  1. Newcomer spends some time theorising about it internally. Then he states "Ally, you indeed can bring bookies. Amrynn, I saw your oaths as the Forumlurker of the Knights Awkward and I wonder if you would like to join Theorywatchers of Knights Theoretic?"
  2. Newcomer seems puzzled. "Are these some kind of cookies they offer around here? It's better not to accept them. I saw what is done with cookies in dark alleys... If you mean books, then fine, we can always use more books. Books provide references, references are foundations for theories, therefore books are divine and of Theory. And I like reading."
  3. Newcomer said "I don't forbid my Knights from being members of other organizations, even other formations of Knights. You don't need to abandon your comrades nor your titles. Come and together we shall craft theories not seen before! Theories which will make earth and sky tremble in their foundations! Come and speak again the ancient oaths!"
  4. Yeah, 'haze' is just another word for 'mist' (as in 'hazekillers'). But it rhymes with those you listed, and maybe there is some Pattern to it...
  5. hmm, maybe add 'haze' to the list?
  6. Oh, but guessing is fine as long as you hold facts before guessing. It doesn't mean not to guess; it commands not to ignore the facts. 'Checking before assuming' also doesn't mean that assuming is bad; my Knights are not omniscient and I accept that. As long as their theories doesn't have obvious and evident flaws contradicting the facts which could have been checked in an instant, I am fine with that. Mind you, 'what if' theories and alike can assume things which are obviously contradicting what is canon. You just need to learn to differentiate between what is and what could have been and between what can be and what could be. It's very important for Theoryweavers, it's part of their journey to become better Theorybinders. Do you still want to decline the position? I saw potential in what you theorized about Renarin.
  7. Soulcasting Breaths to stormlight is a waste. Better soulcast Stormlight to Breaths.
  8. I believe some of Knights Awkward here may also want to join my Orders of Knights Theoretic. Thus, I propose an alliance.
  9. I had two semesters of mathematical analysis. The first one was pretty simple, sequences and series, derivatives, integrals, basic stuff like that. I also had a semester of 'algebrae and analitycal geometry', loved it, scored something like... A+, I guess? (we have a much different scale) I had to take additional exam to get a mark above A. On the exam, I proved that there is no such matrix X which obeys X^T= A*X*B. A,X,B are all matrixes of nth grade, n>=2, X^T means X transponed. I was pretty proud since I was the only one to solve this particular task The second semester of mathematical analysis was much worse, since I focused on other classes and almost failed it. Still, I don't understand 75% of what was in this course -.- Double and triple integrals, partial derivatives and such. But why am I writing here? Does anybody know a science article on programming/IT? I have to review it for my English class... And I am running out of time.
  10. The last time we see Windrunners' Honorblade is in Urithiru when Kaladin sticks it in the ground dramatically before Dalinar, while telling him that he killed the Assassin. I haven't read any of the Book 3 chapters, though.
  11. Definitely. Speak the Words (you may put them in your sign) and rise to Weave more Theories. You may now bear the title of Theoryweaver. P.S. I am not entirely sure about Theoryshapers, if somebody has a better idea, let me know.
  12. I provide a quote from Zahel! And another one.
  13. Hm, I think it's time to post a topic about formation of Diagram. Has anyone already speculated about that?
  14. Well, at first they had 9 Blades (unless Darkness went back for his immediately after Kalak and Jezrien walked away in Prelude). Also, there is no better way to protect something so valuable than bonding to it. They don't have to use them, they maybe locked away somewhere, and when they find out that something was stolen (I picture a weekly ritual to check if the Blades are in place) they simply need to summon to their hands. Unstealable, unless you kill the Stone Shaman. But the Stone Shaman is a holder of Honorblade, what makes him hard to kill. They are to protect the Blades, it doesn't contradict the rule against using weapons.
  15. But how for the tenth name of Almighty he would know that? To know that you need a fight between somebody with Honorblade and Surgebinder with a spren. One Blade with Taln, seven with the Shins, one with Nalan hunting Surgebinders and it seems he is using it to execute and not many actually tried to fight him. It's possible that none of his targets have sworn enough to possess a Shardblade and stand a chance against Herald with Honorblade. So little (if any) accounts of Surgebinders healing from Honorblade wounds, and I'm sure Nalan would quiet any rumors about himself. So unless some Surgebinder got really lucky not to be instantly killed by Honorblade cut, and had enough Stormlight to heal it, and there was some unbelievably lucky spy of Diagram around who happened to see that... Szeth has the last Blade and he only encountered one Surgebinder. He didn't know which Order Kaladin belonged to, so Taravangian cannot assume out of thin air that those bonded with spren can heal Honorblade wounds. A better assumption is that it was, in fact an Edgedancer or Truthwatcher. Also, Szeth hasn't seen Kaladin Surgebinding at that point, so he couldn't tell Mr. T. He only saw Kaladin inhale and radiate Stormlight.
