What's YOUR Talent?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
Singing off tune. -
That concept may explain how someone who held Preservation for a bit could know certain things about the arts; the knowledge may be instinctive to the Shards. However, if they were not focused on that information they would likely not recall it consciously upon releasing the power as they would no longer have the mental capacity to manage so much information. So Rashek probably kept his knowledge of ecosystems and genetics, but not having focused on Hemalurgy he did not recall anything but the suggestions Ruin implanted.

Tshirt: Kelsier burned the Eleventh Metal
Kingsdaughter613 replied to kvn's topic in General Brandon Discussion
It's cool (and I voted yes) but if I could create a t-shirt it would have the words Sovereign [and] Survivor, with a spear piercing the two words. It would have the same effect and look so awesome... I may create one just for myself. You can do that under free use laws. It's selling it to others that is the problem. (Thus my homemade Bucky Barnes T-Shirt that I drew. I can't sell it but I can wear it.)- 4 replies

Where is the WoB about Adolin's blade belonging to an Edgedancer? I'd love to see that one! Any Adolin information is worth reading.
-
Good idea. I'll try that in the future.

Thanks! I'm horrible at finding these things a second time. Where was it?

It's been confirmed that Forten's potions are yet another variant of Selish magic. (I KNOW I read that; finding where though...) I believe Sandmastery may have a genetic component as well, but that is unconfirmed and more an indication.
-
If they work on Scadrial they may be a new form of Selish magic that uses Scadrian locations.

Have you read the latest Alcatraz book yet? Technically no major character dies who stays dead in TFE... but that's because Kelsier is Kelsier and he doesn't listen to Brandon.

Arcanum Unbounded Tour Thread
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Ted aka WinespringBrother's topic in Events and Signings
I'm due to give birth then so I want to stay near the hospitals I know. I may try anyway if it works out. It's still trickier than taking a train to the city though. I'm not raging, just wishful. -

Why does he never come to the Big Apple? I mean, his editor lives in QUEENS! Do they never visit each other? I could make it to most places in NYC. Not so much out of state. -
Depends on a lot of factors (a joint push, finding stress points, how many are steel/iron savants.) But I was really thinking of how vulnerable the computers would be to even slight push and pulls. And then there is wiring too. Plus the ships are not made of one metal piece but many small pieces. A savant could attack a small but essential piece of metal on the hull. Or use coin shots to mimic torpedoes with large chunks of metal.
-
Until someone gets the bright idea of pulling nails out of the hulls. Modern ships are even worse off. Unless we are building EVERYTHING out of aluminum or plastic. The biggest problem is actually the gunpowder. Not because the French or Brits are shooting, but because as soon as the Scadrians get ahold of some the Final Empire will probably start having internal issues. TLR suppressed gunpowder; TFE actually had the skill to use it once they found it. So the Final Empire loses to any gunpowder wielding force due to internal strife upsetting its ability to fight. Either that, or Rashek only sends the Kandra and Inquisitors.

I'm not sure... I think they are. Though they share many similarities among themselves. The same thing happens when I do Tolkien characters. It couldn't get Vivena, but it did guess Siri. Then it tried to guess Siri when I went for Vivena.

I'll let you know when I'm done! (It may be a while though.)

Glad to see this here! Thanks for posting it. Would you mind if I made a comic of this story? For some reason I really want to draw this.

Really weird observation from BoM [BoM spoiler]
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Capt. Goradel's topic in Mistborn
He really does seem to have grown. What happened in the ten years between SH and the memory?! Apparently those seeds of character growth actually sprouted... It says something about how well Brandon created Kelsier that we can tell so much from so little. His personality is so clearly formed that even the little deviations can become almost obvious. Hmm... A (somewhat) mature Kelsier. Is the Cosmere ready for this? If he ever fully gets over himself (maybe by era four? Maybe?) he'd probably be even more dangerous than he already is... and he's already plenty dangerous. -
Really weird observation from BoM [BoM spoiler]

I actually got my copy of TFE and read the two scenes back to back. The differences are interesting, as are the parallels. Crops left to rot vs being forced to farm. A few people trembling vs a community gathering. Coming with the intention to save as opposed to trouble making. The focus in the memory is clearly on the South Scadrians while in the TFE Kell's focus is on himself. But the biggest one for me: Kelsier isn't smiling. It isn't immediately obvious, but when you read it carefully you notice that a lot of sensations are picked up on. At no point does Wax notice memory Kelsier smiling. When does Kelsier not smile? I'm going to have to go through TFE with a fine tooth comb, but from what I recall it's when he's most concerned about someone else (when Vin got hurt) or when he's being most genuine. Kell's smile is, quite often, his mask. It would be very fitting to me if in a culture of masks the Survivor has set aside his. -

My Theory for the Future Religions of Mistborn
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Jedal's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Interesting idea. However, judging by what the later books you have the first two off. Survivorism is the closest to the Catholic Church in structure and belief. Pathians are closer to one of the Eastern Religions (it reminds me of a few, but I don't know them well enough.) All we really know about Sliverism is that they worship Marsh. I think your ideas have merit, but you should really finish the series as some events make some of those theories very unlikely. The spoiler is quite spoiler, so read at your peril! There is actually a fifth religion, which is probably going to be very important I am a bit of a mythology nerd, and as a religious person religiouns are something I have a personal interest in. I think you are a bit confused between the ancient Catholic Church and Judaism as much of what you described (aside from the descent from original believers) was a characteristic of the Medieval Chirch. There is also only about a hundred years between Alloy and era 3. By Era 4 they probably will be seen mainly as the stuff of legends. -
I'm studying to be an art therapist, so it was a lot of fun for me to read. I also really loved the way you wrote them; I thought it was spot on. Why don't you post it here? I'd actually really love to draw a comic of it. Would that be okay with you?

Were you by any chance the author of 'Found Objects'? Because I loved it, and it explored that idea...
