I don't think Rayse was supposed to be at the Shattering
goody153 replied to Invocation's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I can already imagine a bunch of shards or older cosmere worldhopper already regretting the entire thing of letting Rayse in. -
@Matias We usually get it from here. https://wob.coppermind.net/ Make yourself happy(literally you'll spend hours there)

What would happen if you tell Nightblood he's evil?
goody153 replied to Leyrann's topic in Warbreaker
I think Vivenna already told or indirectly let Nightblood know he was evil. He didn't react negatively, he wasn't even hurt when Vivenna didn't seem to like him but the blade likes her. -
So i'm now confused how Nightblood is much more destructive. Simply the scale of it's destructiveness ?

[OB] Love Triangle Revisited (poll included)
goody153 replied to The Harlem Worldhoppers's topic in Stormlight Archive
Pls no let the love triangle be over. It wasn't working out that well and there's no need to expand the nature of that situation anymore. Besides let Kaladin have other people. Potentially open for new ships -
Yeah shardbalde hits the physical and spiritual only afaik(physical only after there is nothing to hit in the spiritual). Nightblood sounds really scary to handle now that i think about it. Unlike living shardblades it doesn't really have control over it's form so if you aren't particularly good at the blade what if you ended up hitting yourself with Nightblood himself aren't you screwed ? Unlike living shardblades who probably dismiss themselves before hitting their own Radiant or even if it happens you just heal it anyways.

What i mean when Mat and Perrin did not have the same set of problems that Rand was experiencing. Was that Mat was basically the classic suave hero who adventure and Perrin was just the classic reluctant chivalristic protagonist who just wants to live a normal life. Both we have seen before(i still like both well maybe not the later perrin). Neither truly had Rand's job that was "heavy to the heart" . I know they're different character who have different culmination but Rand's entire journey was really unique(can't explain more cause spoilers) Mat's story takes off a little later but he starts to do Mat things at the same time Rand was doing Rand things. So it's already fun to read about him. You'll find around book 4 or 5 regarding Perrin really really fun that's where his part takes off afaik.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
goody153 replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted however a new battleroyal game rises from it's ashes and is basically a just another version of Fortnite with a more horrible name also much more accessible(multiple platform). Making it the most popular game in the world by far with people ending up talking about it all the time. I wish to be a shard that has a unique intent that isn't smallscale. -
@recneps Autonomy could be attacking because of greed or she's seeing a threat. If anything Odium is a good example of somebody who's hunting shards even if his intent wasn't really opposed. It doesn't even need to be about Autonomy's intent why she's attacking Harmony's domain. Just think about it so far as we've seen there are only 3 shards so far who's alive and who seem to actively pushing in the direction of influencing Cosmere in the future. Harmony, Odium and Autonomy. Harmony is literally prepping the scadrian for spacefaring. Him pushing them for spacefaring sounds like he really wants the Scadrials influencing cosmere and indirectly that means it also spreads Harmony's influence himself even if that's not really his main goal. Odium wants him to be the only influence in Cosmere by basically murdering his rivals and him killing the other shards has nothing to do with his intent at all. And Autonomy herself is creating avatars and having planets after planets under her belt which sounds like building an intergalatic cosmere empire to me. Since currently Odium is basically out of the game by being stuck in Roshar(even Autonomy in the letters say he's done-zo and doesn't care about him or his prison) means Harmony is the more obvious rival for power. It sounds like Autonomy really just wanted to eliminate her competition. Remember that the vessels are still people they may embody their intents but that doesn't mean they can't be ambitious and greedy for power as well. Odium is a clear example of somebody who's going around murdering shards has more to do with his greed for power rather than his very own intent. Not entirely sure if you attack the planet that you actually harm the shards that created the planet. Remember that the planet and it's people still literally has a part Ruin in all of them but Ruin was actually wrecking the planet and slowly killing all people. He was gonna destroy Scadrial if he won and that didn't seem to deter his survival. As he still wanted to spread "his love" all over Cosmere if he won in Mistborn Trilogy. More like it's attacking Harmony's amount of influence or control over things which we know can be detrimental for Shards(since if somebody is opposing them they need pawns to move their plans). Aside from it's bad for Harmony's mental health since he sees the people of Scadrial as his children and himself as their caretaker.