  16. Anyway, my theory is that Szeth was one of the holders of the Honorblades. Doesn't matter how many people were Stone Shamans Well, it's not about him being insane, of course. It's about claiming that Apocalypse is coming back. And for that they are given Oathstone and made into slaves. Having a Honorblade is a consequence of being holder of it, they cannot take it fromm him. It may be because of losing power, but if somebody was to claim that Apocalypse, which ravaged this world countless times before was about to return, it would also be a crime in and of itself. If he was one of the high priests, he would have political power... that's why it was so bad for them
  17. Theoryrunners: They seek to argue in defence of the theories which need it. Theorybreakers: They judge theories, pointing out incosistencies. Theorybringers: They bring out controversial theories, even if they are to make a great commotion and perturbation. Theorydancers: They remember all the facts and WoBs and are able to move freely between them. Theorywatchers: They seek all the truth, even if it makes them unable to talk about it freely. Theoryweavers: They often seek to build theories around small details, transforming them to important things. Also they took liking to 'what if?' theories. Theorycallers: They are those who like to swap and transport elements of the theories known to make another one. Theoryshapers: They shape theories out of facts and elements known, extrapolating on them in their pursue of novelty. Theorywards: They stand firmly by their theories, even if they're seen as stubborn by others. Their theories are dependable. Theorysmiths: They bring together scattered facts and unite them in great theories. Facts before guessing. Checking before assuming. Reason before conclusion. Anybody wants to join? If there is somebody who still hasn't attracted a theoryspren and wants to be a Theorybinder, may he speak up, for I have Theoryblades. Or maybe I should grant these Blades to the greatest theory makers of Seventeenth Shard?
  18. It's a pure theory, but... First, why give a Honorblade to somebody you are about to banish and sell into slavery? I think there are ten Stone Shamans (one for each of the Blades and one leader without one), and they're bonded with the Blades. And it would be against the rules to make Szeth give back his own. Also, if Szeth was a Stone Shaman, he probably had access to more knowledge and that's why he interpreted the facts and announced that Desolation is coming. That's why it was so terrible for all Shins, since one of their high priests had gone mad (or so they thought). So they made him a Truthless and they were waiting for this mechanism to kill him (since he was to be a slave, and slaves doesn't live long). They would reclaim his Blade when he would die, and choose another Stone Shaman. The problem was, that Truthless usually doesn't have Honorblades, so he survived, time and time again... until Kaladin happened. As for Nalan, maybe he considered them taking Honorblades a theft and killed the one who had his Blade, so he hadn't had any difficulties with reclaiming it. Maybe he considers Honorblades to obey only laws of Almighty, and He gave them to Heralds, so he is still working while obeying the law.
  19. Well, Feruchemy at its basis breaks laws of physics. Take iron for example. First situation: If you are standing at ground level, h=0m and you weight 80 kg and then you use the elevator to get at h=10m, the difference is in gravitational energy - you moved 10 m away from the center of gravity and used energy to carry those 80kg for 10m. Second situation: Well, now you also weight 80 kg, but suppose you store 10kg of mass, so your weight is 70 kg (the weight of ironmind doesn't count for simplifying the calculations). Now you also go to the h=10m, but you used only as much energy as needed to move 70kg from the center of gravity. The catch is that you can stop storing iron and now you weight 80 kg. (It gets even worse if you tap) So in both situations you weighted the same at the beginning and at the end, but in the second situation less energy was required to move the same distance. Since there is no loss of energy in Feruchemy (assuming you tap a the same rate you stored), where does energy which moved the rest of 10kg come from? Conclusions: let's just stick with Law of Conservation of Momentum, since it looks like both Allomancy and Feruchemy obey them. Edit: also, tapping iron actually would make a Skimmer fall faster. A little. When we're talking about huge speeds, like jumping with parachute it would become a little visible. It is not because of gravity, but because of air resistance vs gravity. Much like storing iron makes you fall lighter, tapping it would also move the point of balance between air resistance and gravity. There is a point in which your fall stop accelerating because air resistance balances the gravity force. Remember Felix Baumgartner?
  20. Well, maybe enthropy is different in cosmere. For example, the Well Of Ascension - they did some serious usage of the power like moving a freaking planet closer/further from the Sun. This requires so much energy that some Allomancy doesn't even count in comparison. Still, the power of the Shard remains unchanged, as it refills. Since energy cannot be created or destroyed (I often wonder what happens to the charge in melted metalmind), it seems that this energy somehow is replenished. Maybe entrophy forms some kind of a cycle like Investiture -> something-> many different transformations of energy -> Investiture. In our universe the universal product of entrophy is heat. Maybe cosmere has different set of law o physics in that matter and there is a mechanism converting the final energy product back into Investiture.
  21. You have to be the current wielder of the Blade, you don't have to have it summoned to your hand. Szeth dismissed the Blade when he massacred those people in WoK by Lashing them in every direction. If he could do that with a few years of experience with the Honorblade, Heralds definitely could also. Taravangian lied to Szeth that "one of the remaining seven Blades was stolen". Taln had one, Szeth had one. That means that Stone Shamans should have 8 Blades left, but if they had only 7 left, it means that Darkness reclaimed his own some time ago. For the connection to the Blades... well, after a so many thousands of years Heralds probably become so good with the use of the Blades that their Stormlight inefficiency means little.
  22. Okay, he was telling Szeth lies, so he chose one of the Regrowth Honorblades. But still, how has he figured out "Favored of the winds"? It could be any possible Radiant Order (maybe besides Bondsmiths, since they are so rare). Even if he knew that Windrunners are about protecting, it doesn't mean somebody of a different Order wouldn't protect Dalinar from Assassin.
  23. Also, isn't it stated that the curse doesn't have to necessarily render the wish useless? They doesn't have to be connected.
  24. Also, at first I was confused if the name 'Jasnah' was translated. Since in Polish word "jasna" means "bright" (and title 'brightness' is 'jasność'). Then I found out about the origin of her name. I suspect the 'blade of shards' issue is similar in our languages
  25. The proper term is not a Sanderson Junkie... I think we all know what the correct name is. It's obviously Sanderson Savant. You burn read the books for long time, all the time flaring intensely concentrating in order not to miss something.
