  1. Surprisingly alot in Cosmere. Sanderson has a knack of making you care about character who seem "meh" at first glance. Vivenna Siri Steris Spook Lightsong Taln(biggest example where he from "ok so he's a herald" into "WHAT A stormING GOD" in like 2 lines or something from oathbringer lol)
  2. Stormfather is that you ?
  3. I mean not invested by the Rosharian shards (which possible since they didn't really create Roshar like Ruin/Preservation did with Scadrial just occupied). We could actually probably call all spren adonalsium spren
  4. I like this thread. TFE WoA HoA Warbreaker Alloy of Law SoS BoM WoTK WoR Secret History
  5. Maybe more like splinter like Stormfather or if ever Everstorm was a splinter of Odium ?
  6. Rotspren sounds like somebody Ruin would invest on. Makes me also wonder what spiked people look like in the cognitive realm of Roshar. If dead shardblades are deadeyes. Like what would hemalurgic spikes even represent I think spren of Adonalsium are basically the normal spren not invested by the shards of SA.
  7. Popular theory is that trell is Autonomy which i also subscribe too
  8. I still think love triangle that is done well theoretically possible(i haven't read alot of romance novels or just subplots to encounter one that is good) but i don't even have faith that Sanderson could do it (well i didn't care about Kaladin/Shallan/Adolin nor did i care about the Mistborn love trios). Wish somebody would make one tho or point me to one made well (i know it's seeing some literary work being done well is a subjective thing but i'd like to read something that is generally considered as done well)
  9. This thread reminds me of one scene from Oathbringer when which was basically a common joke about the Stormfather and i can't believe Sanderson actually did it.
  10. Omnidirectional steelpush probably only works with uhm people with metal. You might need TLR levels of steelpushing to actually affect people. But omnidirectional steelpushing inside a metal object basically a grenade
  11. Personally i have no strong like or dislike over the love triangle of Shallan-Kaladin-Adolin. It simply was there and i was just glad Sanderson didn't turn it into a fullblown annoying lovetriangle that i often read from paranormal/urban/romance/erotica/teen novels. I'm completely indifferent with their matter. Admittedly tho the way it was written the Kaladin-Shallan thing felt really temporary at least for Kaladin annnd i am not impressed with Shallan's character so i didn't really have strong feelings either way she ends up with. While Romance is indeed a part of natural life and is a powerful tool for storytelling it does not mean it's completely necessary. If we learned anything from Stormlight Archives is that Syl basically does the job of romantic partner ALOT better than actual romantic partners from other novels without actually being one(Syl-Kaladin is the like one of the most intimate relationship i've read). And that's one example then we also have from Warbreaker and Dalinar/Navani who basically doesn't need to exist but actually compliments the characters really well. I have read fantasy novel series but i've also encountered series and books who truly never felt they needed the romantic spark like Travelers Gate Trilogy or Malazan but still did well by themselves regardless. Some romances can be complimentary(this are the great ones who are not exactly pivotal or too important) but some if not written well can also be detrimental to the overall quality. I guess what i have to say is that i agree that romance can be great but is not necessary all the time but even when unnecessary it can be complimentary to the story if it is done right. So yeah like the Jasnah/Kaladin shipping regardless if it happens or not i only care about it Sanderson writting it well(so if it happens like after 7 books of buildup it's fine so long as it's done well).
  12. Wouldn't that become a Shardbeaver
  13. Granted but suddenly for some unknowable reason the entire Roshar band together and made it first priority to stop the polyamourous relationship that the 3 has with any means necessary too. Even Odium and Cultivation raised a ceasefire just for this reason I wish Vasher and Vivenna will meet up again, get married and leave their current location to live happily ever after
  14. Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Taln Next is probably Ash/Jasnah/Szeth they seem to answer alot of specific questions we will have. Also we finally understand why Szeth is Crazy face
  15. I suspect this Yeah Sanderson has been notably kinda dissuading that "anti-Adonalsium" or DarkOne WoT style antagonist which probably means that's not it. I don't think Sanderson normally dissuades theories as many WoB i've read from him so far. It's also really disappointing if it was aside from being predictable it is also extremely susceptible to the "power scaling problem" that alot of fictional stories suffer(commonly action shounen mangas, superhero comic books and even other fantasy novels suffer from this).