Yep this exactly. This is what makes the Shards of cosmere really unique. Every intent that the shards have can be translated into bad or good depending on the translation of the person. It's all in the matter of perception. That even Ruin isn't bad since change/death is just a natural thing. Preservation can't always be good as well as an example since never changing state can terrible at times. All the shards can be bad or good. If there was a BIGBAD then it just undermines the theme so far in every concept he explored in cosmere(for example Mistborn with the concept of religious influence where it can be good or bad). Cosmere don't need a "ultimate antagonist" just for the sake of a "greatest scale enemy" . In fact that can actually be detrimental since a secret greater enemy when everything is establish just ends up with a "power escalation problem". Just notice on movies, anime/manga's(especially this one), comic stories(it's common here as well) and others on how common the power escalation problem is. Basically it's just about a none-stop powerup that ends up undermining everything that the story has carefully setup about. Usually it just becomes ridiculous and particularly bad(Bleach and DragonBall are big examples of how bad a neverending escalation can be) You could say that epic fantasy's are different but i say otherwise. Alot have fallen for the escalation problem in all kinds of story telling medium and i doubt Sanderson isn't susceptible on it as well. Greater strength/scale enemy doesn't always necessarily mean "better enemy" for the story. Even i don't have confidence Sanderson could pull of a greater scale villain well in the current Cosmere.

So i assume you just get closer to ascension if you used duralumin. Answer to question #1

Cosmere: Siri-Susebron romance from Warbreaker is the only romance that Sanderson wrote that i *really* liked. All the other romance just ranged from so-so, indifferent and whatever I don't think Hoid is that important in the grand scheme of things. I see him as an observer that is meant for us to see the important event or narrate it to us or pinpoint it to us, Odium is overrated and kinda overhyped after reading Oathbringer. He basically turned from a really menacing villain(with so much cosmere and Sanderson hyped behind him) to just a average dark lord in the book. Ruin was so MUCH better but i really hope this changes in the future. I don't want another disappointing villain. Ambition could've potentially been a really really good main villain on Cosmere scale. I don't think Endowment is as innocent and none-interventiony as people would assume. I don't want the reformation of Adonalsium endgame plot for cosmere. I think it's bad, cannot be executed well and really predictable None-Cosmere : In WoT i really thought that Egwene and Perrin could've been a thing (there time with the thinkers). And SHOUL'VE been a thing. I disliked their canon pairs. In WoT i really wished that Nynaeve and Rand later became their canon pair. Or Rand and Moiraine alternatively. The Revenge of the Sith is my favorite starwars movie by far. It has the most lightsaber combat(it has master Sith vs master Jedi fight) and it has the best storyline. I thought the starwars sequels was pretty disappointing and i don't even consider them as canon in my head. I thought the conclusion movie of Harry Potter was pretty weak(i haven't read the books just seen the movies). Voldemort is a disappointing foe and i didn't understand how Harry matched up to him. For some reason i fall asleep everytime i rewatch LOTR films. I think the films have too much dragging parts but the actiony parts was still cool tho Malazan is good but not that good that people praise it for. Avengers 3 could've been a really really cool movie if otherwise it's still good enough. Still one of the few movies that fulfilled the hype of the villain tho(Odium take notes now) The Last of Us was something special. I don't think the sequel or anything in the future will ever compete with it or grant the same level of satisfaction. The Avengers 2 main villain in concept should've given the heroes a really really hard time. I liked hunger games(the books at least) but i could not care less about the rest that is similar to it like Divergent or Battle Royal. I SUPER dislike the representation of elves in most form of fiction. The one very similar to Tolkien where they are wise, gentle, whatever where they're better than everybody at everything and only pride is their downfall. Yeah i hate those elves. I always liked all races having cons not just all pros. None-fiction and More IRL: I prefer salty-bitter food over sweets most of the time even when i have access to tons of sweets. I avoid watching the news. It just sometimes breaks my heart and makes me lose more hope about humanity.

That was my suspicion that Sadeas is somehow behind it during the flashback part but however we also have a word that Sadeas truly believed in Gavilar's leadership and that time he may have not seen Dalinar as a threat to the throne or himself.

oathbringer [OB] Why hasn't Cultivation helped at all?
goody153 replied to braxton91's question in Cosmere Q&A
It's pretty safe to assume that Cultivation has a hand on Taravangian and the Diagram however remember when Ruin said sometimes he could not resist helping even if it was his enemy if it embraced his nature. Well I wouldn't assume that everything Cultivation influences has a purpose that helps her agenda. Sometimes it could just be about her intent. Odium is probably the same but we haven't seen evidence of that. -
Reluctant protagonists becomes really annoying after a few more series seeing them. Then it becomes funny afterwards lol Don't worry reading books is not a race, it's about enjoyment. And you can always read more
-
That's not actually uncommon. And that's the usual "struggle". You haven't actually read his "real struggles" yet. You're gonna find out around book 6 and it escalates until the last final books. Well have fun reading ! Remember that WoT is one of the most frustrating fantasy series to read. There are times where i just wanted to pull my own braid if ever i had one (which i don't) lol
-
Sanderson's favorite is Perrin i believe so you're not alone. Rand is personally my favorite because his entire struggle(i never get to read something like his struggle in fantasy despite that it should be common) Mat doesn't have Rand's and Perrin's problems which is why he's the hot stuff. Sorry if can only talk in really vague words since i do not wanna spoil you lol Yeah there's not much Perrin so far. You should be getting to his focus around book 4 or 5. And it's pretty great too

