  1. I posted my theory on Three Metallic Arts on Mistborn forum. Hope you enjoy it.
  2. But he still sends a highstorm in 'possible' point in time - sometimes Weeping have a highstorm in the middle, sometimes not. I know it was a year without one, but Stormfather bent the rules a little and send one anyway. Bending rules a lot would be like sending two highstorms one after another.
  3. My first theory, yeah! Less more of consistent theory, more of pointing out things we don't know which are important for better understanding of TMA. What's in blue is what I'd like to get WoBed about. Or see WoBed. First (Question/Theory): Double godmetal alloys We have: 16 base metals lerasium + 16 alloys with base metals atium + 16 alloys with base metals If we assume that harmonium is not atium-lerasium alloy, then another question arises: Are there lerasium alloys which make atium (and atium alloys) Mistings? Seers are a thing, but we don't know if they can be created by lerasium alloy. Assuming it's possible, now everything goes weird, since there should be also lerasium alloys of atium alloys, to make atium alloys Mistings (like malatium Mistings and so on). But the number of lerasium alloys now goes up to 33 (16 base + atium + 16 atium alloys). So now also atium should have alloys with lerasium alloys, and also lerasium itself (lets wave it away with lerasium alloy of atium being 70% lerasium and 30% atium (allomantically making a Seer) and atium alloy of lerasium being 70% atium and 30% lerasium). So now atium also has 33 alloys. We don't want to explode our heads, so no lerasium alloys of atium alloys of lerasium-something alloys and vice versa. We need WoB on existence of atium-alloys Mistings and if lerasium alloy of atium creates a Seer and also if there are lerasium alloys of atium alloys. Second (Statement): Atium not universally burnable I want to deal a blow to the theory that atium can be burned by anybody/any Allomancer. TLR has been experimenting for 1000 years and Yomen confirmed existence of system of finding Seers (which implies that if there was an overlap of Mistings and atium Mistings, somebody would notice this), so there would be no need to spike Mistborns for allomantic atium. Hell, Ruin would also know that. I am not sure about atium alloys, maybe Mistings can burn god-alloys of their metal? So Coinshots can burn atium-steel maybe? Very unlikely, but can't rule that out. Third (Theory): On Atium and its alloys It fits too well with malatium and gold and electrum. But this could be linked to the 'switching' Preservation did with cadmium and bendalloy. I am not sure I agree with this whole "atium being of Ruin makes perfect killing machines of Allomancers". Because it does nothing like this to Feruchemists and it's almost useless to them. I'd rather say it's connected with temporal effects - allomantically lets you look into the future, feruchemically store age, Hemalurgically... well, I go with it being supermetal in its own system, so there is an exception. What atium alloys do Hemalurgically? I have two theories: It lets you steal what the not-alloyed metal steals, but better. Remember, lerasium alloys take its application (lets you burn everything) and split it to match the metal its alloyed with. So atium-steel steals what steel steals, but better. Second theory is connected with something I have seen around here. It states that allomantically atium switches one of the traits of given metal (external -> internal, Pushing->Pulling etc). Like it does with gold. So Hemalurgically it would steal what not-alloyed metal can steal, but the charge gets changed. So atium-steel could steal allomantic tin from a Thug. Or allomantic iron from a Coinshot. I like the first one more. Fourth (Question/Theory): On Feruchemy and harmonium What god metals and their alloys do in Feruchemy? (apart from atium, obviously. Or maybe there is some misconception about feruchemical atium and storing age is just part of its traits. Extremely unlikely) I assume that harmonium is it's own metal and not lerasium-atium alloy. More like a nuclear fusion of atium and lerasium. With god metals being jokers in their respective systems, I propose harmonium being a perfect, universal metalmind. Also creates