  16. I think worldhoppers like Vasher, Hoid, Kelsier and Khriss(especially her considering she's basically a researcher/academic of Cosmere) are an exception to those who know too much but the rest probably don't know that much as we would think.
  17. He was extremely uncomfortable with being near the the Odium splinter that causes thrill. That was kinda the reason he didn't dive deeper that part. And Szeth is kinda crazy and less intuitive he even asks Nightblood if he should save people since he's Radiant now. You kinda just do it normally without asking if you could. Doubt Szeth is scared of NIghtbloods power he's not the type who contemplates about how powerful or the tools he uses. He just uses them If i'm being honest when i first saw this thread i was thinking Szeth literally throwing nightblood like a missile then let it do it's own work(through tempting people to kill themselves) lol
  18. Interesting theory but also good to know that vessel picking isn't random Though this can also be read as the forces themselves when picking up somebody doesn't really take random people (so kinda like how the new Ruin holder has a very accepting view of the concept of change/death) Anyways about Ati being a "kind and generous person" i still think in his point of view he is still doing the right thing. He is still who he is but the Ruin's intent twisted his intent so hard that he believes that he is doing people a favor by their destruction and ending them. He's personality still the same at it's core just twisted by the concept of entropy where he no longer believes death/destruction is bad. Which brings us to Rayse who basically seems to choose who he is which probably means the Shard doesn't need to bend him much to his intent and they're both complimentary to each other(Shard and Vessel).
  19. Maybe not a soft spot but it's common reaction on how Sanderson managed to flesh out Rashek from a simple evil overlord to an ultimate utilitarianist for the greater good. What did you think about about the ending of Mistborn ? Btw welcome to the shard !
  20. I think the "warrior minded" is like how the person thinks, how aggressive he is, how willing he is in a confrontation. Kinda like the difference between Dalinar and Elend in combat, i mean both can fight but only Dalinar is truly a warrior at heart (not in skill basis but how much he is willing to fight and bite). Kinda like how more attuned a prisoner is to confrontation than a normal person. Sazed CAN fight but is it his common method of resolving conflicts ? Isn't it communication ? Isn't he normally diplomatic and would resolve conflicts rather than fight like Kelsier would ? Rayse must truly be much more conflict-driven and really smart before he even held a shard. Meanwhile Sazed is basically a priest or just general servant who basically got the strongest power in the entire cosmere.
  21. This is exactly what i wanted to see if what if the spren trapped in the gemheart wasn't a voidspren but a radiant spren(a willing one obviously a bonded radiant spren) just to see what form it produces. And what abilities it incorporates aside from the standard abilities that spren order gives
  22. I was contemplating on wearing a single earring (sort of fashion thing here) cause i am to attend a graduation celebration of a friend of mine and i literally thought "what would Ruin say to me today".
  23. I know that Ati as Ruin is a horrible horrible person but if you think about he seems to perceive as he is doing everybody a favor and helping them through their end. It seems like he truly hasn't changed in his core. He just thinks destruction and the end of all things are helpful. As Rayse i was think along the lines of Rayse is similar to Kelsier like poster above said. Kelsier is awesome but is he really a nice kind person ? No, he's extremely manipulative and will trample other people to gain his goals. Like the Lord Ruler, he is also at core a person who enjoys power and wants power who is willing to do things that can be perceived as cruel, destructive or not right despite both of them actually doing things for the greater good(honorable goal) So he might be one of those really interesting and manipulative character like Kelsier who tags along with Hoid. Man can't Dragonsteel come faster. Looks like Sanderson needs to create more persona or spike more writing speed or create more bots whatever he does to achieve the speed of writing he has.
  24. Oh interesting but i'd agree to the NO as well. Apart from the current Ruin can easily intervene with this and Marsh being the most Ruin-connected entity which makes him one thought away from total control(he's done this in era 1).
  25. I am convinced that "shallan is more dangerous than Kaladin" has more to do with Kaladin's incapacity to do anything outside upfront combat. While Shallan has no qualms being a sneaky bastard and quite close to Jasnah with how flexible she can be. Kinda like how you would say Kaladin is more powerful in combat than Amaram but Amaram is definitely more dangerous than him. Oh the LAZERS from lightweaving needs Shardic leves of investures so that's probably not feasible. Shardic levels of investure sounds so much and with probably that much investure using Division probably can already erupt an entire planet while Lightweaving will just create lazers that isn't as destructive. I think that's just completely inefficient
