problem - because Rhythms are attuned to individual timeframe, you can no longer accurately predict Highstorms, nor the time of day, and after spending some time in the bubble, that person will hear Rhythms differently than all around him, and instead hearing midnight beats of the Rhythm of Peace, he will hear 7PM beats or something like that. That's why I now think that this is not the case, option 2 is not possible and Rhythms will slow down/speed up in a time bubble, because they are connected to Roshar itself, and are in Roshar's timeframe. The only possible way Rhythms interact with time bubbles is option number 1 - the same two Singers will say that according to the Rhythm of Peace, only 1 minute has passed for both of them and both of them heard only 1 beat, even when one of them was inside of the bubble where he experienced 10 minutes. Every single Singer hears the same beat at the same time, it must be true even when time bubbles are used. That person heard the Rhythm of Peace in a very slowed down version, stretched, to fit 1 minute of song into 10 minutes that he was experiencing. Rhythms will not measure time that each Individual Singer is experiencing, but the time which whole planet Roshar is in. I was wrong previously, Rhythms' speed will change in the time bubble form the perspective of a Singer's inside of the bubble. He will hear Rhythms slowed down in a bendalloy bubble and speed up in cadmium bubble. When leaving or creating the bubble, Rhythms will suddenly catch up. It will be like watching a YT video at 0.25 speed and then just turning it back to 1 speed. That was a very tricky question, it made me think a lot. Well done. Hello, Welcome to the Shard. I hope this response will clear the confusion.
  10. There were 300,000 Koloss there, and only around 200 Seer (IIRC), that's 1500:1. Far more than 1:1. And Seers still fought for a considerable amount of time. So useful, right? I wonder why Windrunners never used Reverse Lashing to disarm their opponents in books. Kaladin wouldn't have to fight them at all. Why? Why non-metal? Windrunners aren't coinshoters. Elend is. Elend would steelpush all of Windrunners weapons, leaving them only with their bare hands. So it's the opposite, Windrunners can't have any metal weapons, which severely limits their arsenal. No spears. Or you can just dodge it... SImply hold the spear in front? Seer can grab it and close in to stab Windrunner outside of the spear's range. And if Windrunner never raises his arm to strike, Seer has much more openings despite RL on the spear. Or the second Seer stabs him in the back. This is turning into what singular moves can both of them do to negate their opponent's singular move, which is stupid, as there are unlimited possibilities. What's the point of discussing how to swing a sword to avoid a spear? There are a multitude of possibilities, it's pointless to argue about that. The gas was written to be on the top of a spear - that's a single person. That's literally the definition of WMD: "a nuclear, biological, or chemical weapon able to cause widespread devastation and loss of life." Per WoB: "Nightblood will be important to the outcome of the battle." - however Nightblood was used during that battle, he significantly contributed to the victory and the results of his usage were horrifying to Vasher. That's my point. Maybe she kept hiding it back in the sheath and drawing it again? Or she already had at least 9th Heightening necessary to create Nightblood, that's 20k Breaths at least. It could last for some time. Not likely it would last the entire battle. There were two main reasons why Vasher did that - first one was the outcome of the battle, second one was Shashara willingness to spread the knowledge of creation type 4 entities. Both were very important. Without the first one, Vasher wouldn't be so terrified about the prospect of sharing the secret. Which is what the WoB said: "It's because of her insistence on using the sword in battle, and on giving away the secret to creating more, that Vasher and she fought."
  11. You can do that, you can use cadmium bubbles to create some form of cryosleep, where the crew experience time far faster than from the outside perspective - but that's not practical in the case of reacting to events happening outside. Let's say humans colonized Proxima Centauri, the closest star system to ours, only 4.25 light years away from us. Something happens there, disaster strikes - they need our immediate help. But before we know that something has happened there, on Earth already 4.25 years have passed when we received the radio signals. We’re sending a spaceship at 99.9999% of the speed of light, surrounded with a cadmium bubble, for the crew only 1 day has passed when they arrive at Proxima Centauri. On both Earth and Proxima Centauri another 4.25 years passed, and since the disaster struck, 8.5 years have passed and everyone is already dead when help arrives. As you can see, the cadmium bubble isn't helping with dynamic storytelling, when you're traveling between different inhabited planets. That's why I said Allomantic FTL will work like Alcubierre Drive. Alcubierre Drive is a device whihc instead of propelling the spacecraft through the spacetime, it moves the spacetime around the spacecraft instead. Put a toy car on a piece of paper and make a dot on it - to make the car reach the dot you can either move the car on the paper, or move the paper under the car, without moving the car itself - Alcubierre Drive does the latter, it is contracting space in front of the spacecraft and expanding space behind it, which creates a space around it known as a warp bubble (coincidence? I don't think so). This bubble would travel through spacetime like a wave on the ocean, carrying the spacecraft with that wave. Because spacetime is massless, physics allows it to be moving faster than the speed of light (it already does that, spacetime is already expanding faster than the speed of light). And you know what? A-bendalloy and A-cadmium already do half of those things. These metals pull and push on the spacetime itself. Now you need to make like a half-bubble, you need to pull on the spacetime in front of your spaceship (cadmium) contracting it, and push on it behind the spaceship expanding the spacetime behind (bendalloy). I think it should be in that combination. Then you need lots of energy to uphold those half-bubbles and move them around, moving the spaceship within them. And here you go, Alcubierre Drive. If you don't understand it, don't worry, I don't understand it either
  12. I mean that Singers won't notice any change in Rhythms, a Singer could go in and out of the bubble and hear no difference in Rhythms speed. The Spiritual Realm has no time, the only time that matters is Singer's timeframe, because that's the part of the connection that they have that will be affected by time change.
