Well, Stormlight is the gaseous form of Investiture on Roshar (like the mists on Scadrial.) The pools are the liquid and we have yet to see the solid (or, at least, have it identified as such.) With regard to cold - cold is actually the absence of heat, so the real question is why use of Stormlight appears to draw heat away from an area? Heat is a form of energy, so is it being used as a fuel of some sort? If we can figure out what is happening to the heat then we will know what is causing the cold... An Aon that manipulates heat should be able to cause cold by removing heat from an area. That would be my guess anyway...

What if a koloss had feruchemy and/or allomancy?

There were two new metals. The alloys of each of metal are what are not counted. So two new naturally occurring metals, plus their alloys. Ie. Iron is the base metal; steel is its alloy. You need the one to get the second.

It should be pointed out that Selish magic is very different from its original form. We have a WoB that the system changed after Dominion and Devotion were shattered. It seems likely that there used to be to be three systems prior, as opposed to the current one. This theory includes the opinion that the current manifestation on Sel is an outgrowth of the merged system. The individual systems are what was lost, while the merged system expanded greatly. This has actually led me to the theory that either something similar will occur on Scadrial as Ruin and Preservation continue to merge, or that Harmony is maintaining the original organization. It also begs the question: Can anyone on Sel, if they knew how, access the original systems? Does anyone have access to it? And why does there not seem be much memory of the world's prior state (setting the Ire aside)? Shards do seem to be able to manipulate their systems to an extent, such as Edgli choosing whom to return. The ability to Return is inherent in the magic system. Scadrial is not much with regard to evidence, as it was created by its shards and thus has some interesting effects. The God metals seem to be a natural function of realmatics there; it's the quantity of Atium that is unusual, not it's existence. With regard to the OP nature of Scadrial's powers; Mistborn, which make Fullborn possible, are NOT a natural part of the system. That's why the Southern Scadriens have none. You needed to burn Lerasium to open that possibility. It is entirely possible that this is the case for Feruchemists as well, with Ferrings being the natural manifestation. If I'm right about the second part, then the only way to get a 'natural' OP Fullborn is to have had someone hack BOTH systems at some point in the past. Which happened, but I wouldn't call the result a natural outgrowth of the system, since there was no way for that result to occur by ordinary means (just like some RL created elements.)

Will Kelsier Show up in the second Mistborn Trilogy
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Aeshdan's topic in Mistborn
Appearing in a memory isn't quite the same as actually showing up. Personally, I felt the memory was mostly a confirmation of what was already clear; once Alik started talking it was obvious to me who the Sovereign had to be. (As in I started jumping up and down shrieking 'Kelsier's back!!') Once the Bands were revealed to be a spearhead and the whole temple a con, I rather thought Wax should have at least begun to suspect with the memory being confirmation. I'm quite disappointed in him. (It is also why I disagree with the possibility of the Sovereign being anyone else; it was the personality that informed me. Though I guessed even before that. My reaction to Marasi's graveyard monologue was 'Okay Brandon, I got it. Kell is coming back in this book, right? You can stop bashing me over the head now.') -
How strong would a Nicrosil Twinborn be?

