  1. Sounds like a good time for you to expand your horizon and read stuff that has an incredibly different tone than Sanderson's books like Malazan(highly well-regarded series and considered by many as the best fantasy series that is written so far) it's a pretty great series. If you wanted to just read something similar to Sanderson then Travelers Gate Trilogy by Will Wight. It has well defined magic system and the fight sequence are just as good as Mistborn/Stormlight(that includes the extremely movement oriented fight sequences. Another Similar series is Wheel of Time as that series is a big inspiration for Sanderson(Sanderson is a big fan) and as a bonus he finished that series due to the untimely death of the author. If you want the best detailed characterization like ever in fantasy then Farseer or Soldiers Son by Robin Hobb. If you feel like experimenting and you are ok with reading SCIFI then: Brave New World (it's a dystopean/utopian story where humanity has settled with pre-determined role. Doesn't contain any action but quite thoughtprovoking) Hyperion (stories about travelers on their way to a temple of a cosmic entity. It has a very broad scope of topics it explores from evolution of AI to cultures of humanity to as simple as marital bliss ) Blindsight (an extremely uncomfortable solution to the Fermi Paradox) Others may have other scifi suggestions but that's all i could really recommend as of the moment.
  2. Definitely the finale. The on his arms realization by our HoA
  3. Romantic: Susebron and Siri (considering their beginning and the preconceptions they both had. It's the most natural romantic relationship that i believe our Cosmere overlord created. It's too close to how men and women on their puberty function when spending too much time together) None-Romatic: Syl and Kaladin Not exactly a friendly but still relationship regardless: Vin and Ruin (pre-ascension and post-ascension it's weird how casually communicative with each other like they're not each others biggest problem) Favorite: Syl and Kaladin (apparently you don't have to have a romantic relationship to have a deep, meaningful and intimate relationship .. i even found their relationship better than other actual romantic relationship from other books)
  4. That makes sense but from her words she just seems legitimately not worried about the threats of Rayse and i'm she probably has an idea of her other peers getting murdered. I mean i know that Vasher was there to turn stormlight as an alternate for breaths but i wonder if Edgli did orchestrate the events leading Vasher ending up in Roshar(i know that shards can be pretty storming subtle even with little freedom judging from the events during mistborn trilogy) and we know that divine breaths are her splinter, right? Is it possible that she can at least gather information through Vasher's divine breath kinda. Or even better Nightblood is basically a giant splinter of endowment And oh boy Vasher picked the worst time to pick a place for retirement. It's kinda like an action-movie plot lmao
  5. That is a tad disappointing that Endowment isn't interested in the affairs outside Nalthais. Though it seems like she's probably using Vasher just to keep tabs of whatever was going on Roshar. So that was Endowment. I was having a difficult time figuring out which shard was talking in the 2nd half epigraphs of Oathbringer. (Still haven't finished Oathbringer so no spoilers pls) Again disappointing that she doesn't seem to be involved when her Shard might be the one with the most freedom. Interesting that she seems confident that she could take care of Rayse when Rayse himself already has multiple shard heads on his belt and the situation in Roshar is pretty gnarly considering that it was 2v1 and he still seemed to be winning even killing one. Vasher is probably just there for her to spy on Roshar. Or she doesn't really care about why Vasher was there Thanks for the replies !
  6. We know that the shards that even those who are mostly self-involved(Harmony) have some knowledge or aren't completely blind to what's happening around other systems especially Roshar(it seems that everybody knows the chaotic situation there). We know that Autonomy has seemingly been spreading her influence everywhere, Cultivation/Odium stuck with each other, Harmony and Endowment doing their own thing on their own world while the others being dead or we don't even know the other shards or where they are ATM. The other shards also have their own side business aside the worlds they occupy, all but endowment. Any WoB or any information regarding what she's been upto apart from managing her own world ? She has a very interesting shard and she actually seemed generally nice for a shard but we have so little information of her or even her shard. Conceptually her shard should as interesting as Autonomy and just as flexible but we have nothing about her.
  7. Afaik pewter merely delays exhaustion though. And something about them burning all their metal reserves before sleeping so that they don't get poisoned so the moment they dropped pewter the physical exhaustion takes full effect.
  8. I liked different things from original trilogy's Vin+Elend and sequels WaxnWayne.(the original trilogy had more serious vibes for me while the wax&wayne was more adventury and detectivey) Though i do prefer the original trilogy pair mostly because i liked the trilogy more but i found Wax and Wayne ALOT funnier. I knew that Vin era wasn't entirely medieval-ish (for having canning system and watches) but i didn't know that contraceptives existed during those times. I just assumed that Vin and Elend never had children due to probably them not having a very frequent sexlife(You know both of them being Mistborn and Ruler as well as them i assume being deadtired most of the time if their sexual intercourse happen before bedtime) and also the stress from pushing their physical capacity(especially Vin with combat and having more Mistborn time than Elend) and just mental stress in general with keeping the kingdom intact.
  9. (kinda relevant WoB) i thought Odium isn't on Braize because he has no choice but rather he's just there out of choice (he could still influence Roshar fine regardless anyways judging from the look of things) The screaming could possibly be only exclusive to Eshonai since she's wielding a shardblade(obviously made of Honor/cultivation spren) since we haven't seen other Parshendi POV yet apart from her.
  10. You should probably finish the book first .HoA is very spoiler sensitive. One spoiler line could ruin the entire experience for you and you risk being spoiled when you open the forums since some of the information from the trilogy are casually thrown around.