a Feruchemist. It's alloys could be a perfect container, working like not-alloyed container. So harmonium-steel is perfect container for speed. No idea about allomantic and hemalurgical harmonium. But things get weird again with alloys - there are probably alloys with base metals, but we encounter the same problem as in First:double godmetal alloys - harmonium alloys of god metals and god metals' alloys. I'm leaning more and more towards no double godmetal alloys. I guess I will go with 'no-triple-godmetal-alloys' rule. Also, it's really hard to figure out what any given metal does in Feruchemy, since Feruchemy doesn't obey the classification of external/internal Pushing/Pulling. Fifth (Theory) : Number of metals 16 base lerasium: pure + 16 alloys + atium alloy + 16 base atium alloys + harmonium alloy + 16 base harmonium alloys atium: pure + 16 alloys + lerasium alloy + 16 base lerasium alloys + harmonium alloy + 16 base harmonium alloys harmonium: pure + 16 alloys + atium alloy + 16 base atium alloys + lerasium alloy + 16 base lerasium alloys = 67 metals. = 169 metals. Godmetals have way more alloys than sixteen. Also, is it confirmed that Mistborn can burn all the metals? Sixth (Question/Theory) : Godmetals I'd really like to know what is the bronze pulse of lerasium and atium and their alloys. Would help a lot. Maybe lerasium and atium belong in a bigger system? Like, what if all Shards were on Scadrial? Then we would get a Shardmetal system. With 16 godmetals, then maybe they would be properly categorized? Also, we would get something like tanavastium and its alloys... 17*16 godmetals and their alloys + base 16. 288 metals. (Pure wildguessing) If I'm right and we can have alloys with more than one god metal in it, then the number of all combinations skyrockets. Too lazy to count them, but with only 16 base, one god metal alloys and two god metal alloys we're reaching 4128 possible metals and the more god metals, the worse it gets (exponentionally, or even faster). It's all assuming that there is a difference between (one_god_metal)-(second_god_metal) alloy and (second_god_metal)-(one_god_metal). If they are the same, the number drops a little but the order of magnitude remains unchanged. Also, I suspect lerasium lets you store Allomancy and its alloys respective metal Allomancy. Summary: There it goes. Questions are what are really questions we need to ask oursleves, Theory is what I invented and Statement is what I very strongly believe with some backing from the books. Your thoughts? Anybody wants a cookie?
  4. Well, I tried to make a cosmere magic user duplicating what Iron Man can do. Now I think about it, being a Radiant with some additions will suffice, since Iron Man's armor is similar to Shardplate
  5. Well... what defines Iron-Man? Flying, but Steelpushing and Ironpulling won't suffice. I'd go with spike to Roshar for some Gravity. Allomantic pewter, probably with inhaling Stormlight would do for his physical traits. Repulsors and missiles, allomantic steel. Summoning armor Extremis-like, probably allomantic iron, but maybe Reverse Lashing will suffice. All the sensors built in, allomantic tin. That will cover the basics, I think.
  6. Yeah, but first you have to find some genetically-engineered, radioactive spiders with supernatural abilities I doubt we have spiders which can sense danger so well it becomes prekog. And as far as I remember, Peter built his webshooters, so it's not an animal trait he gained.
  7. Nice! Since Aons are basically programming (with being formula based), so she would totally rock that. I am not sure if she would even need Shards with such powerful Aonic magic. Also, can an Elantrian power the Shardplate by himself or does he need to create some hack with Aons?
  8. Spiderman: allomantic iron, hmm... Surge of Abrasion (I think we can spike that), allomantic pewter, allomantic atium & tin. I think that's it Very nice!
  9. A little bending of the rules, but full Feruchemy for Iron Man. Given the amount of metal he carries around...
  10. I, for example, don't read One Piece, do I don't know these mostly obvious reasons. For doctors in any world, including ours: feruchemical copper! Also, for lawyers. And for all the science people, really.