At a guess, going by what happened with someone and Malatium, I'd say you'd probably see the instance of divergence. That's a total guess though. -
Lighteyes origin? [Mistborn spoilers]
Kingsdaughter613 replied to VinKohlin's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sounds like my husband! His eyes are a super dark olive green. Naturally his passport says brown. On the other hand, my father's eyes are obviously green, but I wouldn't call them 'light.' I do think it could go both ways, which is why I'd love to get a WoB on this too. Don't underestimate self delusion though; I know a man who, after 20+ years of marriage is still convinced his wife has blond hair. Anyone else would inform you that she very clearly has brown hair, which she has never dyed. He, however, was determined to marry a blond... and no amount of evidence will convince him that he didn't. -
Lighteyes origin? [Mistborn spoilers]
Kingsdaughter613 replied to VinKohlin's topic in Stormlight Archive
Note that this comes from people in the world and the culture of that area. I'm not saying your wrong, I'm saying culture shapes perceptions so any Vorin character's view is suspect. How often, especially in older books, is dark skin viewed as uniformly black, often described as jet or ebony? In reality, there are many variant shades of brown and you don't need perfect vision to see the difference in gradiation. But if your culture has taught you that all that matters is that that skin is 'dark' are you really going to notice? Vorin culture has taught that darkeyes eye color doesn't really matter. What matters is that it's dark. Lighteyes eye colors matter, so everyone takes note. It may well be that darkeyes eyes are actually very hard to differentiate; but it is equally possible that the culture has caused a strong tendency to view the eyes as 'dark' without bothering to look beyond that. -
It should be added that not everyone who goes through trauma gets PTSD. PTSD, like most psychological conditions, is caused by a combination of biological and environmental factors. Breeze's reaction at the end of WoA always seemed to be a form of shock to me. He essentially shut down because his mind couldn't handle what was happening. With Alrianne's help he was able to recover. We meet him in HoA at the end of his recovery, not the beginning. Having someone to help you through a crisis is a big factor in recovery and an effective Rioter likely understands the human psyche well enough to help someone through a crisis. Lack of support for veterans in society is one reason so many struggle. As a future therapist Breeze's recovery did not surprise me. More people recover, or are able to live healthy lives, after viewing horrors than people realize. And it has been a year. In contrast, Sazed has been drawing away from support, and doesn't really have anyone he feels comfortable turning to. He may also not want to heal; doing so means letting Tindwyl go and he isn't really ready to do that.

Lighteyes origin? [Mistborn spoilers]
Kingsdaughter613 replied to VinKohlin's topic in Stormlight Archive
We'd have to actually see their eyes to know I think, due to how cultural the whole thing is to them. A question to ask Brandon might be how a Scadrian's eyes would be viewed on Roshar. Would they be seen as Dark or Light? -
Oddly, I always see Ati as a grief councillor. He accepts death as a natural part of life and helps others come to that understanding so they can move on from loss. Then he picked up the force of Entropy...

Lighteyes origin? [Mistborn spoilers]
Kingsdaughter613 replied to VinKohlin's topic in Stormlight Archive
It should be noted that the Dark of darkeyes has nothing to with what we would call dark eyes on Earth. There are darkeyes with blue and green eyes, which we might call light. So it's not color, but tint. Or possibly that lighteyes literally have a faint glow behind the iris making the light part of the word refer to something else entirely. (It's kind of how I see it in my head. The eyes aren't actually lighter; they simply appear to be because they actually have a faint light shining through the iris. So darkeyes would have normal eyes, while lighteyes eyes would look kind of freaky to us.) -
It should also be noted that Kell is neither biologist, toxologist, or doctor. He's explaining it to Vin in a way that makes sense, and is probably how he understands it. In this area he's unreliable as it isn't something he really has a reason to know. Now, if it had been Sazed talking...

Can gold healing reconstruct things that are not your body?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to king of nowhere's topic in Mistborn
That's why I suggested hair and eye color. Hair especially, but even eyes, change color naturally. I'm not talking about changing your species, but pigmentation seems to be something that could be easily altered by perception. Some scars are merely a discoloration of the skin. If those reappear why would the pigmentation in hair and eyes be different? It's pretty much the same thing. Actually, it occurs to me that the Returned can do this, (if they knew how) and their appearance is a matter of perception. So it seems there is a basis for some shifting, but I suspect it has MAJOR limitations. Hair and eye and skin color, height, weight, etc. are all things that vary throughout life and so would not be a major alteration. Drastic changes would be another matter entirely. -
I'll have to look. I really want to highlight this...