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
goody153 replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
GRANTED however you are only Nightwatcher by title and uhm form. You literally just watch the night, can't move, can't sleep, can't do anything except watch the night. Literally Nightwatcher. And the original nightwatcher gets to keep her powers and responsibilities. I wish to become a vessel of a shard with a unique intent. -
oathbringer [OB] Why hasn't Cultivation helped at all?
goody153 replied to braxton91's question in Cosmere Q&A
Since Odium hasn't splintered her that means she can fight back for sure. Well here's a bunch of WoB's about this. At least the closest i could find -
oathbringer [OB] Why hasn't Cultivation helped at all?
goody153 replied to braxton91's question in Cosmere Q&A
Yeah that's why it's just a tinfoil hat theory and considering how Sanderson writes his romantic couples i doubt this will happen. But also brings the question is that what kind of person "Slammer" is and how much did the Cultivation intent already shape her thoughts/will/motives ? That if a kind-hearted/caring vessel from the mistborn series got twisted by his intent so much that he became a literal Dark Lord hellbent on destroying everything(admittedly the intent of change/death can easily be translated for destruction so touche) Is she pragmatic/ruthless or is she the classical person who wouldn't go too far ? How much does "romantic love" really matter to a vessel who held the Shard of Adonalsium for far too long ? Is she the type of person who puts love first or duty ? Does she consider her role as a vessel a duty? Does her responsibilities as a shard outweigh everything in her life ? We know nothing about her so we can't be really exactly certain. -
oathbringer [OB] Why hasn't Cultivation helped at all?
goody153 replied to braxton91's question in Cosmere Q&A
Yeah i had the same impression. It's possible that Odium might've targeted Roshar because of the vessels rather than their intent. I also have a tinfoil hat theory(it's a bit common) that Cultivation might've intentionally let Honor fall or indirectly helped Odium to get out of the stalemate. And then end up in the situation where it benefits her grand plans as a shard. -
Exactly. You'll find out why he's usually the least favorite of the trio but in the midseries you'll love him tho. In the later parts you'll just wish he daed

I actually found the first 2 books as the weakest part of WoT. It picked up around 3-6 but books 7 up just changed pace and tone so much. It was like a different series The slog books was actually the one that was the most interesting, it was the peak of the political shinanegans/manipulation in WoT. It was only a slog because of perrin, there was too much perrin on those parts in a glacial pacing that i just hated him.
-
Huh so you CAN heal the beheading. Apparently the beheading rumor about Lord Ruler wasn't actually rumor but a real thing. Good to know I thought that getting beheaded prevents you from healing.

Odium isn't just about hate why he's killing the other shards. It's simply a matter of a person trying to climb to absolute power through eliminating his competition. Odium is killing other shards and finding excuses to kill other shard. It's just greed for power. Not really about intent just more about the person being power-crazed. Ati and Sazed are quite different apparently. Ati was channeling the intent into less destructive paths(so that implies that Ati doesn't actually accept Ruin or the concept itself disturbs him) meanwhile the reason why Sazed completely matched with Ruin as he did with Preservation. Was all the prepping work in order for him to have a mindset that he sees change and death as a natural thing. Change and death is the nature of Ruin so he doesn't actually see Ruin as a bad thing. Also half of his intent is still preservation. So it helps and he's not even trying to fight either intent. He sees both as necessary, both survival and death of things. So the big catch is that he will think that some things have to stay and some things have to pass. So he's not longer just about death only or the state of neverchanging. I think Ruin's influence is already on Sazed even on the Hero of Ages epigraphs where he was already rationalizing the intent even when Ati held it. And he already says "the potential for murder" is necessary around SoS. He is even already influenced by Preservation's intent as he is saying the same things in SoS that Vin had experience during her time as Preservation(the pain that she felt when people passed). Also apparently is tailor-fit for the task of holding opposed intent shards which is why he can operate with his personality intact. Similar to Odium matching really well with the intent of his shard. Like both person must not be able to tell whether it was their intent or their own personality who made an action because of how on the same page they are with their intents. On a side note it must be really weird for Sazed to contemplate upon things he learned by being the holder of both Preservation and Ruin. Since he could see the actions done(basically a log of history of how the power was used) from the shards he held, he'd see how the previous vessels of both shards plotted/fought against each other for eons. It must be like watching a match in the perspective of the two teams when he's also a player on both sides of the team lol