  11. I agree that Kaladin's newer oaths might be about leading people and maybe sharing/taking responsibilities and all that jazz.
  12. That's quite alright we all have our quirks to story mediums. I mean i once dropped a show that has a medieval setting when throughout the start it didn't show any magic then suddenly magic happened and i was so disappointed lol
  13. Well whatever that's your choice. I'm not really mocking you or anything don't get me wrong Maxal. I'm just stating my advice since i've read book series like the two i've just mentioned (A Song of Ice and Fire aka Game of Thrones series and the Malazan Book of the Fallen Series) inwhich if i got attached to some characters since they contained some of the most fleshed out characters, i wouldn't have read continually and experience it's greatness. Which is what i'm trying to say to you. Stormlight is pretty well done , it has lots of well-thought out events/content and it's complex . It would be a shame if you missed alot of it because you got hung up by 1 character. In my experience honestly the best book series i've read are those who aren't character driven but more story driven type who care little for pov consistency and more like jumps around all over different people painting a whole amazing picture of the world they live in. You don't even have to write fanfic. I mean just imagine stuff like an example would be that i hated how Naruto(it's an anime) manga went at the last arc so in my mind i made up another version of naruto in my mind how things should've went. Of course if i talk to other people i talk about the canon version but it makes me feel better that i have another version in my mind.
  14. I think humans have parts of honor(like Syl mentioned once) and/or cultivation if they are not created by both shards. Like in Mistborn case
  15. You could just write a fanfiction of SA with him on if you are disappointed, you can't really change the mind of the author. He was a strong supporting character but the story was not really about about him nor does the main overarching plot seem to revolve around him so we can't do anything about it. Honestly he's a good character but not even one of the greatest characters i've read to warrant as much love as you do(it's a subjective so w/e). I bet there's a big chance he'd even die later(i feel like he's one of the characters that can be used to inflict sadness through the readers that isn't exactly expendable but seem important enough) Some of the best stuff i've read like ASOIF as an example was a result of me not dropping just because the character that i liked the most didn't have a reappearance(aka died). Another example would be Malazan. If would've dropped Malazan series after reading book 2(if you don't mind malazan spoilers ahead) then i wouldn't have read book 3 which i loved despite losing the character that i was drawn so much to. I only find it that losing focus or a interesting character dying would be terrible if the story was character-driven or that was the actual protagonist and the whole point of the story. Not the other way around where there's a overarching plot and there's lots of characters which is the case of stormlight archives IMO.
  16. Yeah no matter how exciting Adolin is, the story doesn't revolve around him. Though i can understand that Adolin not having much POV or involvement is disappointing but saying that book 3(or further) is impossible to enjoy without his major involvement is like saying that Mistborn trilogy is dumpster tier after Kelsier was gone and i liked Kelsier alot but i don't he's the major contributing factor why Mistborn is great. Same for Adolin reading his involvement and his POV sure was fun but wasn't why i liked Stormlight the most.
  17. Yeah haha
  18. My assumption has always been because he's freaking 1024 years old and lives in a society where facade and careful interaction is like key to society. So he's probably really really good at telling whether people are lying or not. I mean it's like being around with kids where you can tell whether they are under tension or hiding something. If it's about magical abilities then it's practically just soothing, he's probably the best soother in history.(not just in terms of power)
  19. IMO mistborn trilogy (specifically the 3rd book) has like the best twist and turns out of everything that i've read so far from Brandon Sanderson. You should finish it soon, book 3 was an insane ride and it's definitely one of those books that i wish i could forget and read again.
  20. Err Syl already said "That’s because it’s not a spren," with certainty. And she referred to it as weapon not entity so i presume it's not sentient kinda like the mists in mistborn.
  21. Oh you aren't done with hero of ages? Well that's too bad you'd probably recognize some of the epigraphs from WoTK as something related to mistborn. But yeah you should finish HoA first, mistborn is so damnation spoiler-sensitive.
  22. While i do think Vin is a bit radical to her methods. Like you guys said i don't think she'd become another Lord Ruler. There's a possibility she's take charge or maybe just support Elend in taking charge.
  23. I'm not sure about that can you quote that HOA epigraphs. Remember that Ruin being on your mind doesn't just mean he could just whisper into your thoughts he could encourage desires, make you feel things he wants which can be lead to doing something that would help him. He does know about hemalurgy but i don't think he's completely aware how linked it is to Ruin.
  24. Well Rashek's plans with the cache's and the careful planning of the hiding of Atium was certainly damnation brilliant along with his insanely stable government. Yeah he's probably the cleverest person short of Ruin in the series. Though the Bands are not his from era 2, i mean not intentionally crafted by him. Tbh i don't think he really knew that Hemalurgy was directly linked to Ruin. Also it must be insanely difficult to actually fight somebody who could insert thoughts and make you feel like you need to do something. I mean think about what Vin did the entire book 2 & 3 , it seems like it was her urge to look for the Atium was part of something grand, she felt like it was important but it was for Ruin's whole sake. Ruin could make some things important for other people without even you knowing.
  25. I'm repeating the WoB but added a comparison to it (the every person knows 1 model ) i also forgot to add an opinion about if specifically every person knows a coinshot specifically not just any allomancer that would mean allomancers in general must be really common if everybody knows a single 1 of the specific 18 mistings. It's more like to agree to your point but tbh i would've just quoted your WoB but this forum for reason can't quote nested-quotes(quote within the quote) from other people(i don't know why every damnation forum allows this except here) so i just ended typing it instead.