Can gold healing reconstruct things that are not your body?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to king of nowhere's topic in Mistborn
Really? My organic chemistry teacher said it was. Then again, she wasn't the world's greatest teacher... (As in, no college and I knew some things better than her. She was also about 20 and teaching 11th grade, so yeah...) With regard to fillings: I chose that specifically, as it seems to me that someone who has had fillings for years might see them as part of their body. This does not apply to temporary fillings, or to new fillings. I don't think jewelry is a good example as they are removable and interchangeable. A permanent piece, such as certain necklaces and bangles in some cultures, might be a different story. (In those cases the jewellery is usually put on shortly after birth. As the child grows the bracelet/necklace can no longer be removed as the hand/head is too big. In that case a person might well come to see the jewellery as part of their body.) As an interesting aside, this may allow for some shapeshifting if the person's cognitive self differs from their actual self. Say, viewing one's self as a brunette as opposed to Dark blond or as having green eyes instead of brown. Would gold healing change the color? -
Which chapter was that?

Can gold healing reconstruct things that are not your body?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to king of nowhere's topic in Mistborn
Here's a fun addition to all this; how would gold healing impact a pregnancy? Is the baby considered part of the mother? If the baby has a defect, but the mother uses gold healing and believes the fetus is perfect, will the baby heal? Diamonds are actually organic compounds; they are formed of pure carbon chains. Most pigments are as well. So you'd be more likely to be able to regrow a diamond filling than a gold one as carbon is readily available in the body. I doubt you could regrow a piercing; they are removable and interchangeable. A tattoo might regrow as a discoloration of the skin, making it more of a beauty/birth mark technically, but appearing the same. There should be no issue with scars regrouping, as that is merely damaged skin. Regrouping limbs doesn't come from nowhere; it starts at the stump and uses the body's own cells. (Stem cells most likely, as that's how it may someday occur in RL.) As an added thought to my above pregnancy question; if a baby is considered part of its mother then someone with hysterical pregnancy may be able to 'create' a child using their own cells. The child would always be female, and also a clone of its mother. Men with hysterical pregnancy could not, as the awareness that men don't get pregnant should prevent that. It also would be very dangerous for a man. The healing might instead remove the symptoms. -
Oh, thanks! Do you know where in the book that was mentioned? I must have missed it and want to highlight it for future reference.

I read that one somewhere. You should be able to look it up. The simple answer is yes you can; the real question is HOW?! I doubt it's easy, which is probably why the set isn't doing it. Not to mention that the Mists in their time will distill to Harmonium, not Lerasium. Going into theory mode, I think tapping Harmonium as though it were a metal mind would cause one to become a feruchemist. (Burn for allomancy, tap for feruchemy, spike for hemalurgy. It makes sense that you'd need to burn a metal to become an allomancer. Not so much for a feruchemist, which is why I think it requires tapping investiture.) I also think it is a 50/50 alloy of Lerasium and Atium, as that is what Harmony is (half Ruin and a half Preservation.) So my belief is that you could take Harmonium and break it down into the two other God metals. I doubt doing any of those things would be easy though... probably just easier to spike people.

"'O'There is always another secret' rightfully belongs to Secret History. I actually really like the one about silk and ash. Two from Alendi: "Sometimes, I worry that I’m not the hero everyone thinks I am." And "When they see me, do they see a liar?" Both fit this book very well; understandably as they are respectively the first and last lines in the prolouge's epigraph. Also from the prologue: “New days are coming. Survive a little longer, and you just might see great happenings in the Final Empire." Considering what follows... And this: “That wasn’t foolhardy—that was just a small diversion. You should see some of the things I’m planning to do!” If only Dox knew just what Kell meant... could you imagine his reaction? The following has huge spoilers, so be warned.

I did find one really awesome Mistborn tic called Found Objects on fanfiction.net. It has MAJOR spoilers for everything under the Mistborn title though, so be warned. Yes, including the BoM epilogue and SH. As a fan of art history though it was VERY funny. There are a few others as well, but you really have to look and many are incomplete. There are also a few on Archive of Our Own. Again, you have to look. The gems are worth the slog.

The Mistborn and the Masked Brigade
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Mistbornwithakitty's topic in Sanderson Fan Works
I agree with the above poster. This is a very interesting premise but events in the epilogue of Secret History indicate someone is influencing Spook. If you read every other Cosmere book then you should really read SH as it is the most Cosmere aware tale we have yet. It's also a LOT of fun. If you'll only get one Brandon ebook then get that one.