  13. Interesting connection. I don't remember that. But keep in mind, the cold climate for Malwish is warm for the Basin. I doubt they will move out South, some of them might travel there. Terris' home should be up north, not south, closer to the north pole, at least that was before Rashek Ascension. Currently there is no hostilities between the Basin and the Enclave, I don't think this will change, as many Terrisan venture into Elendel to live in the city, not in solitude. But if tensions between Malwish and the Basin would rise very high, their pacifist stand might be despised and this might lead to some pressure put upon them, that could force them to relocate, or some persecutions. This might happen. Good catch.
  14. Good question, RAFO. There is nothing on that, but there would be some changes, like with Renarin's Surges. In the case of regular forms (not forms of power that are granted by bonds with Voidspren like Stormspren), like Warform or Nimbleform, they would be very likely able to hear Odium's tones. Singers however don't bond with True Spren like Glys or Syl.
  15. Rhythms are in the Spiritual Realm, which is timeless and spaceless - there would be no change in Rhythms
  16. Give him enough time and he will do that - and rule the kingdom full of ashes and skull, nothing else. WW1 trenches are susceptible to flanking maneuvers. Wherever Fullborn shows up, he will cut deep into enemy's positions, collapsing the whole frontline, outflanking the enemy lines - and Scadrial's army will follow behind him. Trenches will become useless when the enemy is already behind your lines. Tactics of WW1 are just not fitted to fight a Fullborn.
  17. No, because Nightblood would be feeding on your zinc and steel instead.
  18. That Tress art is just beautiful. I love it.
  19. I say if you give enough investiture to pass through that fake soul to make it into a savant, it will work, but that's a lot of investiture. But it's likely as Quantus said.
  20. That's right, most of the mass of a proton and an neutron comes from the energy holding them together, the strong force, it's like 99% of their mass. The interaction of elementary particles, such as electrons and quarks with the Higgs field gives them their mass. But the rest of the proton/neutron's mass comes from energy binding those particles together.
  21. They would be able to do that:
  22. It really depends if Atium's mental powers could help process electrum shadows or are they only working with Atium shadows. It could give you a little edge in normal fights, but because electrum already nullifies Atium, I don't think using both at once would give you an advantage when fighting a Mistborn burning Atium - your electrum shadows would be splitted like Atium shadows - your opponent sees the future, your electrum shadows react to their future move, they change those moves because they react to their shadows, your shadows splits to many more, etc. Just unreadable mess of shadows.
  23. Yyy, no? There Nightblood just eats without control. You can't control him in that state, you just need to provide him investiture. If not given, he will eat your soul instead. There is nothing I can find about Nightblood sucking part of your soul or something like that. I guess that because Nightblood consumes a lot of investiture per second, your soul would be just gone, as it doesn't hold much investiture.
  24. You're saying that they should hire a werewolf hunter? Noted Silver is being used up with every contact with spores, you would need a big bullet or thick dagger, but it will work. Or likely pure aluminum dagger. Or just bind them and don't give them any water. They can touch it but can they see it?
  25. They were, but they've killed a lot of them before and were overwhelmed by their numbers. I agree. You know, there is a simple, basic piece of equipment of every soldier that will protect them - a shield. But they see Windrunner raising their hand and moving it to the place where Seer would be - they can understand that with Atium. Or they see their weapons moving in the place where Seer would be. Easily avoidable. Don't commit to the attack if you see them stabbing you back. The Greek Fire used since 672, from Wikipedia: 1241 Battle of Legnica - Jan Długosz claims that during this battle Mongols used some form of poisonous gas "they were shaking head on a pike which produced some form of gas with a great smell that cause Pules to faint and were unable to fight". 1346 Siege of Caffa - Mongols throwing plague-infected bodies into the city, which started the Black Death in Europe. It states that it was used and it horrified Vasher that he decided to kill his beloved wife. That's enough for me. I was excited, because I have WoK in English, but this page describes Kal waking up after being hung on Highstorm...
