  1. It's even more. He breaks a 4th wall to tell who he is living with, then in that break he breaks the 4th wall AND THEN he comments on him breaking 16 walls! He is commenting on him doing wall breaks! It's a meta 16th wall break!
  2. Mobile phones in my possession usually meet their end. Even if that phone was passed on from several people (like my mother -> my sister -> me), I am usually the ultimate demise. The damage is various: sometimes the phone just gives up, sometimes I accidentally inflict physical damage (oddly enough, I never dropped it. When it gets damaged it's in my pocket and I'm falling to the ground or something like that). Right now I switched back from the smartphone that got Shattered after I fell hard to my older phone. This older phone recently started to switch off at random... I'm... Mobile Demise? Cell Destructor? Ruination of phones?
  3. It's only a pain because you're used to using base 10 for your whole life. I would prefer base 12, it carries most of the benefits of base 60 (easy division by 2,3,4 and 6) and it has way less symbols.
  4. Splinters doesn't necessarily have to be intelligent, right?
  5. I actually suspect it's something similar to Parshendi Forms. Merging with the Splinter.
  6. Tell that to Sumerians. I actually thought that maybe they used some variation of base 8 (since there were 8 metals + 2 higher), but then I remembered that 16 was found everywhere in the mythology. The 16 symbols part I'm basing on the coppermind, they have letters and numbers linked to the symbols. Check out "Steel alphabet".
  7. I suspected it may work similarly to roman numerals, thanks for the link
  8. The problem is that base metals make up numbers from 1 to 16. Base 16 is a system in which symbols represent numbers from 0 to 15. Base number is always "10" in its system. So if we have numbers from 1 to 16 and then we invent a symbol for 0, we end up with base 17.
  9. On the other hand, he didn't say they were the most opposite to each other. Only that there are those who would be less opposite.
  10. Well, destroying other planets was the reason for giving his Inquisitors spikes which allowed them to Compound age - if he succeeded on Scadrial, he would already have an army of koloss and a group of powerful Metalborn. Odium fears Harmony because Harmony is way more powerful than him. I can't imagine an event which would cause Harmony to separate into Preservation and Ruin - there is a WoB that if Sazed was killed, he would drop not Preservation and Ruin, but Harmony. So even killing the Shardholder wouldn't cause them to separate.
  11. When discussing atium cache nobody brings it up, so here I am.
  12. Basically, all Feruchemy is "I am less something now for 10 minutes to be able to be more something later for 10 minutes". Something - heavy, healthy, strong, fast, warm, etc, etc. But copper doesn't work that way. If it would, it would store ability to remember things. "For ten minutes I won't be able to remember almost anything, but when I tap it I would be able to engrave anything in my memory". It could still be used as it is - to remember tons of information. Another thing is that all other metals store quantities of something - but copper stores specific memories. That's why we run into wall when trying to figure out copper Compounding. Normally we know what overtapping does - you cut down the time of tapping to increase the rate of tapped attribute (and some loss of power for overtapping). But with copper there is no gain from overtapping. There is no need to build up copper reserves by storing. You just store and tap whatever you want, no drawbacks. Your thoughts?
  13. Most of the jokes I laughed at (even when I could see them coming) but I truly lost it during Deadpool breaking himself on Colossus when he had broken both his wrists and said "Tyrannosaurus Rex was the most terrifying dinosaur!" (or something like that) Anyway, I think that watching it once isn't enough. I think I was the only one in the cinema who got the joke about Xavier "which one? McAvoy or Stewart?". I had to explain it to my friend. There was also a line about "Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret." I only managed to recognize this is a reference to something because I read xkcd. But I still don't get the joke.
  14. I wonder what would happen when severely drunk Feruchemist taps zinc and bronze. (I know that tapping gold would burn alcohol away, but I want him to be simultaneously drunk and clearly thinking - would zinc and bronze do it?)
  15. We don't know. My money is on Steel Compounder. Actually, there are is an example - if you read Naruto, look up the fight in the Valley Of The End. Sasuke is basically burning atium (Sharingan let's him see opponent's next move) but Naruto is moving so fast that the he has trouble adjusting. Image here: I say a Steel Compounder can go way faster than that. Compounding Steel may be the most broken Metallic power there is. If he's standing still, the coin will move at normal steel, but if he's Steelrunning, his speed will be added to the coin. Theoretically it's possible to burn metals in your body, but I'm not sure anybody figured it out. People generally swallow metals to burn them.
  16. Maybe he intented to revert his age when Well Of Ascension filled up again? Edit: Ninja'd by NovaSeeker.
  17. What would happen if an Awakener who is also a Surgebinder spoke an Ideal with intent of Awakening? (Could Ideals be Commands?)
  18. Maybe the poles are 0 and the order is reversed - ascending as you approach the equator.
  19. Haven't we tried this already? I'll try to find the topic...
  20. It was an easy WoB to find, just checking coppermind was enough.
  21. Progression is Cultivation. I also think that "Harmony" is kind of too broad name for combination of Preservation and Ruin. It describes balance between opposing Shards, but it has nothing to do with these two specific Shards, as both of them has to do with the way things change (or not). In a way, combination of Ruin and Cultivation could also be Harmony, as it is balance between improvement and destruction. But better name would be Change. Similarly, Preservation + Cultivation also could be Harmony because it is balance between stasis and improvement. I personally think that this combination could be named Prosperity or something along these lines. So we've got three different combinations and they all could be named Harmony. It isn't really descriptive, is it? Unfortunately, I have no idea what would be a better name for Ruin + Preservation.
  22. Perhaps the fact that Rosharan Shards are Honor and Cultivation largely counteracts this approach. people are of Honor which may have an effect on their behaviour Honor set up his Heralds to be an example for people and made them return to lead people against forces of evil Odium is located on Braize, not on Roshar He is not Invested in Roshar (Ruin was largely Invested in Scadrial, what allowed him to have more influence) Cultivation is a fully aware Shard opposing him Odium is bound "by Tanavast design or not" Despite all these, Odium managed to create his Unmade and they're influencing people - Nergaoul causes the Thrill which makes people lose themselves in the battle and bloodshed, feeling joy as they're slaughtering enemies. I believe there are more influences Unmade have on people. I feel it is important to point out how subtle and smooth was Odium move with inventing the Thrill - Alethkar descends itself from Alethela which was the war kingdom (as the female Radiant in Midnight Essence vision said). Thrill isn't something completely new - berserker rage is a thing, Odium just made the bloodlust more prevalent and strenghtened it to this point that somebody not feeling the Thrill is considered odd. Nobody is going to suspect that this 'heritage' of the protectors of humanity is in fact caused by the evil god of Voidbringers.
  23. Could Lift inhale Stormlight and then convert it to body fat/nutritional energy?
  24. Wait, is Shadesmar separate thing from Cognitive Realm now? EDIT: Oh, I assume you're just being a mathematician here. You can't exit into space from Shadesmar because Shadesmar is Cognitive Roshar. So exiting Shadesmar will always result in appearing on Roshar, while exiting Cognitive Realm wouldn't.
