  1. WoBs, if you want more info: Hope that helps
  2. I kinda like it happened off-screen, since as late as Ch 129 Kaladin is thinking about the Oathgate somewhere in Shinovar he was supposed to secure - then they all forgot about it in Ishar's stupidity. That deserved consequences, and not going to Ayabiza or learning to stop Odium's agents there is what resulted. At least this feels more real than "oh, we forgot about that, good thing nothing bad happened."
  3. I know he didn't beforehand, but I guess I just took the fact that it's covered by the Everstorm to mean he controls it now, seems that might be a false assumption. We're shown that the Everstorm recedes from Azir and that El agrees to leave the Listeners independant, but we don't get anything that tells us Shinovar isn't under his control so I just assumed. I also remember the Reshi Isles being specifically mentioned as free of Odium's influence, but again, not Shinovar. If Shinovar isn't already under Retribution's control, it seems like they'll have to bow to him anyway in order to grow anything. Odium took control of Shinovar while Ishar was busy playing reindeer games. WaT Ch 145: The Stone Shamans at the monestaries were not the government of the Shin - that was in Ayabiza (which all of the viewpoints bypassed). Odium took that while nobody was looking.
  4. Babatharnam. WaT I-12: WoK Ch 46: WoB: Hope that helps
  5. I'm sorry, I did not mean to imply she was a genius. Cultivation was not bound the same way the Odium was bound - that was only one layer holding her to Roshar: So, beside the events of Ch 113, Cultivation was already bound to Roshar through having her power Invested in the Physical and Cognitive of Roshar. So I may have been hasty in my prior assessment - She might not have been able to leave is Taravangian had ended the War by being a better vessel - that may have only been a step toward being able to separate the power she had invested to remain behind, allowing her to move on.
  6. Personally, I don't think Cultivation's real plan cared one way or another about Dalinar or Taravangian. We saw in Ch 100 and 120 that Kor did not want to be on Roshar, and she chaffed at being bound to the planet as much as Odium did (toss up as to which might want to leave more). Kor did not want to be a god, she did not want worship and, both Kor and Cultivation did not want to stagnate on one planet. I think Kor's plan A was to escape Roshar, by any means possible If Taravangian has been a better vessel and ended the war, she could leave If Dalinar Ascended and ended the war, she could leave. If Odium "won" she could leave If Tarvangian claimed both Shards, she could leave. It just happens that number four is what happened. Do you happen to have any sources for these assertions? Because, by my understanding: There is no WoB about this that I can find Not even sure what you may be referring to here Except for the people on this forum. Sure no one person predicted every reveal in Day 10, but nearly ever reveal in Day 10 was postulated by somebody (for example, I was expecting and hoping for Odium to be freed from Roshar back in Oathbringer when the Letters were epigraphs). Unless you mean in-world. This is already proven false - there's an entire Trilogy (Mistborn Era 1) that is essentially showing how Preservation, through Futuresight and planning, out manuevered Ruin through a combination of Thanatos Gambit and Batman Gambit. I'm not saying don't voice your opinions, but I am asking you to find a less Odius method of doing so. Please. Alternatively, you can do what I do - simply refuse to open or read threads about things that hit your personal hot-buttons (for me - preview material, Vs. threads, and fake postulants on MoIs we still do not have information on - much less enough information to theorize other applications of that MoI). As Szeth might say - please Add, don't Subtract.
  7. On a Tangential note, have any of you read Seven Kennings Trilogy (Kevin Hearne, Book 1: A Plague of Giants)? OT: Sorry for the tangent.
  8. I thought Ishar Unmade himself by taking power from Odium's well. He wasn't bearing the madness of the others (that was his excuse to himself, caused by his own madness) he was the Source of the Magical Madness and he was infecting the other Heralds (and all of Shinovar). WaT:
  9. I'm sorry, but I find that unlikely. In a society that required two 50+ year old adults to be chaperoned and not left alone (Dalinar and Navani) because it was unseemly, I doubt Adolin was finding alone-time with any of the women he courted. Even WoK Ch 18 points out his date with Jenala was attended by her Handmaid to make sure they were not alone.