  11. They would be like hyperheroes. Remember, the point of the exercise is giving additional powers. There was another topic with replacing abilities of heroes with cosmere powers (like Batman with allomantic iron instead of grappling hook etc.). But speedsters with double steel? They would break the multiverse even more. And imagine shooting a coin at warp speed (since speed is additive and you're running at least Mach 1. Brrrr). Not to mention how much can they fill steelmind. Wait, that's limiting factor - with amount of the speed they can store, they would need to wear a steel armormind to have some gain from compounding speed (since normally they run faster than sound). Also, Daredevil with double tin is another good point Hulk with double pewter is also obvious. But double zinc or maybe double aluminium could make a level-headed, reasoning Hulk? He doesn't need even more strength . He needs to be able to think clearly, now that would be devastating.
  12. I'm not sure if I understood you correctly; tapping atium lets you use the charge inside to change from your natural state. So, being 1020 years old, to be 20 years old, you have to tap 1000 years at all times. It's not restoring you to your original state - storing makes you go below your "normal point" and tapping above - storing strength makes you weaker than normally and tapping strength makes you stronger than naturally. So, tapping atium makes you younger than you are. ... OK, now I think I know what you meant: why tapping gold doesn't revert to your normal state which is 1000+yrs old? While age and health are connected, tapping gold makes you healthy - doesn't matter, healthy 5 year old, 20 years old or 1000 years old. Or maybe while you are tapping atium you fool gold to think you're younger? But since gold uses Cognitive matrix of yourself... I'd stick with healthy 1000+ years old.
  13. It's self-explanatory, I think. I'd rather stick with Twinborn combinations (one feruchemic and one allomantic ability), but you can give any two transferable abilities. We're aiming for the best effect. Try to explain why did you choose these powers. Try to explain original abilities of the character and how it would interact. (Double atium is kinda too obvious, so is double gold, so do not overuse them - unless you have a good reason. Also, allomantic atium makes everyone badass, so... unless you have a good reason) Any book, comic, film, and so on. My first idea is double brass for Kvothe (Patrick Rothfuss, 'Kingkiller Chronicles') Kvothe is a talented musician, and playing lute and Soothing audience gets along well. He is also an arcanist. It's magic based on linking two objects (something between quantum entanglement and voodoo), and anything you do to the one of them is also done to the other. Different links can change energy from one form to the other, you can change kinetic energy to light and so on. Popular source is heat, you can draw power from a bonfire or your own body, which could be dangerous because of hypothermia. Compounding heat would allow to not need external sources and also he'd be able to break even through opposition (it's stated that with enough power, like blast furnace, you can even break the protection of protective artifact). Your thoughts? P.S. I'm sorry if there is a topic like that

    Alloy Composition

I recently had a thought: what if alloys used up to now are NOT in fact pure enough? Like in fact it's not 91% of some metal, but 91.3674%. I imagine that in the modern-day trilogy scientist will figure out the ideal compositions. It could give a small power boosts to Allomancers, since it would become a better channel to the power source.
  15. Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard! Do you want a cookie?
  16. Actually, I have made some cookies. Do you want one of them? Does anybody want a cookie? Also, my thoughts about the metals are less of a consistent theory and more of asking ourselves the right questions.
  17. Well, that's it. Hello everyone! What of Cosmere have I read? : Elantris Stormlight Archive Mistborn Trilogy I haven't read Warbreaker or Alloy of Law yet, but lurking around TVTropes, then coppermind, then here exposed me to so many spoilers that I already know what's happening, so...yeah. What else? I'm programmer in training; second year of university, which in my country means I'm 20. I finally decided to join the forum after I found a group of BS Polish fans on facebook (Yeah, I'm Polish, but I don't shine or something ). Apparently I'm one of the most cosmere-aware there, not to brag, but it also means I keep surprising people with news of Hoid being an Allomancer and so on, so I got a lot of educating before me My hobbies: apart from reading, it's bridge, mainly duplicate bridge. And I love sailing, although I don't have many opportunities to do so (in fact I haven't done that for two years, but love is love). I yet to have figure out what's that shardhunt (and other things) some people talk about, so pardon me not being up-to-date (And I got some ideas about metals system, but more about later) P.S. Is there some archive of all WoB? With filters etc?