  10. Sorry, but the correct plural of octopus is actually octopodes, because the "i" at the end is Latin plural rules, and the word "octopus" is Greek in origin, so you need to use the Greek plural. Octopuses, Octopodes and Octopi are all correct. Octopuses is the most common in English, Octopodes is the least common in English (but the most true to the Greek roots), Octopi is nearly as common as Octopuses and is a second or third declension of Latin, as derived from polypus (the original Latin name before Latinic speakers adopted Octopus as well). Sources: Hope that helps
  11. The Lopen knows cousin Kaladin can't die that easily.
  12. I always thought it was implied (but not stated) that some/most of these brightladies were looking for an excuse to "reject" the Kholin name that was rapidly becoming anathema to the Poltical scene of the Shattered Plains (ref: Danlan/Inkima conversation at the winehouse in WoK). At least, the was the only thing that made sense to me as to why so many of them had such extreme reactions to minor grievances (though the sisters' problem might not have been quite as minor).
  13. Yes, I've seen the Starchart - but the quote I referenced implied they had read the Essay, and as far as I know that is not available (and only tentatively scheduled for AUL/AU2) - it was supposed to be in the Warbreaker Leatherbound, but I thought that didn't happen. I was trying to confirm if @Eahlendell did read the essay, and if so - where. WoBs:
  14. The rate at which SR visions pass is neither stable nor consistent. That's why Dalinar needed a clock Connected to Wit's to be able to keep tabs on the PR time while in the SR. The Heralds do not have that, Ishar's comment was simply about "when we return, we will not know how much time has passed until we get there."
  15. I was updating the previous post with the Prologue reference when you replied. No need - Hemalurgy Provides. WoB:
  16. Yeah, for me it was when we got to the Flashback Chapter of the night of Gavilar's death when I had the ah-hah moment: RoW: That's when I connected Gereh in the Prologue (he told Navani about Gavilar) to the death in I-5 and Lift seeing a bloody chest wound and assuming it was a knife, but the missing jewelry made it likely something else.
  17. Axindweth is a Feruchemist Worldhopper, previously seen in the Venli/Eshonai Flashbacks of RoW and she has (apparently) been meddling on Roshar for years (she used Connection to speak the Listener Tongue in that flashback). She fled from the other known Feruchemist Worldhopper (Kholin Steward Gereh) and likely is the one who sold him out to Mraize, so he could be Spiked for an unknown power (RoW I-5). However, we do not know if she was also the Terris Worldhopper in Warbreaker. Nor do we know if she left Scadrial before the Catacendre, even earlier in TLR's reign, or possibly before even Alendi and Rashek's trip to the Well (depending on if she is Ageless; and, if so, how). RoW I-5: Hope that helps
  18. Here's the quote (WaT Postlude): Hope that helps.
  19. True, but again keep in mind: not ALL singers, and not even all Fused. Concur absolutely. I'm sorry I was unclear that I was using "fused" in that sentence in the singular (the specific fused talking in the reference quote).
  20. Or forge a peace. Way back in OB we see in the disussion with the Fused and the Thaylen Singer (Venli Translating) that the Singers didn't want to attack their home and did not seem to mind the idea of living with humans, so long as they were free. It was the fused pushing to "eradicate all humans" not the singers. OB Ch 115:
  21. Your assessment is correct. WaT Spoilers: Hope that helps
  22. My understanding is that Sanderson was treating it more like a normal aircraft or car, in that accelleration is felt by those inside, but once a non-increasing cruising speed is reached, the internals are travelling at the same speed as the externals, and the frame of reference inside becomes a net zero (passenger's flying on commercial airlines do not experience G forces from cruise speeds at altitude - only in accelleration and deceleration). However @DrPhysics is probably the best person to discuss the issue.
  23. I can certainly agree to disagree. In fact, I'll agree to disagree some more: That list (with my observances): The things is, Kaladin was never really attracted to Shallan. Syl may have wanted him to be, but he only knew that she made him feel like Tien without ever realizing that it is part of the Lightweaver Resonance to have that effect on others (such as Shallan's first interactions with Vathah's band). *Shallan's Masks:
  24. Concur, I also disagree with this statement. Sorry, but I disagree here. He looked once at another female on their very first date. By the time they go to visit the menagerie together, I can recall of no other instances where he is looking at other women while spending time with her - and it is more likely in their exchanges that Shallan is the one bringing up his prior relationships, not him. Unfortunately, I thought it was the author's attempt at humor - that very much did not feel like humor (definitely not as funny, to me, as Pattern's interactions with them-as-a-couple). Interstingly, it seems his primary fault in WoK and early WoR was an inability to understand his partner's needs or account for how his actions affected them - yet that is what drew them together in Oathbringer. He started understanding Shallan's needs and how he could be there for her when she needed him; which led to her monologue in the aftermath of the battle of Thaylen Field (OB Ch 121)
